The brûlerie was was super close to our Airbnb, so it naturally made sense for us to stop here. The brûlerie sits it the bottom level of a row house, typical of businesses along Rue St-Denis. It's quite spacious, with a decent amount of seating and a large production counter. The counter itself is separated into two sections with one place to order beverage and food, and the other to order coffee beans in bulk. The coffee selection here is massive and separated by different regions/countries. I decided to get a cappuccino and a croissant - both were good. I also decided to sit in lieu of taking to go and it was quite comfortable there to just relax and sip. The croissant was also good, though I had a piece of my dad's scone and it wasn't good - too dry, even for a scone. Service was good, and overall I had a pleasant experience at Brûlerie St-Denis - worth a stop in if you're in the area.

Since there was a slight lull in our tour, I decided to take advantage and stop here for a little coffee and treat. CGM sits on a corner, and like many coffee shops, is not large. There's a small amount of seating on one end with the display case and ordering counter on the other. Decor is somewhat generic - there's not much to see outside of the bakes on display. They had a really good selection of Italian pastries, though I was really looking for a cannoli so I ordered two and a coffee. The cannoli were excellent, I was actually taken aback by how good they were. They were filled to order so the shell was nice and crispy, and the cream had ricotta which really came through. One of the best cannoli I've had in a minute. The coffee was good as well - nice and strong. Service was good, the man behind the counter was very charismatic. Overall, Caffè Grazie Mille took my by surprise in a good way - definitely a place I would return to next time I'm in Montreal.

The focal point of the bakery is of course, the counter. There is a paper ticket system for service on busier days. When I went in, it was quiet so ticket optional. We were greeted right away by friendly staff. When I asked for recommendations, Marie took me on a visual and descriptive tour highlighting some of their specialty products. I went for the seasonal maple roll dusted with icing sugar, topped with white chocolate chips and a maple crust. Also took a slice of pear almond tart. They were both $4.50 each. The maple roll was densely packed and so much more than a snack. It's really bready so you could have it for breakfast. Slightly sweet and covered in a light glaze. The tart was light tasting and the pastry was full of buttery goodness. Texture is a little bit interesting because it's a cold tart, the juice from the pears soak into the almond paste and make it a little bit cold and slightly mushy. Some people might not like that but I found it ok. Service is friendly and attentive. Pastries are good but a bit expensive.
