This is a cool little place right outside the 19th st bart station. They have Turkish coffee which is what drew me in . They have a chicken gyro and a beef gyro . Prices are fair and the best is on weekends open till 3 Am . Wish I lived around the corner. Almost nothing on this side of the bay is open this late . The coffee didn't have the right grind it was too course but I still love the place and their music . I went before and after a show at the Fox theater . They have a nice little menu with dessert different middle eastern fare . The service is nice polite people .

I think about this place at least once a week. That's how addicted I am to Cairo station If you're gonna visit, at least try their popular twist on a quesadilla!!

It was a late night on a Sunday and this is one of the few places that was open! It's a bit a hole in the wall for sure. I rlly like the sauce with the chicken but the chicken by itself lacked a bit of flavor. Pros: open late, great portion sizes, good secret sauce, salad dressing was good too Cons: chicken by was itself was lacking spices Value: 4/5 Ambiance: 2/5 Taste: 3/5 Service:4/5

What a perfect spot to get food here last night after the show at the Fox Theater. I had ordered the Falafel wrap, and it was good. The only criticism I have is that the wrap and tortilla chips aren't a good combo. Maybe for texture, but that's about it. Other than that, service was good though. The workers were friendly. Loved the Ambiance!! It reminded me of my recent trip to Egypt.

It was easy to grab dinner at this cozy Egyptian eatery before attending a show at the Fox Theatre this past Thursday. Lovely themed decor and an appealing interior setup. A few indoor and outdoor seating options (second level seating not available/ blocked off). I didn't get the most inviting vibe inside the restaurant, but the staff was friendly and provided standard service. There were no other guests while I was there, so barely a wait for my food either. Got the beef rice plate, requested the tzatziki sauce on the side, flavor of the gyro meat was good, a nice spice, but cut very thin so it was hard to really savor this dish. Stingy with the portion of rice too, but at least you can't overeat when they don't give you much. They were out of kofta around dinner time on a weekday, they also didn't have any diet beverages available, and bottled water was served lukewarm. Also, no paper products in the restroom (zero toilet paper and paper towels). I ate outside, cuz I didn't want my clothes to smell like whatever food they were cooking inside (the scent was strong). But then got pestered by a homeless person walking by while I was enjoying my meal. Metered street parking was free after 6pm on 17th Street. 3 stars for my overall experience.

This place was not too full, but the staff was pretty awesome. The beef shawarma is wonderful, the hummus is creamy and smooth. The prices are great! Their menu has a good amount of other things other shawarma spots don't have, but then again this is the only Egyptian place I've visited. Worth while , I would recommend

Amazing if you're going to the Fox theatre. The food is amazing

This small restaurant one block from the Fox theater really delivers in terms of super tasty food post concert. The beef shawarma was super moist and tender. My vegetarian friend had falafel and loved it. The staff were very friendly. It reminds me of the small hole in the wall gems of restaurants in NYC. We will be back!

Food was Meh. They were out of some items we wanted to order. Pita bread was stale, they didn't add as much meat as I was hoping. Had some meat, but not a substantial amount. It came with the Costco brand tortilla chips, also stale. And overall very pricey for the quality! Sorry guys, this one's not a recommendation from me.

Sad. Pretty much nothing Egyptian on the menu. And mostly very conventional "Middle Eastern" dishes They should change their name.

Great food! The chicken shawarma was excellent, just the right amount of spicy, and the white sauce on top was tasty.

Really enjoyed our meal here…read more Everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavor, and you can tell there is a lot of care that goes into the food. We tried a few different dishes and enjoyed everything we ordered. The flavors were well balanced and the portions were generous enough to share, which made it easy to try a little bit of everything. The service was also warm and attentive, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed. It's the kind of place that feels casual enough for a quick meal but still special enough to sit down and really enjoy dinner. They have a lot of outdoor seating as well (with heat lamps for the colder SF nights). Parking in the area can be challenging, would suggest to come for lunch instead of dinner.

They have a menu behind the counter that lists out all of the GF modifications (which is so helpful) just ask for it. You can also join the waitlist on yelp, which is a big time saver and so convenient. Why 3 stars then? I feel like they have become a victim of their own success. This place is tiny and it is PACKED. We were quoted a 70 minute wait time on a Sunday night. When our name finally came up we were offered a tiny table inside (outside table sidewalks are where you want to be, more room, good people watching) that could have fit two fine but was going to be a squeeze for 3 adults. We opted to wait for a bigger table/outside spot. Once you get a table then you have to go inside and wait in line to order. The space is small so expect to get bumped from every direction. The person behind the register was obviously stressed out and could not have been less friendly or less helpful. I asked for a glass of cabernet and she just said, we don't have it and stared at me. I asked if she could suggest another option and she did but it was a struggle. All of the workers seemed miserable. No one smiled, everyone seemed overworked and it was so hard to flag someone down if say your steak came out entirely raw, which mine did. It seems like the workers are either not getting the training or the support that they need to allow the overall experience to be good as the food.

Both were absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich, authentic, and full of that comforting Yemeni spice. The Yemenis top lamb fahsa with hulba (or hilbah), a whipped, frothy green condiment made from soaked fenugreek seeds, garlic, and a spicy chili paste called sahawek. I tried mixing it with fahsa but didn't quite like it. Everything came together beautifully, especially with the traditional fahsa flavors. Definitely a meal I'd recommend if you're looking to try authentic Yemeni cuisine!

So we went for the other items on that platter, which were the beef and chicken galabas. Beef quality was not good. Chewy. The Sheba six mix was alright. It reminded me of a meat frittata. The pepper sauces that came with the food tasted like it was literally just food processed peppers. As in it lacked seasoning and even just salt? Worst was the rashoush bread. We chose it because sounded like an upgrade from the regular flatbread, but it was shockingly unseasoned and dry, like eating a bready saltine cracker. For those 4 items +tip, it was $80 and not worth that pricepoint at all. The seasoning of everything overall was rather bland and uninteresting. We were trying something different, but it made us wish we went for Indian or Mediterranean food instead.
