Reem's is an absolute treasure, and Oakland is so lucky to have them! They don't just bring incredible, mouthwatering food to the community--they bring rich culture, history, and real depth. ​Back in June, my boyfriend and I swung by to grab a huge order of a bunch of pastries to bring down to my family in LA. Even though we cook a lot together and knew what most of the items were, the female manager and cashier were so genuinely present, hospitable, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. Super clean, modern presenting decor mixed with Arab culture. Its very hip and I love how you can see how the baked goods are being prepared right there whilr your waiting. You could just feel how much care and pride they put into everything they serve. ​As for the pastries? My family absolutely inhaled them. I can still smell the baklava walking out from her store. It wasn't even a full day before they were gone! In fact, they loved them so much that they made a point to get them again when they visited us up here recently. ​A special shoutout to Reem: we are obsessed with the sesame chocolate chip cookies (pro tip: get them slightly warm/toasted!), and that pistachio sticky bun is literally making me drool just writing this review. ​If you haven't been to Reem's yet, do yourself a favor and go. We had the pali cali and the la gringa wrap. Both were really good. It's def a pricier wrap at $20+ but it's big! You could easy split between two people and grab a pastry / side We also got the chocolate chip halva cookie which I loved as a tahini/sesame lover. I remembered Dyafa fondly (Reem's previous Oakland location), just a few steps from their new spot, so I was excited to see them return. The new space, in the old Miette bakery, is small and vibrant. It's takeout only, though there are plenty of outdoor tables around the square. When I visited, one person was running the register AND making the wraps. Despite seemingly doing everything, he was super nice and friendly. The menu is small (~5 items, plus pre-made goods), and the food smelled fantastic in the bag. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't live up to the aroma or the hype. Our two wraps were pretty small, and the flavors were muddled and forgettable. At almost $50 for two takeout wraps, we were both still hungry afterward. I could overlook the price and portions if the food were amazing, but it just wasn't. I love lamb so was thrilled for La Gringa, which Mission Local review described as "Arabic version of Tijuana's quesabirria" - dip it in the consommé! So good!! This place is really really tasty and you should try it! Came in maybe 20 minutes before closing and the staff was super accommodating, even though they were in the middle of breaking down the outside seating, and there was an obnoxiously loud and way too long train passing by. Ordered 2 la gringas to-go. Set me back $50+. I was starving and trapped by the train (Reem's legit took my order, finished making/packing my order, and the train was still going!!!) so took a bite in the car - that first bite was mostly bread and I think butter and it was so so soooo good!!!! speaks to the quality of ingredients. Got home and finished the rest with the consume - truly delicious! Partner also loved it. Just wish there was more lamb for the cost; it is filling though. This new Arabic bakery/lunch and dinner spot in Jack London Square got a lot of attention last month when they opened up. I came on a Monday afternoon around midday and there was a consistent flow but not overly busy. It is located near the waterfront so there is plenty of outdoor seating and peacefulness to the ambience to enjoy your meal or a coffee. One highlight is that there were a number of bakery treats, free samples, available for clients and patrons to try before deciding on their order choice. They do serve coffee to go along with the pastries you buy so you can come in for a small treat or get a full meal. The food took about five minutes to prepare during this not so busy time, but I would imagine going peak hours might be a little bit longer. I ordered the Pali Cali, the warm thick crispy pita really stands out when you bite into to find some pickled veggies and delicately balanced sauce and braised protein. The meat was tender and juicy x It is served warm which is also a big plus. I would've preferred a little more protein included for the price point ($21) but definitely 5 star on flavor. It appeared to me that the same small business that was closed in the Ferry Building few months ago has moved back to the East Bay, only to find a right retail space in Jack London Square! Reem's California was finally opened last Friday at the corner where the Amtrak train moved by here. Good to come back to Jack London Square since the Eat Real Festival. I came all the way to see how much Reem's continue to bring more Cali love for us. Cash will always be necessary once again. I know I want to have a nice long flatbread wrap, but I only purchased the red pepper dip paired with a bag of homemade pita chips. Supporting small local businesses like Reem's shows how much I have Cali love for them. Anyone living in the East Bay know how much we're there for Reem's. read more

Incredible! The freshest bread, the freshest falafel, and the freshest toppings. By far the best falafel I've had in years! Certainly not dry, and I could taste the herbs used in the falafel. The wrap was flaky and delicious, toasted freshly right in front of you. The restaurant was teeming with customers around lunchtime, so leave yourself at least 30 minutes to get your food, at least during its opening phase. Great service, friendly employees, and overall a huge asset to the local community. So excited to have Reem's back! read more

Neighborhood cafe with artisanal baked goods. The bakery serves Arab pastries and breads, filtered through French and California cuisines. The baked goods here are cafe staples with a few twists. We ordered a couple of sweet pastries -- baklawa and nammoura -- and a savory snack -- sesame loop with hummus. The nammoura is like a lemon pound cake, but it is prepared with yogurt in addition to oil. As a result, it has the moist crumb of a dense cake without becoming heavy. The sesame loop is effectively a large sourdough roll with an asymmetric hole poked into it. The hole made it easy to tear off a piece and scoop the hummus. This is a cozy spot to grab a pastry and walk out by the marina in the morning. If you live in Jack London, it would be easy to become a regular. read more

We heard about Reem's from an Instagram post with Mayor Bass and just had to try it. The freshly baked items were wonderful. We had a falafel which was delicious. My wife said the Hibiscus Rose drink was refreshing. I enjoyed a pomegranate beverage. There is outdoor bench seating. The restaurant is right next to the train tracks and the sound of the train's horn doesn't hamper the ambiance. Overall, it's great supporting locally owned businesses :) read more

So totally five stars!!! I am in love with this place. So close to my work so I can just walk over and grab this fresh delicious food. There are patio tables outside to dine on and a wonderful menu. I wanted to share some feedback about my visit this morning before heading to Dave & Buster's. I waited close to 15 minutes to place an order or be acknowledged, even though there wasn't a line at the time. I understand that the staff were occupied with food preparation, and I appreciate how busy things can get. However, a brief acknowledgment such as "We'll be right with you" would have made the wait feel more comfortable and welcoming. Additionally, I noticed that the half-and-half available had a best-by date of June 22, which had already passed, so I opted to use regular milk instead. I believe there is a great opportunity to enhance the customer experience with small gestures like timely greetings and ensuring items are up to date. I was honestly not expecting much when I came here, but ordering the flatbread za'atar instead of the thicker style I usually get was pure magic--chefs kiss. The fact that they make their pita in-house makes me want to apply for a job just so I can smell it baking all day long. Absolute 10/10 if you love za'atar as much as I do! read more

Tasty wraps that are quite expensive but then there is the fancy Jack London square location, so hey... the line was way too long though. 40 mins and there were like 10 people ahead of us. It's as though the staff went on lunch break during most people's lunch break? Train whistles are a bit deafening but it is fun to watch them go by.. parking is hellish, unless you are a palm tree in which case you have your own parking space! Food is great, we got both the chicken wrap and lamb wrap. Both were good, especially their wraps (the bread). We also got their baba ganoush, and I'd say it was good. Their pita chips were great. Their cookie was fantastic....highly recommend. My issue comes down to the setup of this location. Granted this is only day 2 or 3, it was just a long experience. They market themselves as a mostly takeout spot (according to chronicle), however they aren't setup to handle continuous wrap orders. They have 1 person making wraps and make one at a time in sequence of ordering. This resulted in a wait time from order to pickup of 35 minutes (not to mention 20 minute line to order- with only a few people ahead). I just don't see unless they refactor their setup how they would be able to handle a lunch rush - with 1 person making them on a small workbench. Any who in general, good food, expensive but what place isn't. This review mostly focuses on the setup and to warn folks expect long times for wraps and I wouldn't treat this as a quick grab and go. read more

Wow amazing pastries. Had a cardamon morning bun. It was sweet but not overly heavy. Still was light and great pistachio flavor. Had this lamb and onion pie which was savory and had some interesting spices. Server was fast and attentive and ever helped split the drink so my kids could share the lemonade. Had a lot of good little snacks and a like warp menu which looked good. Several different drink options. Enjoyed the wood standing table. Also a sitting area outside.
