Ernie is a local with a lot of great knowledge about the city and the area. We took the cemetery tour at 10:30 and it was great! We are locals and we learned things about why the streets are named certain things, how the residents of New Orleans were buried and where. No matter where you are from, Ernie offers a great tour at reasonable prices and it is nice to have the one on one interaction with the small group sizes.

Stop reading this and call for a reservation immediately! I've been way down south to sweet old New Orleans 6 times, and every time I still play tourist and take tours. Ernie has been my guide for nearly all my tours. The man knows his stuff, and he is phenomenal storyteller. He also happens to have his degree in History. If you are in New Orleans take a tour it's great way to learn the history of the city in a fun way. Pay attention, and do NOT forget to tip the guide.

This tour was AMAZING. I hadn't gotten around to a review for a few months. I took 2 tours. One of the quarter and one of the cemetery. Both were great. Ernie is beyond knowledgable and makes the history lesson you're getting (in addition to the tour) fun. He speaks loud enough for everyone to hear and his pace is perfect. He was funny, personable and interacts with everyone. I would recommend his tour to everyone.

Ernie walking is through the secrets of the cemetery.

We specifically requested Ernie base on a recommendation from a co-worker. This was our first time to New Orleans and we were looking for something to do other than drink, eat, and sweat. Luckily we found something that gave us a break from two out of the three. Ernie is the epitome of tour guide. He has the brains and the personality to make a your educational without feeling like you back in 8th grade history waiting for the bell to ring. Here are some other tidbits of information that might be helpful for future tour attendees: - The Cemetery Tour lasted 2 hours - We walked around 1 - 1.5 miles total - There was a half time potty break at the visitor center - Road booze is permitted (obviously) Overall, I highly recommend booking a tour with Ernie.

This tour is a must. I wish I would have done it on the 1st day. I learned so much more about NO than I expected. It was much more than just cemetery and voodoo history. Tour guide was really great and knows what his people what and need to know.

Thank you Ernie! Ernie gave us a thoughtful and engaging tour that included loads of history about the development of New Orleans and the burial of its prominent Catholic residents. Well worth the cost, especially if you are a fan of history. A don't miss New Orleans activity!

ERNIE IS THE TOUR GUIDE TO SEE!!!!! He was so knowledgeable and so funny!!! We not only visited the cemetery but he took us on an amazing story on our way there. We visited the visitor center and he told us all about the arial view of the map. And the history with it. When we got to the cemetery Ernie took us through a very thorough tour and was funny and so insightful. Please go tour with him. He's the best!!!

my girlfriends and I took a tour w/ Ernie and it was great. He gave us a huge discount since it was about 12 of us. We probably shouldn't have done the tour in the middle of a mardigras parade but it was still enjoyable. He was very sweet and knowledgeable and stopped whenever we wanted to take a picture. He advised us where Brad & Angelina live and we might have gone back to stalk their home after lol. I really loved the cemetery it was beautiful in a very eerie type of way. Thank you Ernie :)

We meet up at the Voodoo Lounge, where there is a ticket office in the back room. We didn't live the bar--smelled a little bit like a sewer and the hurricanes were super sweet and kind of weak. But we did have but one get one, so wasn't that upset. The tour was great. We saw some interesting, haunted places and heard the history behind them. We didn't linger too long at any one place. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny, although he may have been a tad bit too heavy on the Catholic Church jokes. The tour ended at the LaLaurie house, and our guide shared a story about a little girl on who was recently on his tour who started crying and asked why there were dead people on the balcony. Spooky! I was so intrigued by what he said that I started looking up stories about Delphine LaLaurie and the haunting of the house. When I got home, I even started watching season 3 of American Horror Story, which has the character Delphine LaLaurie (accurate? No. Fun? Yes!). This was a fun way to spend the evening. There was an obnoxiously drunk guy on our tour, and our guide handled him well.

She came across like an overly dramatic theater kid who couldn't dial it back. Her mannerisms and constant theatrics were cringey, and while maybe one or two stories had potential, the delivery completely ruined them. She would randomly go off on personal tangents (where she lives, her parents, and other irrelevant details) that had absolutely nothing to do with ghosts or vampires and added nothing to the experience. The worst part was her points system, where she'd give out points if people followed instructions or answered questions. For example, when we stayed on the sidewalk instead of walking in the street, she'd shout "10 points!" and point at each person while repeating it. It wasn't quirky or fun, it was just annoying. I wouldn't recommend this tour based on her alone. After our awful experience we tried another company called Nola Ghost Riders and I'd highly recommend them. They are located at the Voodoo Lounge off Decatur St, while French Quarter Phantoms is at Voodoo Lounge off Rampart St.

Date of tour: December 21, 2024…read more After a wonderful food tour in Prague last year, we wanted to replicate the magic stateside while visiting New Orleans, a city with a rich food history and scene. As requested, I will keep the individual location names secret as to not spoil your potential food tour but also because the stops can change and I don't want to have you disappointed if you don't get the same places on your tour. Ty was a great guide, providing us with local history and culture as we ate our way down Magazine Street. The only complaint I have is that they didn't really interact with us during the food portions, standing or sitting off to the side, or running to the next location to make sure we were all set. To me, the guide should be not only the bridge between the locations and food with us, but also a bridge between the different groups on the tour. Ty told us before the tour started that the other folks joining us were from Michigan, but we found out from them later that they were actually from New York. Had these connections been made earlier, it would have enhanced the tour. On to the food, wonderful that it all was! Please note that I may make some errors in the actual names of the food, while I took pictures, I did not write down the names and there wasn't a post-tour recap to assist me! Stop #1: A local sandwich and a seafood side. Both quite good, especially since I don't like olives! Stop #2: An unusual meat that was shockingly good! Stop #3: Seafood options. I've had a different version of one of these items in Asheville, NC. This wasn't quite as good but still tasty. Stop #4: Southern favorites that were so good! I didn't think I would like these but I did. Stop #5: A peppermint fudge cupcake. Sadly, the weakest stop on the tour. Other that tried the gelato came away disappointed and my cupcake was neither overly fudgey or pepperminty. It looked pretty, though!

Our last stop was at a psychic shop where we did a tarot card reading and we're given a Pan Am cocktail. I highly recommend this tour. To say that the Storyville Museum achieved its goals and earned five stars would be an understatement; this may very well be the best museum I've visited in at least the past three years. The story of Storyville is complex, full of nuance, and with many unanswered questions. For me, one of the hallmarks of an excellent museum is that it lets these questions linger; the rough edges are not smoothed over, and visitors leave pondering big moral and ethical questions. That's exactly how I felt: the museum gave me a fantastic scaffolding of understand about Storyville, but it was also clear that its socioeconomics, its racial and gender dynamics, and its complex intersection with local, state and federal law are vast unplowed fields of potential for masters theses and PhD dissertations. For me, the intersection between prostitution and the political power structures were fascinating. Ton Anderson is a case study of contradictions, and one could spend a career trying to peel back the layers there. So too are the intersections with New Orleans's rich musical cultures and traditions. The stories of the madams themselves were equally captivating. Josie Arlington's and Kate Townsend's lives were riveting, but so too were the countless other women who didn't achieve their considerable wealth and power. The price of admission isn't cheap, but it's well worth the investment. Plan to spend at least two hours here, and learn about an important part of New Orleans's history that's well worth seeing.

The museum dives into the infamy Storyville crafted for itself, with newspapers condemning the women, yet some of these people who protested against the practice had took part in their services. My emotions traveled from being humored at this development, to fully facing the truth that this was not all for fun and humor--for many women of Storyville, this was the other way they could keep a roof over their head. The tour details tragic incidents like violent deaths and immoral acts that took place to bring in more visitors. It's an unsightly part of New Orleans' history, but this attraction presents such things with tact and well-thought out design. I was lucky enough to have the whole museum to myself and my partner, so we spent much time really absorbing this history and discussing the bleak and disturbed reality of what was promoted as a lively form of business. I recommend others to stop by this place; it is definitely not for children or those sensitive to sexual content, violence, or abuse. If your comfortable exploring those topics, then Storyville Museum is a great attraction to visit. It was one of the most beloved spots that I found during my vacation, and I'd be happy to go again!
