The Hounslow West tube station is 2 stops from Heathrow, so we found a basic hotel for the night, The Skylark -- simple, no frills, but staffed by friendly folks, who, when they heard our intentions to train into town for an Indian meal, insisted we walk down one block and try Takaa Tak, and assured us we would not be disappointed. And now we pass along those assurances to you, good Yelper, as it was terrific. Just try and get there on the early side. We just left the place at 10 and the wait was 40+ minutes. Delicious delicious & more delicious ... that's all there is to it -- except the prices are (compared to LA, NY or SF, et al) ridiculously affordable -- which helps explain why the place was filled with families (and the concomitant cacophony), making the scene a bit nuts on a Saturday night. Veggie momo, palak paneer, 1/2 tandoori chicken, a liter of Kingfisher beer -- all memorably spiced and seasoned with a complexity that beguiled and satisfied the full complement of flavor needs -- and topping off at less than £24 for everything -- yeow! We are now back at The Skylark, stuffed and happy, repacking for tomorrow's flight and trying to make sense of the cable tv. Next time we're coming through, great to know we have a dependably wonderful feed stop to fuel a layover. Enjoy!

MY FELLOW AMERICANS!!! DO NOT BE TURNED OFF BECAUSE OF THE 1 review on yelp. This place is truly a hidden gem. I was referred to this place by a fellow who worked at the underground station. It was my understanding that brick lane had "THE BEST CURRIES". Not to take anything away from brick lane but this place is FIRE!!. I got the chili chicken, Chile chicken noodle and the fired rice. It was all amazing. I hope more people can find this place and enjoy it as I was able too. I plan on going back tomorrow for curry and garlic nann.

When the Mrs says she wants Italian, you go for Italian…read more There's a lot of choice for people searching for that particular cuisine in the area, from your chains to smaller independents. Why we chose this particular restaurant, I can't tell you, but it probably was because it was the furthest one out of the main centre and there was a lot of vegetarian choices on the board outside. Having never tried it before and in need of a good meal we took a punt and it paid off. This is a lovely, intimate and classic Italian restaurant. It's warm and inviting with simple decor. It wasn't overwhelmingly busy on the night we went in, but it did appear to have a few families in, being very accommodating for the children. We had a very enthusiastic male waiter who told us of the specials in great details and offered his recommendations. Pizza dough is made freshly on the premises and everything is as it should be when you're paying someone else to cook for you, fresh and home made. Tempted by the various fish options the Mrs found it hard to choose and in the end plumped for the swordfish. By the noises coming out of her she rather enjoyed it. I went for a simple vegetarian pasta dish which was rich and full of flavor. The sauce was divine and the pasta perfectly al dente. The swordfish couldn't have been as filling as my pasta as the Mrs had no problem finishing off my plate. While the waiter was enthusiastic upon first order, he did appear to loose interest and we had to chase our drinks as the night went on. However overall it was a wonderfully pleasant experience. Simple, unpretentious flavorsome food and wonderful intimate surroundings.
