Tour guide was great, funny and had a lot of information- he knew his stuff- I can't remember his name but he was fairly new to this tour. Boats were comfortable. I mean, we saw raccoons- so that was my highlight. Lots of gators- lots of gators. Staff inside was friendly. Nice little shop with merch, snacks and drinks.

I was not sure what to expect when I found out we were going to this. We had a 1030 boat ride. There is plenty of parking and this place is actually at the end of the road... the bridge appears to have been closed and blocked off. LOL We had Capt. Dave and he was fantastic. We saw a lot of alligators, racoons, snakes, birds along with some local information shared by the Captain. I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. It was a good time and saw a lot of wildlife. The place is well organized, appears to keep to a tight time schedule with the boats and it was clean in the bathrooms. If you have time, this definitely a must do in the area. We all loved it.
Very cool swamp tour to see different creatures and environments here in Nola. Our captain Lane is friendly, funny and very knowledgeable to give us a throughly 2hr tour. A must go tour when you are in town!
Our New Orleans swamp tour was awesome! Our Captain Rick was fantastic. He was as fun, engaging and told us some great stories. He introduced us to some of his swamp buddies, Frank Sinatra the blue eyed Gator, George the raccoon and all their buddies. Highly recommend the tour and ask for captain Rick!
Of all times we have visited New Orleans we have never taken the swamp tour. Our partners in crime on this trip insisted that we would all have a blast. So off we all went to Slidell, via Uber, for our tour. Slidell is at least 45 minutes to an hour travel from NOLA so give yourself some extra time especially if there is traffic. We had a pretty full boat but it was not crowded. Our tour guide was great and he provided history lessons, and some really great swamp stories regarding the area and the local residents. He had a number of funny jokes and some good ole boy banter with the other tour guides that we passed. We did get to see crocodiles, snakes, wild pigs, and racoons. All, except the snakes are familiar with the boats that they come right up to the boat to get treats. I swear the racoons almost jumped in the boat. There was one very narrow area where we saw baby alligators. We were told that they were hiding from the bigger gators and birds so they would not become a snack. Who knew gators were cannibals? This is a great experience but keep in mind if you are ride sharing there are not a lot of ride share cars in Slidell so you may wish to use their bus transportation. Details are on their website.
Our tour guide Captain Everett was funny, super knowledgeable and encouraged questions. This optional shuttle from the French Quarter was well worth the money. If I went again, I would do a private tour, but I enjoyed this experience. The only uncomfortable thing was the *heavy* pandering for online reviews by both the shuttle bus driver (really?) and the captain
We went on the swamp tour today at the 9:30am departure. We used our own transportation so I cannot comment on the bus transportation. Locating and parking at the facility was easy. Check in went quickly and the whole process was well organized. The boats have two rows facing out so you can see everything and not worry about your placement. Our captain made efforts to find as much as possible and spend time with each discovery. Wil was our captain and was fantastic. He answered questions and gave general information about the swamp and area. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a child with us and it was fun for all the kids on the boat to find alligators, turtles and raccoons. We saw a few alligators including two babies, egret, heron, one snake and raccoons.

Our group had a great experience with Dustin our tour guide! He was informative and kept our group tour lively. We saw snakes, wild boars, raccoons, gators, and turtles. We really appreciated how he took his time to make sure we saw as much as we could with wildlife. He knows a lot, and we'll be coming back again!
Normally, when I visit places I avoid tours at all costs. This place was completely different. Our tour guide Marc made this tour such a great experience. He showed us some great spots that had amazing wildlife as well as educational information about aligators and the environment itself. This is definitely worth a visit!
The Baseline: For a tour experience, the guide must be knowledgeable, the experience must be exciting and fun, and the value for the tour must live up to the expense. Our tour was in mid-April and in the morning. Guide: Captain Wil was a phenomenal tour guide! Engaging, informative, entertaining, and attentive to his boat. We couldn't have been luckier than we were to have him as our captain. The bottom line he made our experience safe and fun. Experience: You get to see the Cajun marsh and the bayou on this tour with an abundance of wild life that you would get otherwise. Cajun Encounters really has their process down and while a "point A to point B to point C, etc." type of tour experience it makes you feel like you aren't on that type of railroad and are touring in a sandbox. The amount of wildlife and info you get is pretty amazing for a 2 hour span. Great Experience! Value: We got good deal based off the hotel we were staying at and the value was worth the experience.

We had a fantastic experience on Deric's the drivers New Orleans Swamp Tour. Everything was well organized, ran on time, and exceeded our expectations. The bus ride included great information from the tour guide about the local history and area, making the trip enjoyable from start to finish. Captain Aaron was absolutely great and deserves the title of "Super Captain." His knowledge, personality, and ability to spot wildlife made the tour unforgettable. We saw everything we hoped to see and more. He made sure everyone had a great experience and clearly loves what he does. This was some of the best money we've spent on our trip to New Orleans. If you're considering a swamp tour, don't hesitate. We would definitely do it again and highly recommend Captain Aaron and Deric's Swamp Tours to anyone visiting the area. read more

Third time is a charm! This is my 3rd time taking a swamp tour with Cajun Encounters! This time I took their Honey Island Swamp tour and it was amazing!!! First, the tour bus #3 driven by Justina was prompt and on-time for the 8am pick-up at a hotel that was located near my hotel, so that was super convenient. Justina was very bubbly and energetic while most people on the bus still seemed a little sleepy, hungover, not fully awake on the overcast Sunday morning. She shared a lot of great facts about New Orleans, the impact of Katrina, NOLA culture and cuisine, and played an interesting video made by the tour company that showed off more about NOLA and surrounding ecology, etc. We arrived on time to the tour which was led by Xander. This time I picked the Honey Island tour instead of the regular swamp tour. There wasn't a ton of differences between both tours except the Honey Island Swamp tour took us further into the swamp. It was so beautiful and fun as tons of raccoons chased the boat looking for their favorite treats!! And no, the amazing tour guide Xander (Alexander) did not feed them marshmallows. He fed them a type of dried dog food type treat that they were going crazy for and one that is probably way healthier than marshmallows! :) Seeing all of the raccoons chasing the boat and their grabby little hands made me so happy!! That, combined with the absolutely breathtaking beauty of the swamp was an absolute highlight to my day!!! :) Xander made sure to highlight the various flora and fauna in the swamp, highlight which items were native or invasive to the swamp, gave local history, made huge efforts to show us wildlife whenever possible (he had a keen eye and spotted an alligator that was about 10 feet long and was so unbothered by our presence. The alligator did not run and hide. He/she just chilled in his little part of the swamp as we strained to take tons of pictures. First alligator that big that I've seen on the Cajun Encounter tours. I will say this --- it really matters what time of the year you take a Cajun Encounters tour. As I went in winter, the alligators go into their version of hibernation and they tend to just chill out in the water, slow-down their breathing and heart rate, and are not very active. So if you go during maybe spring or summer, you will possibly see more wildlife (while also enjoying Louisiana heat!)! I totally recommend taking this tour. Justina (great driver of Bus #3) and Xander (Awesome Guide) were very welcoming and friendly and knowledgeable. I totally recommend a tour by this company versus the others! :) And go for the transportation add-on so you don't have to deal with driving out to Slidell yourself (though they also have parking that is free, I believe, if you happen to drive). Love, love, loved this tour! The beauty of the bayou just made my heart soar! read more

You guys this is definitely that splurge that's worth it. Had so much fun. It's ridiculous! Our boat guide captain Marc was just amazing. He was so knowledgeable about everything and made a point to make our tour memorable. Super cool guy and made fun with his coworkers we run into during the tour. He was very safe and considerate throughout it all. Our bus driver amber was also super cool! She also clearly cared about her job to make peoples day. So fun to be around the staff here not to mention the experience itself was beautiful and action packed! Put this on your list! Not to far from Texas to have a good time read more

Wow!!! Just wow! Our tour guide was Captain Hunter and he knew his stuff! He was entertaining and enjoyable!! There were six of us and everybody had a great time! We saw lots of alligators, and snakes, and turtles! Even a few birds, and even a raccoon! Well worth the money!!! Our boat was covered and that was worth it too because that sun can be brutal!!! Capt. Hunter took his Tim and told us the story of the camps and the back woods etc. An enjoyable time was had by all!! read more

Captain Tim was the best. I've been on a swamp tour with a different company before and while seeing wildlife cannot be guaranteed by any tour company, duration of the tour can be. On my previous tour with a different company, the tour was promised 2 hours or more and at least 45 minutes were spent inside seeing a rescue alligator on land and off the water, waiting for loading, instructions, etc. Captain Tim was prompt with this company tour really maximizing our time to the fullest out on the water. The landscape offered a lot more including history, landscape nature and tribal-wise, and of course with animal life. Captain Tim spotted multiple snakes, a racoon, and at least 5 gators. Now please keep expectations low because some swamp tours can show no wildlife at all. It's really a combination of the animals, the amount of ground covered, and your Captain. Here, we had 5 stars the best of all worlds and I would recommend. read more
First day in NOLA and we booked this swamp tour with Cajun Encounters. We met at the several bus picked up spots and it was a 40 min bus ride (costs extra, but worth it). Our bus driver Derek was great. He gave us a great intro to NOLA and shared stories, food suggestions the whole bus ride there - he did mention he wouldn't shut up the whole 40min ride there and he for sure kept his word!! So the ride itself went by super fast. We then arrived and our boat captain Aaron (aka A-Aron) was a great guide. We learned so much about swamp life and saw some locals like raccoons, alligators, snakes and turtles. There were different flocks of birds, plants and vegetation to see up close and personal. He was also kind enough to get all the angles and move the boat around so everyone can see them and capture good pictures. There were lemongrass patches everywhere in the swamp - it deters mosquitoes and I'm so happy I didn't get bit !! Would definitely recommend if you're looking to see how a swamp in NOLA! read more

Derek, our tour guide was absolutely phenomenal! My wife and I are here celebrating my 50th birthday and this so far has been the best experience and more informative than we could possibly imagine! The only thing we wish would've happened was we would've done this first! And cannot say enough about Derek! HE was a rockstar! We certainly will be giving him a nice tip Make sure you take good care of Derek as a company because I'll tell you what if I start an encounter tour here in New Orleans I'm gonna steal him from ya lol read more
Loved Derek and Emmett, great energy and made this excursion so fun! Our pickup time was 8 am -- we walked out and saw a Cajun encounters sign which was great to let us know we were in the right place. The bus came at 8:03 -- perfect. I only wish we got a text to doubly confirm the pickup situation, since the only text reminders are about the boat tour. I utilized this place for my plantation and swamp tour. They book your transportation for you, select a pick up spot mins from your hotel and all you have to do is enjoy the trip. The charter busses were clean, spacious and air conditioned (well needed in the summer). The bus drivers were friendly and the experiences were great. I'll definitely recommend this to my friends and family looking for a great NOLA experience read more

Our bus driver Derek was amazing & offered recommendations for food and tours. We booked with Seven Three distillery before we even left the swamp tour. His candid suggestions were really useful. He was also hysterical & made the bus ride seem like nothing. we dont know what hes making, but he should get a raise. Our tour guide was Chris (Goose). He was knowledgeable, well versed in the wildlife & knew a lot about both the wildlife and the plants. He answered all the questions our group had with ease and good banter. You can tell hes passionate about alligator conservation efforts & the swamps natural state. The knowledge of the tour guide was greatly impactful to our experience. we also dont know what hes making, but he should also get a raise. If youre considering booking but are worried about whether youll see wildlife or not- you WILL! the gators are everywhere and there are a lot of native bird species that are around. The front desk ladies (i didnt get their names, but did get to speak to both of them) were kind, prompt, and professional. Overall a GREAT experience! read more

Wil was great. Super informative and had a keen eye for all the wildlife out there. He was friendly, pleasant and we really enjoyed our tour. We saw raccoons, snakes, cat fish, birds, alligators and a huge spider. He was safe, informative and even had some friends out on the wild that came up to him. Definitely try this tour, you'll love it. read more

During my trip to NoLA, there were cajun food, crawfish, jazz music, but have you imagined yourself seeing herds of alligators up front?! As a Californian I don't see these type of wildlife often, but it was an amazing experience on this tour with Wade G. He's very humorous and educational (really knows the science and history behind these) so big shout out to our tour guide. It was very educational. Learned the true difference between a swamp and a bayou. Saw wildlife such as alligators (main course), racoons, snakes, crawfish, different types of sea birds, and turtles. There was also a an alligator snapping turtle that we happened to catch. It was freakish but amazing to see a snapping turtle upfront. That thing will bite off your hand if you stick it out far enough. Wade G did a little Tokyo Drift with the speed boat (nice speeding curve on the big river). Better hold onto your hats or else it'll fly away from the high speed. Saw houses along the river. Some of these are private properties as well. Towards the end of the tour, Wade took us to an area where there were a good dozen of alligators. He totally fed us to the herd! See the pics for yourself. read more

My group did the 2 hour swamp tour with Captain Tim and he was a great tour guide! He was very knowledgeable of the area and animals. He always kept the group engaged and we saw a few animals during the tour. It was the time of year where the alligators were coming out of hibernation so we didn't see as much. Overall he was great and recommend coming maybe during the hotter times of the year if you want to see more alligators! read more

Yes. There is plenty of parking space in front of Cajun Encounters and then you only have to walk under the bridge to make it to the main building.
