I was on a food tour in the Mile End area of Montreal, and in between stops this Caffè Grazie Mille caught my eye. While this wasn't a formal stop, it was right next door to a place we had just sampled. Since there was a slight lull in our tour, I decided to take advantage and stop here for a little coffee and treat. CGM sits on a corner, and like many coffee shops, is not large. There's a small amount of seating on one end with the display case and ordering counter on the other. Decor is somewhat generic - there's not much to see outside of the bakes on display. They had a really good selection of Italian pastries, though I was really looking for a cannoli so I ordered two and a coffee. The cannoli were excellent, I was actually taken aback by how good they were. They were filled to order so the shell was nice and crispy, and the cream had ricotta which really came through. One of the best cannoli I've had in a minute. The coffee was good as well - nice and strong. Service was good, the man behind the counter was very charismatic. Overall, Caffè Grazie Mille took my by surprise in a good way - definitely a place I would return to next time I'm in Montreal. read more

There are some folks who will want to go as a group to a cafe, order, and then sit with friends for a time eating, drinking, conversing. That won't be the atmosphere here, except for very small tables along the wall. And that's fine - not every cafe is for every person. But if you want to visit one where you have an owner who loves conversation with his customers (plus some corny jokes), much more personalized service, and some good pastries, you might think highly of this place. It was also coincidental that I visited here during a Canada World Cup Soccer Match, and every other cafe in the area was bursting at the seams with excited fans. This place was calmer, no line, quick service. I bet it has a strong local following too. read more

Came in to beat the heat. Not too busy. Got an iced coffee with milk and a bottled pop. I was short around $0.50 cash so I offered to pay with card but the ?owner said it was close enough. Super kind! Coffee was great. Some neat Italian products available too. Bathroom available just ask the cashier before using. read more

Our first trip to Montreal, and we loved it! This beautiful little Italian market offered delicious cappuccino, croissants and...cannolis! We walked there for coffee from our apartment two mornings and wish we could do so every day. Friendly and fun conversation with the owner and another lovely lady on Sunday. The area has several interesting restaurants and shops, including a lovely walk up kitchen door take-out place to purchase pasta (cash only) that sent out the most amazing scent of garlic buttery love. We came here for coffee, after going to Fairmount Bagels. WHAT A FIND! The husband/wife owners are so funny, warm and just great people! The coffee, Americano and Iced was FABULOUS, and we both know good coffee! They told us we could eat our bagels in their store and even brought us plates and knives - I could not believe it! They did not want us to pay for our drinks until we were done - they just wanted us to enjoy - another first for us! I've been coming to this place, all the way from New York City for many years. I can't help at but laugh at the clowns who have written negative reviews about this place. Their is no need for this; Take my word and my friends will agree - This place may have the best coffee and expresso on the planet earth; I just can't seem to figure this out - But, they do. I typically hit up Schwartz's before I go there. I bring my "Sack" of Bagels and enjoy them with the amazing coffee and beverages that are served here. They have a lot of food options; I'm not a fan of these - Because you have Fairmont Bagel a few doors down; But - whatever floats your boat; Again - I am coming here for the amazing coffee and coffee drinks. The owners are super friendly people! A Sister and Brother. They are extremely hard working people and very kind. I think, the store is primarily run by the brother - He is really a nice guy and goes out of this way to make all the customers feel special. Again - Another must on my list when I roll into Montreal; You will not find a better cup of coffee. These guys are the true masters. On the hunt for coffee after I ate at fairmount bagels I stumbled upon caffe grazie millie. I was truly just planning on a coffee but I saw all these amazing treats and I knew I needed to try something. I saw the stack of empty cannolli shells and a freshly made cannolli sounded awesome. I ordered a double shot espresso with a mini cannolli. My friend ordered a cappuccino with an almond biscotti. The coffee and treats were ready quickly. This espresso had to be the best I have ever had. I put no sugar in it and it was prefectly balanced not overly bitter and great drinkable temperature. It was an espresso I wish was the size of a cup of coffee I just wanted to savour it forever. My cannolli was also fantastic. The cream was super light and delicious. You can tell it was freshly made. I got a bite of my friends biscotti and it was also amazing. It was a little chewier than most biscotti I have had in the past which I prefer. Aside from baked goods this cafe has a wide menu of great looking sandwiches, salads etc. A lovely place to grab lunch or coffee. read more
