Meh. There's not really a reason to go here. (I went because the GPS said it's off I-95.) The staff was sad-looking, and slow to take orders or acknowledge your existence on a line that wasn't even long. The food looks sad too. I'm happy they have variety, but it looked a bit dated. I'm disappointed with Caffe Nero because it has so much potential to be great. Their food and drinks are great. The cafe is spacious with great ambiance where you can do work. However, the service is really terrible here. The staff was unfriendly, asking questions in a rude manner. I could tell by everyone standing in line that it was uncomfortable for all. The barista is the one who prepares food, and also makes the charge so it takes a long time to get through the line even though it's not very busy. read more

Cafe Nero is always such a fun place to go. The inside is so inviting and warm. It reminds me of a little library. Service is usually pretty good unless it is someone new and they are training... then it takes a little bit. But everyone who works there is nice so I don't mind waiting. I love their mocha latte and all their sandwiches and pastries are amazing. I recently had the chicken pesto sandwich and omg sooo good for a cafe sandwich! Always enjoy it here! I'm going to start off this post pleasantly before I turn to my critiques. When Cafe Nerro gets their orders right, their food and drinks are outstanding, however, I had a really bad experience with them today when my wife ordered me a Caprese sandwich and what came was two Ham Sandwiches with no note as to why. I do not eat ham and unfortunately, when I tried to call their listed phone numbers, it ultimately rang until it hung itself up. I drove to the Cafe Nerro since it's not too far from us, walked in, explained that they put a Ham sandwich in there instead of a Caprese and they tacitly stated that it's basically company policy to just put a new sandwich in there and "leave a note" (We never got a note, my wife and I both checked). Bewildered, I realized two things. It's not this employee's fault or the other employee who has to deal with this. It's management. Management set such an incredibly insensitive and stupid policy as to allow their employees to put Ham into a bag with other food and deliver it to a person that doesn't eat Ham. That is inconsiderate beyond WORDS and infuriating to all other Muslims in the world. DO NOT DO THAT. THAT IS A STUPID THING YOU ARE DOING. TELL YOUR EMPLOYEES TO STOP DOING THAT. The other completely ridiculous thing is that they don't have a functional phone number in 2023. One Hundred Forty Seven years since the invention of the Telephone in 1876 and their only excuse was "it doesn't work, sorry". The employee's advice to me after driving out there? They literally told me to go into the app and request a refund. I could tell she did not understand how incredibly stupid it was to put two ham cheese sandwiches into a bag, and again, I do not blame them! That is a reflection on POOR MANAGEMENT. read more

Went to this cafe to do some work and drink some coffee. Right off the bay ordering is way confusing and the employees are rude. I was told my debit card is too old To use and too dumb so I have to call my bank. Ok I paid cash and walked away with a drink. As I sat I heard employees yell at customers for 2 hours straight about leaving cups at the tables and not knowing where to stand when ordering. If this has to be said multiple times a day obviously something is wrong. I understand employees must be frustrated constantly telling people where to order and where to put dishes. This is an easy fix on managements end.... Instead a first time customer will probably never come back after an experience like that. Good luck. Wish I knew about this sooner! The type of coffee shop / cafe I yearned for after moving from California. It's idyllic. It's perfect. It's warm. It's charming. It's got a variety of sweets and savories for every palate. And it's got a variety of coffee drinks, including my beloved cortado. Easy access off I-95 too! Such a great spot. In my quest for the perfect Almond Croissant, I have been testing out different bakeries. On a trip to Dubai last year, I had the pleasure of dining at Angelina's a french bakery located at the Dubai Mall. There I ordered an almond croissant and was immediately a convert. Fast forward to the US and driving through Darien on a gorgeous fall day, decided to stop at Cafe Nero, which surprisingly I had not noticed before. On the outside, they had makeshift patio due to Covid, but once you go inside you find this very European style cafe, which is actually pretty large, and the seating arrangement is organized to cater to different group sizes. The counter itself is in the back, and has a nice display of sandwiches, Desserts and pastries. I was happy to find what I was looking for, The almond Croissant, and I asked if it could be warmed. With a nice cup of tea and the almond croissant I decided to find a place to sit and with one bite of the croissant I could tell this was special. After having devoured my dessert, I walked over to the counter and complimented the gentleman, who shared that their croissant's actually come from Paris,. That is quiet a thought to carry the best stuff in a store and I could see my connection with Angelina, at least the country is the same. Robert, is The man behind the mask and the counter and the sandwiches who shared that he prepares the food here himself. A very knowledgeable gentleman and you could tell how much pride he takes in the restaurant and food. I am not a coffee drinker, so can't comment on that, but for a nice, classy, artistic experience this is a great place to visit. read more

Great study spot!!!!! If you are looking for a change of scenery other than the library, this is the place to be. It can get a bit crowded, but if you are lucky someone will be leaving. I had to knock a star because they do not have a designated parking lot. They just forewarn you not to park in the bank's parking lot which will get you ticketed/towed. The staff is friendly and the service is quick! beware, the wifi can be slow at times, which can get annoying. For those occurrences, I suggest a bathroom break as they have 2 bathrooms in the back if you need them. The food here is pretty good and the coffee is strong. All good things when you need study snacks!! The best thing here I think are the croissants!!!! Literally as good as the ones I've have in France. Their apple coffee cake, brownies, cookies, and french macarons are also delicious as well. They also have a stamp card for the drinks. I had never heard of Caffe Nero until moving to CT, but apparently it is popular in Massachusetts. I hope they make their way to California because they are a really good coffee spot! read more

What a cute coffee shop! My first time there I was so impressed with the aesthetics, and I'll keep going back for them. It's a great place to hang out or study (lots of seating), but it does fill up fast on weekends. In terms of ordering, I got the vanilla latte with almond milk, and it was good but too sweet for my tastes. Ialso got the avocado toast - not bad, but not amazing. Visited for the first time. Waited in line for 15 minutes with a client of mine and was rudely told baby the barista that she wasn't going to serve us and I had to go to the back of the line. The other patrons said we had been waiting and it was our turn to order. She refused to serve us and said she would not get the manger when requested. Really beautiful place. The decor is interesting and inviting. Pink lemonade on ice is perfect for a hot day or post run. It's almost 2019, a coffee shop opens in Fairfield County, CT that serves up not only a great brew (nitro/cold/espresso/pour over/etc.) but decent food to boot. The anticipation and long wait is finally over! We no longer have to patronize a massive but some may argue a well oiled machine with packaged goods that are microwave. You know the chains I'm referring to. Caffe Nero separates itself by offering food options prepared or assembled onsite as well as pastries/treats that seem to be less about margins and with better quality than its competitors. The atmosphere is inviting without being too comfortable for people to treat it as their personal living room (which I've seen often be a failure for businesses). The reason why I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is because I overheard a barista complaining about regulars to a new customer who commented on how busy the shop was. The barista made it seem like regulars were an annoyance for taking up tables. Shortly after I heard this, I left because I no longer felt welcomed there even though I was only 30 minutes in (there is a 90 minute limit on seating). I was also offended by the comment because I have spent a lot of money here on coffee & in tips the last few months! I love this coffee shop, in my opinion it is what a coffee shop should be like aesthetically. It is cozy & is the perfect study spot for when the house gets too chaotic to concentrate. Then, in the middle of serving me, she abruptly asked me to move from the cashier area so she can serve to another client behind me in the line. Finally, when I politely reminded her that I had limited time to get to work, she engaged in a heated argument with me for a few minutes, displaying further rudeness. Great coffee and tasty treats! Very rustic chic decor. It even has a two sided fire place - ambiance galore. The staff is really nice, helpful and quick. They have breakfast sandwiches, muffins, croissants, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit bowls, lunch sandwiches (which they heat on a hot panini press)and salads. I tied the coffee, croque monsieur and a kouign amman. They seem to have a french food vibe going on - tre manifique. It was all really good. You must try it at least once if you are in the area. I can't get past poor customer service! The atmosphere is great. The seating is fun and comfortable and there are varied styles - couches for schmoozing with friends and tables for working or studying. The blueberry muffins and oatmeal raisin cookies are scrumptious. However, it's all in the customer service. I went to mean a friend. We got iced tea and yummies and talked for a bit. We were told at 5:55 they were closing in 5 minutes. We started to gather our things and make plans / decisions about where to relocate. As we were discussing and gathering our stuff we were rudely told it was time to go with, and I quote, "It's 6:02 and we close at 6:00." I've worked in restaurants, book stores, and other retail settings. You can not expect to walk out the door when the shop closes. If you want to leave at 6, close at 5:30. I'll update my review if the customer service improves.
