Cal demoed our fireplace, reframed, drywalled, textured, painted and installed flooring where the brick was previously. Cal is the man... no really... he's the man that can do it all. Reasonably priced, great service, prompt and open communication, and just overall a nice person. I never had an issue from start to finish with Cal. We had a huge leak in our townhouse on the 2nd floor (kitchen level) that ended up leaking into the garage. We asked Cal to help us restore the garage back to its original condition, which included replacing the ceiling drywall, texturizing, painting the entire ceiling, and reinstalling the garage racks. Cal handled it all. He started when he said he would and ended around when he predicted he would. At the end of our project Cal said "Let me know if you ever need anything else." I decided I wanted to remodel at least 1 of my bathrooms in 2025, and received quotes from 3 different companies. Of the 3 companies I met with, Cal Jackson had the best price, was honest and direct when I asked detailed questions, and showed me pictures of ongoing and recently completed projects to confirm his work would be the quality I expected. I told him that if the first bathroom went smoothly, we would immediately transition to the second bathroom upon completion of the first. We did that exact thing. Cal did my drywall. I said I was flexible because he had another job in my area. Cal rescheduled one day, no show and no call another day and cancelled when he was supposed to be at my house the third time because he got a big job that he estimated before coming to my place and had to get supplies. He did say that I could call later in the coming weeks to see if he was available, but the rate would now be higher. read more

I would not recommend this contractor. He talks well and wins your trust. On the first day he showed up himself, but after that he sent only his helper while he stayed away. I hired him, not the helper, and had to insist that he return to finish the final coat of paint. He also switched the paint I chose to a cheaper grade without telling me. and later tried to charge extra for work he had already promised to take care. What was supposed to be a 5‑to‑6‑day job dragged on for two months and is still not fully complete. I will never hire him for any project again. read more

When I met Cal, I stipulated, he needs to complete the job in 5 business days and he needs to start the minute tenant moves out. He agreed he can do it. At 10pm, I received text from Cal regarding his crew starting the work. We hired Cal to put complete a wet bar and barn door for us. I chose him because of all the good reviews I read. They cannot possibly be customers of his- totally bogus like night and day. Cal never showed up to complete the job therefore work we paid him for was incomplete. He and his contractors don't follow instruction for installation . They only look at what you have and put it where they think it goes ( such as cabinets). Cal wanted to charge us more to complete the job that theydidwrong. He will give you a time he would be there and would either not show-up or be 5hrs late without giving notice. Text is a hit or miss. Not reliable at all! ! we had to hire a new contractor to complete the job. We learned our lesson the hard way. Choose wisely! read more

I hired Cal from a friend's referral to paint an investment unit in Palm Springs. Cal showed up with another helper to paint the approximately 850 ft one-bedroom unit. After setting things up and cutting, Cal departed for Orange County and left the other painter to finish the job. That night the painter called me to say that he was finished. Upon evaluating the job, barely half the unit was painted and what was painted was extremely sloppy. When communicating my dissatisfaction with his job, the helper got very mouthy and belligerent and tried to be threatening towards me. I don't know what his deal was, but needless to say it was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. He came back the next day and attempted to finish the job, but it still looked like a 12 year old did the work. Cal had to come back out to finish the job. When Cal was done he was paid in full at the agreed upon price. When leaving the property, I asked that he lock up and mail me the key. When the originally showed up, I explained that there were two keys, one for the handset and one for the deadbolt. I gave him the deadbolt key and told him I was leaving the handset in the unit, therefore only lock the deadbolt. Even his other painter got that right and only locked the deadbolt. I thought that would be pretty self explanatory. I guess it wasn't, as Cal locked both locks with the handset lock left inside the unit. Upon meeting another contractor at the unit, I discovered I was locked out. Cal refused to take responsibility for this oversight and has not been in contact since. I had asked him to mail the key to my Realtor, but he has not responded to my text messages requesting the status on the mailed key. He has blocked the number of my friend making the recommendation to him when we were simply trying to get an update on the mailed key to avoid hiring a locksmith. Basically, after getting paid he shined all of us simply not caring what happened afterwards. I had to hire a locksmith to meet my Realtor for her showing. My recommendation would be to avoid this contractor. Hire someone who is responsible and cares about their reputation. read more
