Afternoon tea

Afternoon test for 1

This is a really cute spot for a quick bite and Instagram worthy pics. I stopped by for afternoon tea and really loved the service and presentation. I also went with family a few nights later and the food was exactly what we were looking for. It is pretty easy to get a table if you walk up, but during busy time you may need to wait a few minutes to be seated.

Biscuit and clotted cream

What a cute lil place! I loved the decor! It felt very elegant. I would highly recommend this place for high tea! The atmosphere was nice and it was much cheaper than most other places. What I ordered: I got the luxury cream tea which comes w your choice of tea or coffee and a wonderful little tower of desserts and biscuits. I went with an earl grey tea. It came soon after I ordered. Then they brought out this wonderful tower w 2 biscuits and clotted cream, 4 little desserts, and 2 macaroons. The biscuits were a little dry and personally I wish there was some salt in the clotted cream, but maybe that's just a pero al preference. The tiny desserts were very tasty! The tea was great and came in a pot that was around 1 1/2 cups! I got all of this for 15£. That's pretty good for this part of London!

The Lox and beet hummus toast

Cafe Concerto is a chain with many of them around London. I thought this restaurant is a little overpriced compared to others, but the food is pretty good. Ordered the Traditional English Breakfast, which is very traditional with no uniqueness or different kind of spin on the dish. The dish however was good and very filling, came with two eggs (over-easy), sausage, hashbrowns, bacon, baked beans, sauteed mushrooms, toast and a tomato. Overall this dish had no surprises and was good. Ordered the Lox toast and hummus beet toast. This dish is actually quite filling and tasty. The hummus beet toast was very unique, but went well with the avocado. Overall this place is a little pricier than other restaurants, but the food is tasty.

STALE CAKE. On my birthday, my boyfriend and I were looking at several window displays for the perfect cake in Piccadilly. The red velvet caught my eye at Cafe Concerto. We ordered a slice of the red velvet and chocolate cake to go to enjoy in the park. Sadly, the slice of red velvet cake was SO STALE, my plastic fork broke. SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!! How can you sell stale cake!!!!! From what looked like a very nice cafe in London. I would of liked to return the inedible cake to the unfriendly manager but we were already to far away. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because my boyfriend's chocolate cake was very good. Still we would NEVER return.

Stopped by here for lunch when we saw the beautiful chandeliers through the window. Adorable place with great food and tea.

I feel like this place is trying hard to be super posh and sophisticated. The interior looks like a dream with wood panels, sparkling mirrors, crystal lighting, and gold trimming. But let me tell you, the dessert was definitely not posh or sophisticated as I expected. After walking along Piccadilly, my friend and I decided to stop by for some dessert. We ordered a slice of cake and a macaroon each. The cake I got was black forest chocolate, and man, one bite was already too sweet, especially the fondant. The cake base was alright, but it wasn't something to rave about. I suppose the bigger disappointment were the macaroons. They were really dry, and to be honest, it didn't seem that fresh. Overall, not something I'd call home about. But, it does have some pretty posh aesthetics.

Came here to get some berry tarts to go. Good customer service and the prices were good. There's lots of seating inside.

The food was good but the service was fairly awful. The staff were pleasant but inattentive and I waited nearly half an hour for coffee.

Food is great at this mid range restaurant chain. Particularly love the chicken in a cream mushroom sauce. The staff are always so friendly.

So my mother and I ate at a lot of eateries while we were in London last year. Only Bloomsbury Cafe…read moreleft us declaring defeat: we just couldn't finish our meals here. Their servings are HUGE, and are so affordable too! I left wishing my mother and I had the ability to save our leftovers for later, because we hated wasting any of the delicious food that we ordered. Even before we got our food we were pretty excited. When you walk in you're greeted here with a beautiful sight: fresh sandwiches, bread, and pastries, all on display right at their main counter. Once we were seated I noticed little flower pots line the window, too. Fresh food and flowers - what more can you ask from a cafe for a first impression? We also loved the owner and his wife: they were very kind and they constantly kept us up to date on our food order, just to mention what was done and what they still needed to do or cook. They clearly work hard to provide fresh fast meals - and we learned quickly as people came in and out of the place that takeaway is available here. But we wanted to enjoy a sit down meal, and enjoy we did! I started mine with fresh squeezed juice - we're talking so fresh you'll want to add sugar to it if you're used to the juice that comes in stores. And when our English breakfasts came out? Just, wonderful. My mother and I each received SO much food. Both meals came with amazing buttered bread (like, I would have happily eaten an entire plate of bread and only bread), hash browns so fresh that they may as well have given us the original potatoes (yum), and what I can really only describe as a mountain of beans, eggs, and meat (well, on mine anyway - not so much on my mother's vegetarian breakfast order). All of it absolutely delicious, and every single bite made me smile wider and wider. Definitely walk on in if you're near this little shop. Don't be afraid to order one meal and share it if there's only two of you, either - you'll likely both leave well fed, and you can always order a little more food if you want too from that great looking counter of theirs...

I had rice with meatballs in a tomatoe sauce which was a bit hot and very delicious. The waitress (I guess the owner of the café) was very nice and friendly, did ask if we want drinks or dessert. This is one of London's remaining "proper" cafes. The owners are genuinely lovely and welcome…read moreeveryone with a smile and even remember you if it's been months between visits. I always come to this establishment if I'm in the area and demand that my colleagues meet me there. I've never heard a complaint. Many local establishments wouldn't know a "full English" of it slapped them across the back of their legs, but you won't be disappointed here. Decent, tasty, full-sized sausages, quality bacon and all of the assorted extras that would set anybody for the day. The coffee is good and if you've still got space for lunch later, they also sell a range of delicious sandwiches. The owners are flying the flag for English (no fuss) breakfasts. The interesting thing is that neither of the owners are native Brits, but they've certainly created a welcome oasis in this part of London. Even the health conscious and vegetarians will be happy. Highly recommended.
