The food is good. However, every time I order I wait. And wait. And the food is ready but the expeditor is busy or asleep at the switch. This has happened multiple times where people are waiting and waiting and there seems to be food ready for pick up. Here's a pic of my latest visit. My food- avocado toast is waiting and ready in the white to go box. And the lady is just talking to who looks to be her boss/owner and he's leaning back just talking to her...telling her an in depth story. Meanwhile the guys at the grill are busy making the orders. The person running the cashier is taking orders and this dope is leaning there, telling his story and she's just listening letting the food stack up. I deleted the other pic where there are a ton of orders on that table and they're just talking away....while the food is good, the customer service is poor. I timed 10 minutes where I was waiting for my food- and half of which was because this dude and chick were engrossed in some convo which prevented her from multi-tasking. Shame on him for preventing her from doing her job and not adding value. Shame on her for not excusing him to get the food out to the waiting customers...who by the way, can SEE you and our waiting food!!! The food has to be taken to the counter (as seen in the foreground of the pic)...it's not far. Low score as this happens REPEATEDLY. Step up the customer service and focus on the customer because no one likes $10.00 soggy avocado toast. Btw when not soggy, it's delicious but due to consistent poor service I haven't had non soggy in a while. As I write this, I guess the joke is on me as I keep coming back. Going to find me a new joint with better customer service. PS- when she FINALLY brings the food she brings the latest made food out, and I wait till the end. The other lady and I who were waiting (she's the bag delivery and I'm the white to go order) look at each other with the same thoughts. read more

So far we have tried the following - kids chicken tenders - buttermilk fried chicken sandwich - breakfast burrito - roost English muffin sandwich - Korean cheesesteak sandwich - chopped Cobb - overnight oats - lemonade - strawberry lemonade - ice chai - mermaid latte (blue matcha) - vanilla latte - power green smoothie All is really good! You will be amazed on how tasty the food is - especially paired with the hot sauce! Of everything we have tried so far on the menu - the breakfast ones are definitely the fav. My favorite sandwich place in Darien. The online ordering system and pick up is so easy. My favorite sandwich is the Fresh Roast Turkey Sandwich (arugula, bacon, Mayo, turkey, avocado with an onion jam) - I tried it twice. Once without the onion jam and the second time with the onion jam on the side. The onion jam was really good! Kids menu is great - decently priced too! Chicken tenders - My son loved it and he eats it all up! Grilled cheese sandwich - My daughter loved their grilled cheese and she's super picky!! I haven't been able to try other items but their breakfast menu looks delicious. Can't wait to come back and try other items! read more

We ordered lunch from here on a cooler, dreary Sunday and it totally hit the spot! So many good things to choose from on the menu, but i settled on the grilled salmon salad. It was delicious and I'd order it again, although there's more on the menu I'd want to try. My little birds were happy with their grilled cheese (+ bacon) and the fresh roasted turkey sandwich. It was super easy to order online and arrived within 30 min. I'd love to go in person during a future visit, but delivery was perfect for this first taste of Roost! read more

My wife and I moved up from the city not too long ago and needed a new cafe and Roost does not disappoint! We love coming for a quick caffeine boost weekdays or pop in on the weekend to brunch. Definitely recommend stopping in. read more

The breakfast sandwich is pretty good. I have a hard time when I go there getting my latte very very hot. Also the most recent time my fiancé surprised me with some it didn't taste good, I literally throw it out. I was so disappointed, the latte is usually fabulous. Literally "thrown out" on a Saturday at 3pm because the staff wanted to leave. Made us pick up our salads and go. We were told we could sit at a table - then 5 minutes later we were asked to move to the bar area because the "table area was closed." Finally got settled in our new seats and another employee yelled from the kitchen area that we had to leave because they were closed! Im working my way down the coffee list. Nice and smooth coffee, no matter what you get. Bright and clean surroundings. The roost breakfast sandwich was delicious, as was the cinnamon pastry and chocolate croissant. There is plenty of parking in the back but be warned it is busy at peak hours and there isn't a lot of seating inside. Expect to stand or take it to go. Definitely worth the try! I went back for lunch with a friend during the week. We tried the Korean Cheesesteak and Hot Roast Beef both are hot sandwiches with a wonderful flavor combination. We have enjoyed delicious food and coffee/tea on multiple occasions at this coffee shop. Today, 1/9/22, in the midst of the Covid pandemic, and as the omicron variant is running rampant, every single person, worker and patron alike, was wearing a mask, EXCEPT the young woman with hair falling out of a loose ponytail, putting the names on cups and the food orders together. No mask. Her mouth and nose inches from our cups, our food. I asked the gal at the register to have her put on a mask on as soon as we came in. I told her I was uncomfortable. NOTHING. She restocked cups. No mask. She breathed on cups. No mask. She packed food into bags. No mask. We were missing a muffin. She went to get it. I said no. No mask. I asked her to wear a mask, that I'd expect food service workers to be wearing a mask. She replied, snippy and rude..."well it's not mandated. I'm sorry you feel that way." We will NEVER return to Roost. If the owner can not mandate masks for their employees DURING AN AIRBORNE VIRUS PANDEMIC, who are DEALING WITH FOOD, they don't deserve my business, and they shouldn't deserve yours. I stopped in to grab a matcha latte, and it was really tasty. The food options here seem great. I might have stayed but seating is pretty limited. I wonder if they could do more with the really long hallway-type setup that leads to the back entrance? a few small tables might fit along the side. Great food. Great coffee. Thats what matters. Been twice. Every time they've been on point. Wife got a bomb chicken sandwich once. I Got two different bowls, both very good. And trust me. Most disappointing Our Town's Planning & Zoning Comm has already handicapped this start-up by saying they can only have 8 seats for diners. I guess Darien doesn't want people to sit while they eat? Sandwich selection is extensive but the three I've had so far have just been "meh": Korean BBQ was just hot roast beef, White Bean Hummus was mostly vegetables and pre-packed Fresh Turkey was on nice bread but wouldn't pass muster w our Health Inspector. I went into this place by accident looking for coffee. I never ordered coffee but did order food. I had two salads and they both were amazing. I eat very healthy and a good healthy premade salad can be hard to find. This place hit the mark with their salmon salad and their cob with chicken salad. Yummy. I will return. The staff here are great. Always friendly and work hard. The place is clean and inviting. Good wifi as well. I'm so happy they carry Oat Milk and make it a point to get either an oat milk latte or oat milk hot chocolate when I go in. The brussels sprouts (side order) are great as are the hummus/grain bowls. Was not impressed with this place, and went in with high hopes. I've ordered their smoothies off Uber Eats before, and they've been top notch. I popped in today for lunch takeout. To start, I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, and was directed towards a fridge - disappointing that not all of their sandwiches are made to order. Also weird that their chicken salad is chunks of chicken. I also ordered an avocado toast, also disappointing. Bread wasn't toasted and was soggy, and the avocado mash was an unappetizing brown. Absolutely delicious! The food here is extremely fresh and tasty. I swear that their avocado toast is the best avocado toast I have ever had. Also, their chocolate chip cookies are very tasty and are cooked fresh everyday. The only issues I ever have here are that it gets extremely crowded at peak hours in the morning and sometimes it can be hard to find a place to sit. Then because food takes forever the parking is a mad house because spots don't turn over.
