The chicken was cooked nicely and the assortment on the appetizer plate was the perfect size for two people to share I particularly enjoyed the dolma, with a distinctly earthy flavor followed second by the falafel which was shaped like a little mini doughnut, and was fluffy and crisp on the outside. The hummus, taboulah, and baba ghanoush tasted fresh and paired well with the chicken and the pita. There was lots of seating available and I like the big old school booths, although the interior and decor are a little dated. My mind was blown at the price-this has to be the cheapest dinner I've had in the city totaling $17.45 each, which included tip. We were both happy with the portion size. Chicken isn't super moist but definitely isn't dry and flavor is there! As someone who prefers light seasoning for things, I can see how someone would think chicken was a bit salty but actually pairs nicely with hummus and carbs in my opinion. In terms of taste, the hummus is excellent, the pita was delicious, and the chicken had a bunch of flavor. That said, the chopped cucumber and tomatoes could've had a bit more flavor. The people there were friendly and the food came out relatively quickly. I'd have no qualms about returning. While I took the food to go this time, the restaurant was big enough and clean enough for groups to come and eat together. Personally, I don't understand why the price is as high as it. But this seems to be a trend among Mediterranean restaurants. I can see in pictures that the platter was significantly cheaper 1-2 years ago. Best Syrian option I've found in the Bay Area. If you don't know about Syrian food, it's considered to be some of the best in the Middle East. Offerings at Palmyra are traditional and very well done, like you would find at a cafe in Damascus or Aleppo. We started with hummus, which was smooth and tasty. Then we moved on to the eggplant (Moussaka) and beans (Moudamas) apps. Spices were noteworthy and the tomato sauce was something special. Then we had the chicken shawarma and falafel. Again the spices on the chicken were excellent and the falafel was the best I've had since one in Luxor Egypt, which is high praise. There are many gluten free options, but not gf pita. There are a few things I still dream about from our trip to Syria... The Rose petal jam on toast at breakfast and the video screens in a cafe in Damascus playing old black and white videos of 1950's and 1960's Arab music and the smell of fresh cooked beans and chicken. I could not decide between the Lamb & Chicken Wrap Shawarma so I opted to get 2 meals in one visit. Both wraps were generous, and bountiful but the Lamb was flavorful vs the Chicken which was dry. I might considered other offerings, but I refrain from eating Humus that is not made fresh each day. As for my experience with Palmyra, the order was placed via DoorDash and in this case their pricing matched the merchant. The online application was easy to use, and it prompted me when the order was ready for pickup. Given Palmyra is at a corner the cross street was used for the car so that I could run in for my Lunch / Dinner. Inside the space was slightly busy via seated customers, and a handful of persons waiting for takeout, but given my order was ready the bulk of my time spent inside was for the taking of images. The food was served pretty quick- with fresh pitas that had the right amount of warmth! I kid you not when I say this- I've had my fair share of falafels, but these might the best of the lot. The falafels were soft, had a crunchy exterior, and had sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Exceptional, no notes. The chicken shawarma was tender, flavorful, and a sizable portion as well. Prices are quite reasonable. I had the Falafel Wrap. It was considerably smaller than it was the last time I had one. Appreciated the fact they cut it in half. It was o.k., but only barely warm. Not hot food is my biggest pet peeve. I added fries $1.50 to the wrap and let's just say it wasn't brimming over. In fact, I was hard pressed to find "any" inside the wrap. It wasn't busy, there was no one in the restaurant, it was about 5:00 PM. May be better to go earlier in the day, maybe near lunch time, then the food might "actually be hot". read more

Decent spot for authentic Syrian food! I stopped by to pick up a lamb shawarma platter. The lamb was very flavorful and mostly tender. Overall, portions for the meat were pretty generous. The hummus was tasty as well. Meanwhile, the cucumber tomato salad was not memorable at all. The major downside with ordering takeout here was that the pita (2 halves) was packed underneath all the meat, which made the pita completely soggy and drenched in oil. I wish the pita was placed on top of the meat or packaged separately. My partner ordered the Syrian style wrap and raved about how delicious it was.
