The food here is great especially the custom panini's. Unfortunately service is not on the same level as the food. TIP: On weekends, try to be the first ones in the door to order otherwise the wait can be extremely long. Look to spend at least an hour here for a sandwich and drink. We ordered two paninis, hash browns and drinks. The paninis and drinks arrived at our table after 15 minutes but without hash browns. The server said the hash browns are coming. Another 10 minutes passes and still no has browns. My wife goes in to check and they said they're coming. After another five minutes (30 minutes have gone by since we ordered), my wife goes in and asks again. The lady in the kitchen places the hash browns wrapped in a paper towel into the microwave and says they'll bring them out to us. They bring us our hash browns. On our next visit, we tried placing our orders over the phone to avoid the extremely long wait. We're immediately placed on hold and after 10 minutes get disconnected. We called back and before we can utter a sound, they immediately place us on hold again. Three times and the same happened. We've essentially given up on this place. read more

This place needs a little interior face lift to cuten it up. the shelves of knick knacks are dusty, I'm not sure if things are for sale, or if its just italian goodies for decoration, its unclear with no price tag. they cheapened the look of the menu. theres separate pieces of paper of random menu items close to the ceiling, on the wall, on a poster board. its confusing. re-do your menu. great paninis, great coffee, nice owners. keep it up! read more

We stopped in to get dessert after a wonderful lunch in the area. The shop was small but quaint. They had several tables inside but more outside. For my dessert I had the tiramisu and my girlfriend had the cherry cream gelato. Both desserts were absolutely delicious. They also have some dining options but we only wanted dessert. read more

I wanted to support this independent Cafe but the service was not good at all. I ordered a simple toasted bagel with cheese and tomato and it took a very long time to get my order. There were 3 well meaning and nice but clueless young people behind the counter plus one person preparing the food. When I finally inquired about my order I was assured it would be 2 minutes. After another while, I went back and was told that they would have to redo my order as they made the wrong thing. I asked for a refund and went down the street to Dunkin Donuts and got an avocado toast in less than 2 minutes. read more

Very good blueberry scone and large cappuccino from Dolce in New Cannan Nice little Italian Cafe on Elm St. The scone was good. Good flavor, moist and they serve it a bit warm. Cappuccino was very good. Hit the spot for that caffeine fix. They have all your favorite Italian coffee options. Didn't have time to speak to the staff here. Not sure if they make their pastries in house. Seems most of them are made in house. However, for an Italian cafe I didn't really see any authentic Italian pastries available. The menu looks fantastic, offering a variety of breakfast and lunch options. I'll have to come back for one of those panini sandwiches. Be prepared though, prices are a bit steep for the options offered. Certainly a nice place, small and very inviting. The staff behind the counter is super friendly. This is my favorite spot to eat in New Canaan. The food is great. I've had many lunch and dinners here. The salads and pasta are superb. The dinner options have all been good. The service is terrific and the staff is amazingly friendly. Everyone behind the counter makes you feel at home. The brothers plan to open a new dinner restaurant further down the block on Elm and I will look forward to that. I will root for their success and have no doubt they will work very hard to give customers their very best. After reading about their breakfast and coffee offerings, It looks like I have another reason to visit them over Labor Day weekend. We were in the down town area for on a late Sunday afternoon an art event. While walking on Elm we decided to grab a dessert. The tiramisu caught my eye because my husband makes it from scratch. The presentation was absolutely lovely as was the tiramisu. The difference in flavor is that Dolce makes their tiramisu with lady fingers imported from Italy. 3.5 - I'm not sure why Yelp doesn't have 1/2 starts..... Food was good. Grilled chicken had good flavor and the kale salad was .. well, good. My main issue is that for $20 I should be atleast mostly full (I'm not that big :) Portions are small ... kale was chewy (more than normal lol- massage anyone ?) the chicken was "grilled" at some point but obviously sitting in liquid waiting for a reheat! Very juicy ... which is good and bad. If you o owe you food you'll get it . Will give them another chance in person as this was delivery One big A+ for separating the hot chicken and cold salad for travel! This would have earned them the other half star Again... it was good. Stopped here for breakfast with friends and sat at the tables outside. We had five adults, a baby, and a dog with us, and this was the perfect spot for our party to enjoy breakfast all together. I ordered the breakfast truffle sandwich on a Portuguese muffin and an iced chai with oat milk. I could not have been happier with my decisions. Both were so good! Someone else in my party raved about their egg sandwich with avocado on croissant. They press their breakfast sandwiches panini style. I had the worst crepe I have ever had in my life. It was a vegetables crepe. The crepe itself was bland--oversized and folded like a napkin with about as much flavour as that. The vegetable contents were what were truly atrocious--a tiny amount of mixed vegetables, cut small with no sauce but abominably salty. Cool looking food serving cafe with nice sidewalk seating. But the food wasn't good. Avocado toast was guacamole smeared on supermarket bread. Crepes were undercooked with no flavor. I decided to go here after seeing the business ironically on a trip to Starbucks. I decided to order two cups of coffee and a pistachio crepe. The order was made but one cup of coffee was perfectly made and hot while the second cup was cold. Rather than replace the cup of coffee outright the worker poured half the coffee in sink and refilled with hot coffee! As far as the crepe my best bet is the actual crepe was probably pre-made based on the texture and then filled with a filling of some kind that was somewhat good. If not sure what they are thinking or if they want to standout to be better or unique, but it should have been better to make me want to return. There are multiple coffee shops and sweet shops in the area that it may not be your best choice or worth visiting. Nice seating with interesting and nice decor saves the place from getting a one-star rating. read more

I ordered an avocado toast: it was an avocado spread (not homemade ) I think from Costco (I buy the same for myself ) on a piece of not well toasted bread..2 pieces and nothing else for $11. Ok, I never leave negative reviews, but I hope the owners see this and step it up. I'd be more than happy to edit this review to a 5 star if they do. First, the good: Cute, clean, coffee and pastry spot in the center of New Canaan. Small but fine seating is a nice place for a quick meet up. Now, the bad: we ordered breakfast and spent nearly $40 for very poor quality eggs and toast on a cheap plate with plasticware meant for a cheap picnic. The plastic fork not only broke for us, but also broke for someone else at the next table while we were there. For the price, we'd expect much better quality food, and silverware that won't break while trying to butter toast. Bottom line: we wanted to (and still do) love this place, but they are severely lacking in quality for breakfast menu. Especially up the block from Rosie. We will definitely come back for coffee and pastries. And if the management steps up breakfast, we'll give it one more shot, and are open to editing our review. Good luck. read more

Worst customer service ever. Staffs called out every customer when their food is ready BUT not ours. I was just a fool for waiting for them to call me. Amazing place for a coffee and quick bite to eat, cute outdoor seating-they have oatmilk which is a plus! The paninis are artfully made with care and love they were amazing, actual ciabatta bread perfectly toasted. Nutella panini was served open faced and crispy -the perfect amount of nutella and seasalt with a dash of powdered sugar each bite was so good.
