How I love Liz let me count the ways!!! I was looking for an amazing baker for my daughters 4th birthday party. I wanted cupcakes and a cake but also something unique. I called many places who came up on Yelp first as well as went to Crave first to check them out. I was not impressed with either and kept searching and that's when I came across Zeapod cakery. I called them and was greeted by Liz and she was so nice as well as immediately assured me she could meet my needs. I saw a pic of the cupcake pops and I knew I had to have them. I asked her for a tasting and she let me know they meaning herself and her husband bake out of their home and they don't have tastings, but I could come by and grab a couple flavors of the cake pops for I believe $3.00 each. I headed straight to her house and met the lovely couple. They welcomed me into their home/bakery which you can smell sweet cakes being made with love before you even enter the establishment. She showed me a cake that they just finished and it was amazing. And then I tasted the cakes, Oh my goodness beyond moist, fresh, and real homemade taste not like most beautiful cakes that taste like crap. I placed my order for 2 dozen cake pops in Vanilla/birthday cake and Strawberry. I also ordered a small cake to go with her Jungle book theme which the flavor was Salted caramel for the adults. What I appreciated she didn't charge me for the two pops that I came to taste since I placed my order that day, what service! We chatted for awhile, I paid and then I was on my way.. I ordered custom printed stickers to be put on my daughters cake pops and Liz let me drop them off to her and she added them to each one. I picked up my order right on time and was blown away by their craftsmanship. Their products start with being made and baked with pure love and then decorated with such artistry. The prices are beyond reasonable for the quality you get. I paid a little over $150.00 for everything and it was worth every penny. They said it would be no problem to do, and made this amazing cake based on an idea I found in Pinterest. Not only did it look incredible when it was finished, but both kinds of cake (I chose different flavors for the top and bottom) were absolutely delicious, some of the best cake I've tasted. The cupcakes we're also, apparently, delicious. I scheduled my order via Yelp on Sunday night (super convenient), and someone from Cake called me in Memphis on Monday morning to ask me if I wanted to include a note (and to ask how to navigate his oversized office building). After they arrived, the delivery person texted me a photo of my pal holding his cupcakes. The friend also reports that "M. from Accounting, whose office is on the other side of the building and has never once come to my office, stopped by my office to tell me it was the best cupcake she's ever eaten." Ok, I'm sold - 3rd time's the charm! Firstly, if you get one of these cupcakes during summer months, let it defrost first. This time, I bought it at the food truck park and ate it at home. It defrosted excellently (some cakes don't freeze well) and tasted MUCH better at room temp than trying to chomp into it while frozen. Let me say this, when the issue was brought to the table the company tried to make things right - their way. We got a couple apologetic calls from the staff and even the owner reached out; they even sent over a bottle of whiskey. However, I really just preferred my money back. From getting a text message the day before my event at 5:58p asking for me to clarify my date the cake was needed (and I replied back at 5:59p); only to find out the day of that at 6p they leave their cell phones at the bakery. If that's the case, why would you text me at 5:58p. The day before my event, I cried and lost sleep wondering if I would have a cake. On Friday morning, (day of) I finally got an apologetic call and text. I was then asked how could they make it right and at that time, I only wanted half the cost of my cake back. I was told they couldn't do that for me. Fine. Even though I was still upset - I was letting it go. However, when I got the picture of my cake I was almost brought to tears with how it looked. It was not what I requested. Similar but if they knew they couldn't make an identical cake to what I sent them - I should've been told that upon paying my deposit. Now, I was told my cake would not be as tall and I was fine with it that. My cake looked rushed, the "gold flakes" were yellow and my marble design was not neat and detailed as the inspiration pic I sent over. (I choose to give the bottom tier of my cake away to the restaurant staff and we are keeping the top tier for March 2020). read more
