This has to be the worst Cafe Rio in Utah! Such a shame since it's so close to where I live. The service is absolutely awful! Seems like I'm getting less and less for what I'm paying for. Historically, this cafe Rio has not been the greatest. The service wasn't great and the food old. However, in the last year or so, I've seen a significant improvement in both areas. Though, the last couple times I've come the meat portions seem to have been smaller than usual. They do have a new item for the first time in what seems like forever. It's a bowl with new ingredients. I haven't had a chance to try it yet Also, I'm not sure if they are new or not, but for the first time ever I just noticed they have strawberry and mango lemonade, and holy crap they good! read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had at Cafe Rio. I ordered two cheese enchiladas with rice and beans and as I was looking away, she made them with flour tortillas which normally are made with corn tortillas. Once it was done I asked if they were corn tortillas or flour, She told me they were flour. I told her I wanted corn, please. She continued to take my order back start unrolling the flour tortilla and dumping it into a corn tortilla. What the hell is that? You did it wrong. You should remake my meal. You don't dump it into another tortilla after it's already been melted and everything. Worst thing I've ever seen in my life. I would never do that. I walked in the door tonight, I was the only one inline, then 3 more people showed up. I waited for someone to take my order or even acknowledge i was standing there. I told the people behind me i have been waiting to have them take my order. They were too busy doing online orders and kept doing them and not even acknowledging customers in line I waited 4 mins and still no one said one word. First of all let me say.. we love Cafe Rio. BUT this Magna location is a mess. They have never gotten our to go order correct- not one time and we've order more than 20 times. We gave them the benefiting the doubt as they were newly opened, however they cannot give that excuse any longer. Then the order is never ready on time and like tonight we had to wait 25 mi utes past scheduled time... last time it took 40 minutes past time they agreed to gave our order ready. Figured it'd been a couple of years since my last visit and review of this place. Was hopeful things had changed and by that, I meant hopeful things had gotten better. Nope, not at all. I mean at least they are consistent with poor quality & service... I ordered nachos with queso cheese, shredded chicken and double black beans. I ended up with chips, melted shredded cheese, no beans and chicken that might pass as jerky. I got this via DoorDash. When the dasher saw my face as I was looking at the order, he immediately apologized and explained that he hates picking up from this location because the order is usually poor quality. So disgusting. Staff did not wear gloves while preparing orders. They were STANDING on the drink table to tend to the horchata containers! If the prep away was bad, their restroom was worse! Everyone one wants to blame COVID, but this is attributed to poor work ethic and lack of strong leadership. They need a surprise visit from the health inspector on the evening shift. read more

First off, we love Café Rio. Tonight we placed a "to go" pickup order. We realized that part of our order was missing when we got home and started to divvy out the food to the kids. We let the kids start to eat their dinner as we called and waited on hold for what seemed like 10-15 minutes. Once we were patched through to the restaurant, they said we had to bring the whole order back for them to verify that there was missing food from the order. That wasn't going to happen being that my kids were already eating. We went down and had them fix the order. They gave us the missing sweet pork quesadilla and 2 side orders of grilled chicken. We took it home (our mistake for not verifying before driving home again) and they gave us the a grilled chicken quesadilla with no cheese. I called them back again, let them know that we had just picked up our missing food, and that it was not made to order. She denied it and said that I was wrong. I took it back to the restaurant for the 3rd time now, and sure enough, it was the wrong order. As I was waiting again for the correct order, I mentioned to a gentleman waiting for his pickup order that he probably wanted to verify his order before leaving, due to my current experience. The lady working at the register chimed in saying that they didn't mess up our order. I asked her what she would call an order that was missing items, and she just insisted that the initial order wasn't messed up. I asked for a manager, and there wasn't one there. I asked to speak to the team lead, and they told me that she only spoke Spanish. Luckily for me I speak Spanish, and requested to speak to her. She came out and was able to communicate in English. They did give me 2 free meals, but the attitude of the employees there is completely unacceptable. Their customer service sucks. read more

Yesterday was the 3rd time buying food from this location and for some reason the rice is always half cooked. My family and I was disappointed once again. I was the only one for a while, and had to wait a few minute before anyone said hello. Also, I ordered two steak tacos and then my family wanted their order of 3 burritos, which took a while to get. The Pinto beans looked gross and old on one end. One of the burritos was made incorrectly. At the same time another server made another customer's order incorrectly. This Cafe Rio is good... when their employees are not overly busy, and actually paying attention. We always order online for pickup, and we always order extra dressings. However, every time we pick up the food, the extra dressings we paid for, are not in our bags. Tonight, I had to explain and show the receipt to an employee that we had 3 salads, which come with a dressing, and then we ordered an extra one for each salad. She began arguing with me, until I showed her the receipt that it cost extra. She conceded and provided the dressings. Although, she gave the wrong types requested. I would not be posting this, if I weren't fed up with how many times this has happened. Tonight the food was cold, the tortillas were hard, and the food was made wrong. I'm extremely disappointed. My experience here was awful. Everyone there really needs some new training because they all don't know anything about customer service!!! A wire was found in my food and the manager did nothing about it! He replied with "damn that sucks" and that was it! We had to ask for a refund. Then We called the next day about our refund we haven't received yet and asked for his name and he hung up! Horrible horrible horrible place. Of all the locations I've been to, this is the worst in both quality and service. Every time I've gone my order has either been wrong or missing items, and they give the skimpiest servings I've seen at any Rio. The final straw was on July 4th when I went to use my military discount. Not only was the portion again skimpy (vegetarian salad and they put the regular amount or rice/beans in it), but the person putting on all the toppings flat out dropped the guacamole on the counter, then put it back in my salad, and ignored me when I questioned if the counter was clean- DURING COVID. I got home to find they hadn't given me any salad dressing, I called the main Rio line, who apologized and connected me to the store, who promptly hung up on me. And once I returned to pick up the dressing, they tried to charge me for it. I won't be returning here, after both their complete disregard for safe practices during covid, as well as their treatment of military. read more
