    Blueberry Scone

Very good blueberry scone and large cappuccino from Dolce in New Cannan Nice little Italian Cafe on Elm St. The scone was good. Good flavor, moist and they serve it a bit warm. Cappuccino was very good. Hit the spot for that caffeine fix. They have all your favorite Italian coffee options. Didn't have time to speak to the staff here. Not sure if they make their pastries in house. Seems most of them are made in house. However, for an Italian cafe I didn't really see any authentic Italian pastries available. The menu looks fantastic, offering a variety of breakfast and lunch options. I'll have to come back for one of those panini sandwiches. Be prepared though, prices are a bit steep for the options offered. Certainly a nice place, small and very inviting. The staff behind the counter is super friendly. It's order at counter service then sit down to enjoy. Not a lot of seats which made for a warm, small town atmosphere. Great place to stop by while in town. I would recommend stopping by for a bite. Buon Appetito! #fairfieldcountywineanddinejournal

    Beautiful presentation and absolutely
 delicious tiramisu dessert

We were in the down town area for on a late Sunday afternoon an art event. While walking on Elm we decided to grab a dessert. The tiramisu caught my eye because my husband makes it from scratch. The presentation was absolutely lovely as was the tiramisu. The difference in flavor is that Dolce makes their tiramisu with lady fingers imported from Italy. My family plans to return again to this wonderful gem in New Canaan, Friendly staff and excellent service!

3.5 - I'm not sure why Yelp doesn't have 1/2 starts..... Food was good. Grilled chicken had good flavor and the kale salad was .. well, good. My main issue is that for $20 I should be atleast mostly full (I'm not that big :) Portions are small ... kale was chewy (more than normal lol- massage anyone ?) the chicken was "grilled" at some point but obviously sitting in liquid waiting for a reheat! Very juicy ... which is good and bad. If you o owe you food you'll get it . Will give them another chance in person as this was delivery One big A+ for separating the hot chicken and cold salad for travel! This would have earned them the other half star Again... it was good. Just not on par for the price and the area. I expect more from new Canaan eateries!

    Afternoon coffee date

Their iced cappuccino is like the one I'm used to in Europe! This is my favorite coffee spot in Connecticut, and their iced chocolate donuts are really good as well. A must-stop if you're on a date and want to stop after lunch for really good coffee :)

Terrible coffee, ordered cappuccino, it tasted like soap. No one in store, so maybe they over cleaned the machine.

The host who seated us was friendly, and our server was attentive. The menu includes a variety of "small plates," larger entrées, and a small selection of sushi rolls. The beverage menu offers an extensive selection of crafted cocktails as well as mocktails, and there is a small curated wine list. My party chose to order the lunch specials that are offered on weekdays. These include a choice of house or cucumber salad, and two small plates or sushi rolls for a fixed price. Both salads were flavorful and good-sized portions. We loved the spicy crab, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura rolls! I was impressed that they removed the inedible portion of the shrimp tail on the latter, something most restaurants fail to do. But, can we talk about the Detroit-style pizza? Not only was it authentic, but it was absolutely delicious! As someone who grew up in Detroit, Blackbird did a phenomenal job with it, and made me feel nostalgic. I have been to many restaurants in downtown New Canaan over the past several years. I cannot wait to return for another meal at Blackbird!

I have to admit, I thought it was a bit too pricey for the type of food they offer but it is New Canaan, so I guess that's par for the course. The mushroom tacos were tasty, though the mushrooms were a little more chewy than I was expecting. The veggie quinoa on the side and the green sauce were excellent!

What ties them all together is quality. Every dish on the menu at Rosie is great with seasonal specials that everyone should try when offered. My two favorites are the Fillet Mignon and Beef Brisket Tacos both of which I've ordered and eaten more times than I care to admit. For non-meat eaters, Rosie also has delicious options on the menu for vegetarians and vegans; and you don't have to be either to recognize and enjoy delicious food without meat like the desserts; speaking of which Rosie is known for its gigantic muffins. When dining-in, I highly recommend saving room for a muffin or if you're too full at the end of your meal, order one or a few to-go. The banana walnut muffin is insanely good! Regarding ambiance, the restaurant is small, casual and quaint -- a place you'd expect to see in a small New England town that's also rated the best place to live in Connecticut. During the Spring, Summer and Fall months, you can dine outdoors with your fur babies. New Canaan is a dog-friendly town and the people and service at Rosie are great too. There's street parking in front and a public lot just around the corner from the restaurant.

I wish I could spell his name without butchering it. I ordered the fish taco and it was delicious. We also had the eggplant fries, bang bang shrimp, and the banana nut oat crunch muffin, which was excellent. We ordered some other food like an omelet, and the tostada crunch wrap. I can't say anything bad about the food here. What I will say, though, is that this was a bit pricey for a brunch spot. $15 for a small glass of lavender mimosas ... yeah, definitely overpriced, but again, the food and friendly staff made up for that. My sister and I agreed we would be back. Oh, and the inside isn't too big but could use a bit of personality. It wasn't the most appealing, but honestly, this place is about the food.

Because I didn't experience any of them. I've lived in the next town for almost eight years. In that time I've eaten at the New Canaan Diner AT LEAST 100 times. This night was not special; just looking for a late night hamburger. It's Friday night, May 9. It's raining. The sign in the window says that they are open until 9 pm. I walked in at 8:40 pm. Ok, a little late, but I just wanted a hamburger. More than half of the tables were filled. All of the seats at the counter were filled. People were eating. All good signs. The waiter said, "We're closed," and immediately turned his back to me. Not "Sorry, we're closed." Just "We're closed," and I got his back. I looked around the room at all the people eating and said to one of the other waitstaff, "You're closed?" She looked embarrassed and said, "Well, the kitchen is closed...." She seemed to understand that her colleague's behavior was inappropriate in a retail eating establishment. He shouldn't leave this job to be a greeter at Walmart. He would be bad at that. I nodded and walked out. I'm having Japanese food across the street. I really didn't want Japanese food for dinner, but the food is always good at Hama and the hospitality is always superior. All the chefs at the sushi bar bow and say "thank you" as I leave. I'm sure that their gratitude is not deeply sincere, but it beats "We're closed" followed by an abrupt about-face. The diner is dead to me. At least for a while.

It took awhile for us to get our drink orders in, and then another long while to put our food orders in. And the time it took for us to get our momos (over 40 minutes) made us wonder if they were making the dumplings at that moment. It took a long time for us to get our food and I think by the time we got all of our food it was about 1.5 hours, which was very surprising. The slower food prep and service would make me hesitant to dine here again. But the food itself was pretty good. The tikka masala was more on the liquidy side, but the flavors were there, though the chicken was dark meat. The chicken vindaloo was on the spicier side. Everyone enjoyed the chicken korma. The garlic naan came out fresh but was not as warm by the time we got all of the dishes. Overall we thought that the food here is solid and our friends loved this place. We were just surprised at the amount of waiting here as the dishes came out with a trickle. The food here is more expensive than other Indian places and there is a good amount of care put into the food. It is nice that the rice came complimentary with the entrees, and the Indian thin crackers are great too.
