Cain Park is a charming spot for concerts, tucked away and waiting to be discovered in Cleveland. It resembles a scaled-down version of the Blossom Music Center, featuring both a covered pavilion and spacious lawn area. Recently, I attended a lively performance by the Red Hot Chili Pipers, but I have also enjoyed other events such as The Cleveland Ballet at this venue. read more

I've been to Cain Park to utilize their hill/open field area for exercise and really enjoyed it. However, I had no idea how nice of a performance area there was at Cain Park! We recently went to see a concert and opted for lawn seats. We were close enough to the stage and we were happy with the sound quality. As torrential downpours approached, lawn ticket holders were invited into the seating area. We were grateful for the cover during the thunderstorms! Remember that Cain Park concerts take place rain or shine when you purchase your tickets! I liked the lawn seats, but I think I would splurge for an actual seat just to avoid having to sit in the rain in the future. The concession stands at Cain Park are also nice. I really appreciate that they support local breweries and have a number of (reasonably priced) options available. I would go back to see a concert at Cain Park in a heartbeat. Love Cain Park venue. However... Parking sucks big time. Especially handicap parking. My other peeve is people that come to a concert late. If it starts at 8 pm be there b4 hand. It's rude to the artist and rude to all the people there on time. I missed about 2O minutes or more because people were sauntering in and in my view of the stage. If you're late you should be made to sit on the sidelines. Period. End of discussion. read more

When I think of Cain Park, I honestly just smile. It's one of those places that feels so Cleveland to me in its identity. Its part park, part concert venue and feels just off-the-beaten-path enough. This is one of the only places where you could easily spend all day here: walk your dog, have a picnic, stay for a concert. It's easy to get in and out of and that may be because Cain Park is located in the suburb of Cleveland Heights. The prices are always reasonable and the atmosphere still feels intimate enough for a concert. Think Blossom Music Center, but much smaller and with a stronger grassroots community feel. Cain Park is always particularly poppin' when the weather starts to get nice out. They do an amazing job curating entertainment here. I've seen everything from local bands to big name r&b singers. The park is always immaculately clean, even down to the swings and sandboxes. Anyone from the immediate area will tell you that Cain Park is a spring/summer staple. It has great vibes and you know that the city of Cleveland Heights takes soooo much pride in this great park! read more

The best place in Cleveland Heights all year round! Lolly Trolley was running and scooped us up from the City Hall and dropped us on the west end of the park. This place is like Blossom on a smaller scale! I was there last week for the Arts Festival and as usual, lucked upon some lovely handmade jewelry. Never a dull moment of artists and expressions, but bring your comfy shoes because it is a Looong walk from one end of the raft booths, past the main stage to the other booths! Terrance Simeon was playing on the big stage with a few accordions and that dazzling smile... and tossing so many beads that I actually danced away with three strands! The weather was perfect, and the park was in full splendor. If you have never visited Cain Park, get there! read more

Been here for the art walk, concerts and just a picnic in the park. It's clean, family-friendly​, and fun. I highly recommend coming to an event here or just taking your pup for a walk. It's a safe area and the food off Lee Rd is always really good! The only rough part about it is the parking situation is kinda a pain in the butt. I suggest carpooling if you go a bigger event or else you will have to walk. read more

Great place to hear live music or a show in the Alma. While parking is on the surrounding streets the venue is worth the parking inconvenience. Ticket office is always very helpful on the phone and in person. Sound and sight lines in the amphitheater has not disappointed. read more

What an amazing sunny day for the park. I love Cain park. It's clean and quiet. I love to sit there and read and also people watch. I can't wait until it's warm enough so I can bring my essle and paint. I had wanted to get my nails done. But, the shop was closed. So, I went home and picked up my 3 dogs. They also had a good time.. it was a but chilly, but they laid on the grass and enjoyed the sunshine with me. read more

Beautiful venue - great place to see a performance! Such a class act could use better dinner choices than chicken fingers and pulled pork sandwiches. The Mexican corn sounded appealing, but they didn't have it. If you'd like to try for a picnic box, call well ahead. The box office has very limited hours so calling the previous day before 4 pm is misleading. They open at 5 pm on Thursdays. Lousy customer service. Wine tasting is tiny plastic cups that teeter on a paper plate while you search for seating left something to be desired also. But it's really anout the venue and music - and those are excellent (pack your own picnic! ;) read more

I have many fond memories of Cain Park. The outdoor theater is great, the trails are great, the wooded areas, picnic areas and open fields are great. But my favorite memories are the huge sledding hill at the east end of the park. A long, wide, smooth slope with a great little hump across about half of the bottom of the hill. A hump of just the right size and shape to make rocketing sledders either catch some decent air or separate from their sleds in comical spills. The hill faces west-northwest and stays snow packed and icy a good deal of the time. On any given winter weekend you can watch scores of people cavorting, bouncing and crashing about all over the sledding hill at Cain Park. read more

I went to the Weird Al concert with my mother last week and we really enjoyed ourselves. The venue is great and it seems there is not a bad seat in the house. The lawn seats seem like a bargain. Cain Park reminds me of a smaller Blossom without any of the parking headaches. I parked down the street from Zagara's and it was a nice 10 minute walk to our seats. I will see one of the greatest songwriters ever perform at Cain Park this Thursday: Kris Kristofferson! I am so excited for the show. read more

This is my favorite outdoor venue. I can't say the same for the artist lineup...it caters to a more conservative, older crowd (I guess). But this review isn't about the booking. Over the years, I have seen a few concerts here. I have sat in both the pavilion and lawn. It's basically a mini-blossom, but way more relaxed. The place is small, so any seat in the pavilion is a good seat. The lawn is very small as well, so you are still in a good spot there. I recently saw Fiona Apple in the lawn and we were happy with our location. It's not like Blossom, where the lawn is a gazillion miles away and you can't hear anything. It was also very comfortable due to a steep slope. We were fine without chairs. What I really noticed as far as differences between Cain Park and other larger venues was the RULES. OMG, you can actually bring a blanket if you are sitting on the lawn! And I didn't get a full body cavity search on the way in. You are allowed to bring in a cooler and beverages. I'm guessing you can't bring in alcohol because they sell it, but it was nice to be able to bring water and things. It was refreshing to not feel like a criminal like other venues have the tendency to do. read more

There's just something about that stage, and the theater, and having it open air, especially in the warm summer months...it makes you believe that something special is going to happen. I ended up participating in three different productions there, including my first principal role ever in The Robber Bridegroom in 1995. I loved every single minute of it. Every evening when I'd arrive to do the show, and walking through the park to the dressing rooms...I'd feel like an actor in one of Shakespeare's original productions back in the day. Not to mention, heading to UDF for ice cream afterward. Or Tommy's for lunch on an all-day tech rehearsal. By far and away, the best theater I've ever come across. This place is a true gem of Cleveland, and hopefully always will be kept in that regard. read more

I've seen blues singer Robert Cray perform at least 10 times over the last 25-30 years. My first Robert Cray concert was at Cain Park, in Cleveland Heights in the early 90's. He performed "Move a Mountain" and that began my love affair with his music. He is one of those performers that sounds just as good live, as he does on his cd's. He is an amazing guitar player and I get lost in the emotion of his music. I hadn't been back to Cain park since that first concert all those many years ago, and had the pleasure of seeing Robert Cray there last night. He was as amazing as always, it was a wonderful show. I'm disappointed that it has taken me this long to get back to Cain Park, what a lovely venue. It's nestled back in a park setting. It's an amphitheater and any seat in the house would be a good seat. What I remembered the most about my first visit and it was confirmed again last night is that the sound is amazing! The seats are very comfortable (for an amphitheater) and you have plenty of leg room. There is a little grill at the top of the amphitheater that serves a limited menu of things like ribs/pulled pork/hot dogs/fries/popcorn/hot pretzels/drinks. Cheaper than what I would have expected. We had eaten before the show, so only did the hot pretzels, but everything looked and smelled wonderful. Everyone was so friendly, it was just a great night out. My only advice would be go early, so you can get close parking. It's in a park, so all of the parking is street parking around the park. We were lucky enough to get very close parking with a close walk right into the amphitheater, but I could see parking being a challenge, if you go later. I recommend seeing Robert Cray, if you love blues music and check out Cain Park, if you ever have a chance. read more

Awesome park tucked into Cleveland Heights. The ampitheater is so old-school and amazing. We saw a bluegrass concert there last summer and just lay on the large section of inclined grass behind the actual seating and looked up at the stars. It's a really romantic little nook in the city. The art fair is also really great and brings in top-notch artists from all over the country. We picked up a great painting for our anniversary last year and we love it! A wonderful, unique part of Cleveland Heights. Definitely check out an event here this summer. read more

Saw the prog rock dinosaurs YES back in August. It was the quintessential summer concert night. Humid, buggy, old folks, too much tie dye, too many pony tails, just pure fucking awesome. I have only a marginal interest in the band, but when I learned it would be at Cain Park, I had to go. I hadn't been in years. Parking was only a couple blocks away even in bustling Cle Heights. I was amazed. Guinness cans were like five bucks I think? Great deal. They do not try to gouge you in this place. the staff are all super smiley and the sound is pretty clear. Restrooms are decent. I'm too old for the Bonnaroo festival experience. I think I was when I was twenty. But this place suits my needs. You have to go at least once every summer. And never go back to crappy Blossom ever again. read more

Cain Park Amphitheater is hands down the prettiest music venue in Cleveland. It even has a leg up on Blossom (and the sound quality is much better). The venue is huge, but it is still completely hidden in the lush Cain Park Forest. The brick side walls provide a stunning contrast to the towering trees. You won't believe it existed this whole time, hidden in plain sight. I agree with others that the bands tend to be un-interesting. I typically only go once a year. But I do remember Fiona Apple rocking out to a sold out show. And when I do go, it's always exceedingly pleasant. read more

After they began letting dogs in this place seems 100x better! More People come here instead of using it being used as a gathering point of neglected children. There is now a community water/ sprinkler section to add to the community feel of the park (tennis courts, skate park, sledding hill, concert venue, and basketball Courts, playground). I you are interested in geocaching it will help you familiarize yourself pretty easily! Bring the kids to the sprinkler part and stay for a concert, what is not to love? read more

I first "flew" as Michael in PETER PAN in 1942 to an audience of about 3,000. This is my new favorite place to see a concert in Cleveland! Not sure why I waited this long, but within three days I went to see both Livingston Taylor and Michael McDonald. Good seats for both events and what I learned from the first concert, helped me at the second: Lessons learned: 1) "Play the parking game wisely". Or to put it simply: arrive fairly early and park on a side street being mindful of signage and other people's driveways. 2) "Plan something ahead of time". Once you've parked early, how about a picnic? or pre-order one from the venue and dine on the lawn, or in the park before the concert?? Or better yet, park near the Katz Club Diner and wait for a table.........no big deal if you wait a bit, you've already found parking and can walk to the concert a few blocks after your dinner. (Yummy food and reasonable too). 3) "Bring some cash". Alas, I was planning to use the ATM at the venue to get some cash for the "cash only" wine and beer sales counter. Unfortunately there is no ATM. Closest one is Berea, or at least it felt that way. 4) "Insect repellent is a good thing". Unlike Blossom, which fumigates within a ten mile area, Cain Park, being in the Heights, is not only a Nuclear Free Zone but also a " We don't see the need to spray for mosquitoes free zone"..........alright, it may be a bit long for a sign when you're entering the Heights, but it is true.....I think? Anyway, put this on your list to do next year. It is a Cleveland gem!! read more

Great amphitheater located in Cleveland Heights, Ohio near Case Western University. My husband and I attended the Fiona Apple concert on Friday, July 8th, and being a native Clevelander, was excited to visit a new to me music theater! Evans Ampitheater is tucked inside of Cain Park and offers stadium seating and lawn seating, which at least for the Fiona concert, costs as much as our seats. But really there isn't a bad seat in the house because of how small it is. Loved that they offered $5.00 beers, as I was expecting them to either not offer it, or charge $10-$15 like other music vendors that I am familiar with. If I lived in Cleveland, I would definitely seek out other musical artists at this venue! read more

Cain Park is a very nice park and amphitheater. It is a nice place to play tennis (if you're a Cleveland Heights resident, I'm not) or take a walk and relax. I went for the annual art show and it was very nice. There was a nice variety of artists whose locations ranged from just down the street in University Heights to Israel. The amphitheater looks really nice. I would like to see a concert there. I will update the review when I do. The park is tucked in a little valley and it's gorgeous with the trees and hills on either side. Overall, Cain Park is a great place to spend a couple of hours to either relax, workout or attend a concert. Again, just take note, many services are for Cleveland Heights residents only. Over the years we have seen some legendary acts (Three Dog Night and B.B. King come to mind immediately) at Cain Park at a reasonable price. Venue has always reminded me of a mini Blossom Music Center. Sound is crisp and clear and the sight lines are great - in both the pavilion and the lawn. We are going this Friday for Dancing Wheels with tribute to David Bowie music. You owe it to yourself to check out their concerts. A few years back we even went to a Sunday afternoon FREE jazz concert! read more

However, it's clear that the structure of the volunteer operations (not the volunteers themselves) causes kinks in the program delivery; just be prepared to address layers of artifice when navigating the bureaucracy. read more

Cain Park is one of Cleveland Heights' best amenities. The annual Arts Festival (free to everyone) is a juried show that attracts many national and local artists. Throughout the summer there are concerts that provide a very eclectic mix of opportunities. There is usually one or two "big name" entertainers that perform each season. In addition to the concerts, the theater puts on two shows a season. The productions are amazing, the cast is talented and the setting is unbelievable. Since the park is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, there are no large parking lots, but plenty of on-street parking available. If you would rather catch the free shuttle from the municipal parking lot, there are schedules available, along with concert calendars on the park's website: www.cainpark.com. Lit tennis courts, a skateboard park, basketball courts and a wading pool are also available during the season. I believe the tennis courts and the wading pool are the only two that require a resident ID (available at the recreation center). I think that recreation ID's are also available to non-residents, but am not sure. read more

I was informed on Cain Park's Facebook that the way cameras and such are handled is that it depends on the performer(s) and their contract. So the reason I had my camera taken was because Nickel Creek does not allow cameras into their shows. I apologize to the venue for my ignorance. A northeast Ohio Icon that has been in business and vibrant for 75 years. I remember my parent talking about going dancing here in the 1950's. It is multipurpose, with sledding in the winter, but I really enjoy the summer concerts. Think B and C listers, and acts that were popular in the past. Still entertaining in this venue. Think a mini version of Blossom Music Center. Yes they sell food and drink before shows and you can go on line and order items in advance to make sure they have them when you arrive. The biggest issue (and one that almost made me give them four stars) is parking. Very limited accessible parking. Street parking for all others. They have a golf cart shuttle to help those with mobility issues, but it is still less than ideal. There is a shuttle service with parking to lots, but you need to check their website in advance. Overall, a cool, classic open air venue to enjoy a summer evening of entertainment in the middle of an urban neighborhood. read more

GROW UP CAIN PARK!!!! took in the seal concert at cain park last night - seal is a world class artist - cain park has some growing up to do if they plan on hosting these kind of artists at these prices. people, it's 2012, you need to be accepting credit cards or at the VERY least, provide atm's so that cash can be gotten. it's archaic, and not really safe in this day and age, to handle cash only. the venue speaks for itself, as it IS beautiful. however the staff could use polishing as well - in the span of 10 minutes we were told that "one of the lines would take credit, but you had to spend $ 10" and then told that wasn't the case, after waiting in line for 20 minutes. I was also told not to sit on a bench-like area outside the bathrooms, because "they're trying to preserve them" - apparently "they" being cain park - dude, put a sign up if you're trying not to have people do something, don't embarass people with snobby staff coming around like that. NOT world class. I'm not a hater, just saying, people paying $ 75 for a concert like that, EXPECT some ammenities. if cain park is going to host that sort of entertainment, get you act together. read more
