Bustling italian coffee shop, feels like something out of Italy! The cappuccino and cortado was very good! Also had the gelati!

Came here for coffee after lunch. My friend also try some of sweet stuff but she just doesn't like it, coffee is good anyway. Super chilling and easy place. Price is good and staff is friendly.

A local caffè in Little Italy perfect for people watching and perfect for grabbing a cappuccino! In fact I stopped in twice in one day for quick pick me ups. ++. Ambiance is local social gathering spot inside or people watch from their side walk seats on St Laurent. ++. Espresso bevies Italian style. I ordered at the bar to go - my cap was so tasty that I returned a few hours later for another :-) +. Service is friendly and fast +. Price is reasonable.my cap was CAD$3.50 + tip. - Parking is street (metered) and tight. Best to walk or Uber/lyft/cab.

The.best.coffee. So old school , so delicious and as soon as you sip on that coffee , it just instantly puts a smile of your face and kinda makes you forget the world is even here.. I know it's so intense! But it's how I felt! And honestly i would drive there daily if i could so i can just enjoy that moment! .. its delicious when you have it there & it's just as good when you have it to go! .. today was a "to go" kinda day and it was the perfect cup of coffee for this perfect rainy day. Felt all the love that they put in into making it..

Husband and I had been walking around Little Italy, exploring the area and we passed by this Cafe. We decided to take a break and grab some coffee from here! We ordered Coffee and Cannolis and took them outside to their outdoor sitting area!! The Cappuccino was excellent and the husband loved the cannolis too. It's a great spot to just relax and watch people walk by! Would definitely walk to Little Italy for a coffee someday soon!

After a week in Montreal and trying about 7 different coffee places, if have to say that this was the best out of all of them. Unfortunately, it's not the best I've ever had. It's so unfortunate to be spoiled by such great coffees and espressos! The ambiance is like that of a sporty cafe where elders and men stop by to watch a soccer game, read a newspaper, and enjoy a nice cup of latte or cappuccino.

I was really craving for some good coffee, my sister-in-law is Italian and every time we are in little Italy she passes by Cafe Italia, she says they have the best coffee, so obviously my choice would be to come here. It was around 9pm and the place was full of old Italian men talking loudly and laughing and probably reliving their youth. It was actual nice to see, we sat down and the girl behind the bar came and gave us menus and said that they had some cookies and pastries up front and if we wanted anything to let her know. We ordered two cappuccinos and 2 biscotti's. Cafe Italia has been here for a long time and you see all the pictures they have through the years. It's very homey. Although almost everyone was speaking Italian, but I truly enjoyed my surroundings. Now for the taste, the cappuccino was so gooooood, best cappuccino I have ever had, the biscotti's were huge, not your average little cookie, but ginormous. I was really happy I gave it a try and would definitely be coming back soon.

Busy, loud, lively, fast, somewhat chaotic - that's how I would describe Caffè Italia. A cafe that doesn't try to pretend to be what it's not and stays true to what it is - a historic icon where local patrons in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s+ drop in for their espresso, dunk their panettone, watch some sports, pay (cash) and then leave to carry on their day. Open from 7am till 11pm this place just never seems to stop. Sitting at the bar you'll often see an order of 10 or more cups that come all at once! Amazingly no words are exchanged between waiters and the Barrista. I was trying to decode the system, a combo of saucer, glass spoons and positions that minimizes the need to talk and focus on delivery! Spoon in cup means decaf, two spoons on plate is an allongé, spoon down is double shot, etc. Tip: Don't try to sit at the corner table unless you're looking for dirty looks. This where the older italian men hang out to talk about soccer, politics and sometimes about weather. "Keep it real is what it's all about... Montrealers like it like that" I was told by a regular. You won't see any fancy foam art but the crema is thick, exactly what you would expect from fresh coffee beans being hit at the right temperature and 12 bars of pressure. All drinks are very reasonably priced: Espresso at $1.75 and Latte or Cappuccino at $2.75! Food-wise staples are mortadella, capicollo or salami sandwiches, toasts with choice of jam, peanut butter or Nutella and your traditional variety of italian sweets. Interestingly enough, behind the counter, where cigarettes packs used to be displayed, you can get hard to find Italian men grooming items such as Proraso (Italy #1 shaving cream), Felce Azzura (Talc Powder) and Pastel del Capitano (italian toothpaste). The original owner is a nice lady who just recently celebrated her 76th birthday. She inherited the cafe from her parents who moved from Italy and opened this place when she was 16! The place is now run by her two daughters backed by a clever Barista (Paolo) and staff that crack you up if you pay attention to what they are saying. No frills, no fuss just good caffè - this is what it's all about.

Definitely a mom-and-pop kind of place. Seems like it might be family run? The guys behind the counter were friendly to the customers. Very modest decor (some chairs and tables with a TV). They sell a hodgepodge of Italian things from coffee to sandwiches to toothpaste and lotions. Amazing expresso there! I don't know what is unique about it, but it was one of the best cappuccinos that I've had in a while. Had a nutella toast to go with the capp, and it was enough for a morning meal. Plus it was cheap too ($5 CSD)!

If I was Toni Soprano, I would certainly hang out here with all my compadres. If you're from Montreal, and never visited this place... "Ma che cazzo fai". A Montreal classic that is well worth it!

yum!

There is nothing more satisfying to me to find a Montrealer owned coffee shop! There is quite a few, however a coffee shop that is as old as the times. , A montreal made all italian , coffee blessing! A soccer (or is it football) fan delight I implore you while visiting the Jean Talon market go across the street and visit this lil slice of italy.

Panettone

Excellent coffee, cappuccino, and panettone. Nice sandwiches. The cafe is on the smaller, more cramped side but is a good place in winter and to people watch in the heart of Little Italy. Tables and counter/bar seating. Cash only.

Hermon A.

Best cappuccino I have ever tried, I even had to get a second cup if you're ever around little Italy in Montreal, give it a try, you won't regret it!

Restaurants in Montreal with the name of an Italian region - 2 of 2…read more I had seen Restaurant Siciliana before. It is on Rue Stanley, not too far away from the Peel Metro Station. Rue Stanley always makes for a chuckle. I have known very few people with that name. However, it's the eponymous name of a (not even) B movie about someone's dangerous pet snake. I looked at the menu board at around lunch time. It seemed like a generic Italian restaurant, with a broad-based Italian menu and not one that was particularly Sicilian. But this was at lunch time, and I was walking down the street with something to do. I returned for dinner another day. Everything at Restaurant Siciliana was sort of perfunctory and ordinary. The interior is old school and has the red and white check tablecloths. The wood fired pizza oven is visible from the restaurant. They seat you quickly and I wanted to sit closer to the back and next to a wall, to which they obliged. Since I could not find a wall outlet, they were willing to charge my phone for me. I did not want a pizza. For that, I might go to dei Compari, which I very much like. I was looking for pasta. Since I couldn't see what it might look like or what others had ordered, I settled on the trio - three types of pasta. I've seen this done before at other Italian eateries and, within reason, they allow substitutions. Here, the wiggle room is not that much (that means no filled pasta or lasagna/e) and there is an upcharge for the allowed changes. I wanted to swap out a pasta with Alfredo sauce and they did so for another pasta that is also on their menu at the same price, but with a $3 upcharge (for U.S., divide by ~1.36). Is that that much of an inconvenience? Everything was ok - one in a Bolognese sauce, one in a rose' sauce, and one in a pesto sauce - except that the pesto sauce was a little oily and didn't sit with me. To drink, I had a ginger ale. I'm beginning to like that stuff. The service was good. It was also expedient, albeit a little reserved. This was a 3-star event and, going forward, I will continue to look for other Italian (and Sicilian) restaurants in the area. I would love to know of an authentic Sicilian restaurant in the agglomeration that is Montreal. The very first Italian restaurant at which I ate in Montreal was just up the street, at Stanely and Maisonneuve. Either a Chapters or a newer building went in. That restaurant was more of a diner, which explains why it wouldn't be there - close to the financial district - anymore. Change can be hard to accept. I remember that that was also the first time I had heard the term rose' sauce. This is what Eastern Canada refers to a pink tomato-cream sauce. The middle-aged dark-haired woman who helped me had to have been from the western part of Montreal or its island, spoke perfect English with mannerisms suitable for an Italian neighborhood the Northeastern U.S., and looked like Kaye Ballard. I would have preferred a restaurant like that to this one for the price-quality rapport of the food and a Rue Stanley/Financial District location. If you are a tourist and your time is metered, I might skip this one. If you are a local, you can try Restaurant Siciliana for pizzas and/or pasta and see if it suits you.

Since, like French, Italian is gendered, Trattoria Siciliana would be correct but I'm not so sure about Restaurant Siciliana.

Cafe Presto was a unique little storefront restaurant. We were standing around outside wondering…read morewhere to go have dinner when the owner of this little place stuck his head out and said "come on in." With such a quirky start, we did just that. Inside this little place there are maybe a dozen tables ... mostly for two. The place was casual, unpretentious, and relatively inexpensive. Service was friendly and spot on. Now the owner who drew us in - whatever his name - does it all here. He seated us, we saw him clean off some tables, and he goes back and forth in the kitchen personally making each dish. He had only two helpers ... one doing dishes and the other helping wait the tables especially when he was fixing a plate. The meals are essentially light pasta with light sauces ... nothing much heavy here. It is meant to be a quick lunch spot, and only stays open a while after hours. The menu - posted in the front window - is written on a sheet of paper and usually is about 8 different pastas and sauces; after you sit at a table you will find that the current list is generally smaller as they have run out of stuff during the day. Be that as it may, it was pretty good food. We had the Canelloni Rossini (4 stars with a light red sauce), Penne Arrabbiata (4 stars with another very light sauce), and a Calypso Salad (4 stars with very nice greens). The big takeaway was that he can make any kind of quick pasta and put any one of his light sauces on it for a quick meal. The sauces were nice - very light but nice. The pastas could have been a bit fresher. Interestingly, they only take cash - and that is not mentioned on the front window. He does have an ATM machine inside to help you cover the cash, but he should really announce this out front, especially for all the tourists that are in Montreal. Our bill came to $70 and he wrote down $80 ... maybe he included the tip for us - don't know, but pay attention to your bill on the way out. In fairness, the prices are reasonable here - $4.95 for a glass of the house Chianti, and every one of the pasta meals were simply $9.95. Canoli were $6.00 each.
