When I step into a hookah bar, especially one run by a someone from the Middle East, I expect a much wider selection of shisha. They had a small assortment of Al-Fahker flavors and while good, Al-Fahker is not a strong tobacco, and that's the only brand they carry which I was disappointed in. Note: If you want natural coals, you'll need to ask for them...and I noted that coal service was excellent) The drinks and the food were excellent and the place had a cool vibe to it, but then again it is close to a college, so that was to be expected. It got crowded during our two hour stay and when we left the place was at least half full of people, all enjoying hookah, sipping on drinks (tea, mostly) and enjoying some of the great food that they offer. All in all, a good relaxing place with a cool vibe.

They have brown & black leather chairs and marble top tables. The place was filled with clients (both female & males) - this may seem like an odd comment but a lot of hookah lounges seem to attract an older mostly male clientele. My friends and I were very pleased to see a lot of female as we just left another hookah lounge after feeling out of place as it was a sausage fest (excuse my language). The music was on point as well! The hookah it self came with variety of flavors. They had a large selection of drinks (alcoholic & non alcoholic). Points for great indoor ventilation which appears to be lacking at most hookah lounges. It would have been great to have food options. A lot of customers seem to be ordering pizza and eat there.

The peach mint didnt pull well, meaning no billows of smoke. If you are going to make a hookah, you need to ensure that you are putting out the best product. Also, why would this establishment serve Puck coals rather than cubes. Then again no one in MTL knows how to make a Hookah.

Cafe Ali-Baba is the shisha place with the most comfortable couches in Montreal…read more Normally that alone would be enough to secure its dominance over the shisha market, but they make it interesting with the ambiance. Traditional Turkish style lanterns hang from the ceiling, the music that plays over the sound system is chosen by guests, there's a laptop playing music on YouTube available for you. The shisha quality is consistent and very good. You'll notice the pipes are Khalil Mamoon and the tubes are sturdy Starbuzz pipes. I think the tobacco they use is Al-Fakher. There's no food but if you can believe it they don't mind if you have pizza delivered there or bring something in to eat. In terms of drinks they have a selection of those Arabic malt drinks called Barbican, an espresso machine and of course Moroccan mint tea. Overall, if you're looking for a place where your squad will feel welcome and comfortable to chill, Cafe Ali-Baba is for you.

You might observe the sign over the doorway, but that doorway does not lead directly into the cigar lounge. Instead, you walk up the steps from the sidewalk through that doorway, through a part of another establishment, then back to a two flight stairway to the upper floor where the lounge is located and greeted by the bouncer. That is the first clue this is not a cigar lounge one typically expects from the US or elsewhere. Stogies has a club vibe more than a relaxed lounge vibe. It caters and targets a young audience in their 20s and 30s. The music volume is elevated and also targeting a young audience; no jazz, no salsa, no old school R&B. You will have to elevate your voice to match the volume of the music. These qualities detract from the experience one might ordinarily expect and these are the primary reasons Stogies does not score highly with this review. Emma, our server, was the standout and patiently explained things to me. Stogies is the only exclusively cigar oriented establishment in Montreal owing to their laws and regulations. It is among a number of places grandfathered into the license. The others are restaurants where one can smoke in select areas. Stogies is exclusively a cigar lounge and not a restaurant or bar. They have a humidor, but it is not large. They sell Cubans with their own Stogies bands over the original Cuban bands, but those will cost you given the high Canadian tax on tobacco, and how much the Cubans have raised prices recently. You are not charged a cutting fee for bringing your own sticks, which I fortunately had one. However, the liquor pours are paltry and even a double is less than a single in the US. So this is where they will get you; though, everything else is reasonable. The lounges will get you one way or another like taxes. I would recommend coming here during daylight hours and during the weekdays when the music would be toned down and the atmosphere a bit more laid back and conducive to work or conversation. There is a balcony with seating and an awning covering it that looks out onto the street below, where one can sit and enjoy a relaxing smoke as long as it is not too cold. Otherwise, the interior ceiling and ductwork are painted black, contributing to a club decor. The bathrooms are back down those steps for reference and it was my last stop before departure and the Uber to the hotel. My friend forgot her umbrella and Emma caught me downstairs near the front doorway before we left. Emma, if you read this review, thanks for being a great person and host. Management, pay attention. 3.5 stars

The night was pretty entertaining. Dont except them to play any English music or what not. This place only plays Arabic music. This place looks great for birthdays and big groups. This place was still full of people even tho they don't do shisha during the weekend. Bottle service is not too expensive For food it was a fixed price for us maybe because we were a group, we all paid 60$ each and got a few different mezzes, by the time the meat plates came no one was hungry anymore I felt like the price of 60$ was expensive, I was expecting 40$ max. The first time I was there was for a friend's birthday. The restaurant isn't very big but it makes it cosy and when it fills up with the music and the lights dimmed, it gives a pretty nice atmosphere. The food we had that night was a pre-chosen mezza for 35$ each. I wasn't VERY happy with the mezza just because it didn't include a lot of variety for the price (for example, there was no tabboulé, the fattoush came in a weird bowl and the manakish (which aren't part of the usual mezza) were made on this weird pita bread that made it hard to eat). It also took a long time to get the meat and fries. Now for the drinks, I have nothing to say. The drinks are good and the alcohol in them is generous. I've tried the red sangria and a mojito (10$ each), both were delicious! The music on that night was fun and although you can't really dance because of the tight space, we found a way to do so and to celebrate! The second and third time I was there, I was with less people and we ordered food from the menu directly. Let me tell you: it made a huge difference!!! The nachos were delicious, as well as the vegetarian sandwich I had the second time. I also reordered every drink I've had the first time since they were so good and even 9 months later, they didn't disappoint. The shisha service is good. They have multiple flavours and there's a designated waiter that goes around tables to check on every shisha.
