Made appointment for 10:30 on 10/9, they showed up at 09:45 on 10/10 (appointment confirmation attached). Seemed irritated my wife would not answer the door at that point. Unlike many other companies that provide home repairs, South County Drywall answers their phones during business hours. The estimate for the work was provided by Ron who arrived right on time and took the time to give us options as to the type of drywall finish we could choose. 2023 is going out with a bang for me all because of Jeff and his crew from South County Drywall who just finished my dry wall timely and perfectly. I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen having cabinets removed and dry wall demolished to open up the area. I was looking for a reliable company who would do a good job in repairing the damage. On top of it, some dry walls in the other rooms are cracked because of the settling issues. Previous owners tried but did a terrible repair job himself. The walls were miserable looking. When I started looking around for a dry wall company, I was really nervous as I wasn't sure what kind of dry wall work would I ended up getting. When I called South County Drywall, Jessica was just so sweet , answered my questions and accommodated my schedule to have Jeff meet with me at my convenience. Jeff showed up on time at our appointment. Turned out that Jeff and his crew don't make you wait; they are always on time which I so appreciate. When Jeff came, surveyed the rooms and evaluated their condition, he didn't make a big deal of what bad shape the house looked. He told me that he has been in the business for 40 years and he can fix any of my drywall repair problems in the house. When he is done, the walls would look like NEW! You have no idea how his word brought peace and calmness to my heart. Also, the estimate I got from Jeff was unbeatable not to mention the quality and the dependability that I received in the end. I want to add that Jeff went out of his way to have a block of cement in the storage room plastered to make it look "pretty" and to blend in with the room at NO extra cost to me. Jeff's kindness and attention to details means so much to me. One thing I so appreciate Jeff is his empathy for his customers. He understands the reason of my nervousness as too many businesses do not live up to their promises. But Jeff assures me that there's only one way his business does. This review is long overdue. I had been looking for months to find a company that could do drywall and electrical and South County was able to do both without having to go through two different contractors. I have an exposed beam ceiling with no insulation and the lighting and electrical completed by the previous owners was shoddy at best. I wrestled with keeping the beam ceilings in the living room but comfort and a touch of modern won out. I had Ron provide an estimate on insulating and covering the ceiling, while adding drywall. Signed a contract and scheduled the renovation later in the month. I can't begin to express how much better the living area looks and having the insulation has cooled the house immensely. Whenever I have visitors, the first words out of everyone's month is usually "Wow! What a difference from before. I am that person whose eyes tend to always wander towards and find even small defects an imperfections. One reason I typically do things myself instead of hiring others is it is hard to find people that share my penchant for detail and perfection. But there are times where the scale, effort, and/or skill needed to complete a project properly are beyond what a person is willing to do. For every good contractor found there is an equally good chance of finding a mediocre or bad contractor heavy on cost and light on craftsmanship and quality. I recently made one of those unknown contractor gambles and hired South County Drywall to retexture an entire knockdown ceiling in my home after a water leak repair. Needless to say, I can report this gamble paid a large dividend! They did an absolutely beautiful job concealing the repair at a cost that I considered to be an absolute bargain for the effort they actually expended. They even skinned the ceiling first to make sure it was uniformly smooth before re-texturing. As I indicated earlier, I like perfection. I can truly say that their work even met my difficult and exacting standards...and that is no easy feat to achieve. On Yelp the best you score you can give is five stars, but I would give them ten stars if I could. If you are facing some drywall work and don't know what firm to take your own chance, I will save you some time and grief. Go with these people! First we had our ceilings scraped, a revamp of our lighting in our master bathroom vanity area, kitchen lighting remodel, and wiring for ceiling fan in our second bedroom. They did such a beautiful job that we had them come back to wire for a second fan in master bedroom with LED lighting, LED lighting in our living room and replace all our light switches throughout. Having them come back a third time to add a ceiling fan in our living room area and replace all our outlets throughout and painting of our master bedroom and bathroom. We had air conditioning installed and they had to cut a hole in a ceiling for access to run the lines outside to the unit. We called some handymen ads to get it repaired and asked if they would be able to match the texture of the ceiling and make it blend in so the repair would not show. One said he would call us back and never did. Another one said no one would be able to do that. We called South County Drywall and their quote was a little more than the others but they did an excellent job and were able to match the texture and blended it seamlessly with the rest of the ceiling. So this review has been pending due to our special project and we wanted to make sure we covered most of the people we worked with before we submitted it. First, when we reached out to South County Drywall we reached Tammy and she was a great pleasure to deal with. She was able to coordinate our aggressive timeline from the start and then stuck with us throughout the entire process (what a process it was lol). We don't know if we would have the same patience as her dealing with our daily updates and needs. She was also able to work within our budget concerns. Tammy, if you read this, we thank you for everything! :) Next, we met Ron! Ron walked us through the entire process, explained what needed to be done, and how much it would cost. He was kind enough to reach out to people even while they were off to help us get everything we needed. When our soffit was removed our electrical was not long enough to reach the new required locations. Nick came in and was not only able to take our mess and get it to code but he also made it look pretty. He was helpful even when things were beyond scope. Really wish I read the reviews before hiring them. Writing this to hopefully save you from the same mistake (and a lot of money). We hired them to install recessed LED lighting in our house in April of 2015. Originally we were only going to do one room, but the electrician they sent convinced us we should change EVERY light in our house to the recessed LED because according to him "the lights last 15-30 years and you never have to replace them!" Based on his recommendation we went forward with changing all of the lightbulbs and the total job cost us about $2000. (Again, we originally planned on one room). Fast forward to 2018 and not one, but FOUR lights are completely out. I called South County to explain the situation and was told "they only have a year warranty" and since it was passed the year warranty, they were going to charge me $350 to send an electrician out JUST to look at the lights (service fee alone), and any work he did would be an extra charge. Initially that didn't feel right but nevertheless, I asked if he could repair some drywall while he was there and she said no, that would be a separate visit by someone else for an additional $350. (Even though in 2015 the same guy did both the electrician work and drywall...) so $700 for someone to look at the lights and a separate person to patch some holes........ I'm in awe that South County would charge me $350 just to have someone look at the lights...when they are the ones who sold me on getting these lights (due to the fact the lights last 15-30 years), and they are the ones who installed them. Luckily I called another electrician who came out for $90, looked at the lights and asked if "we did them ourselves" because the lights they used are from COSTCO (aka CHEAP AS HELL). I told him no, we hired someone else but they wanted to charge an arm and a leg just to come out and look at the lights and he said "Hm, that's not right... I'd replace all of these for free for you if I installed them." I just shrugged and said, "Well yeah, that's good business." Clearly, I'm not the only one frustrated with the way they do business here if you read the other reviews. Truly, I am not upset that the four lights went out because things happen and clearly that's a manufacturer error... but the fact that this company can't own up to their mistake and make things right leaves a really sour taste in my mouth and I'm really regretting giving them my business three years ago. Please, hire an electrician for your lighting work and read ALL the reviews on Yelp. You'll find some with 5 star reviews only and THAT'S who you should hire because they are honest, not this place. read more

Decided to gut & remodel our garage this spring. Self-performed the demo ourselves, wanted to outsource for new drywall, painting, and minor electrical work. Called 12 contractors for quotes, but was only able to get electrical and painting work bids, struggled to get drywall contractor bids with various reasons from "too small" to "too big" of a project as an excuse. Called South County Drywall (SCD), they came out fast and were able to provide a complete bid which encompassed everything we needed: electrical, drywall, and painting all with one contractor. SCD mobilized to start work within a week after we called and completed all work in 5 days. Work quality was very professional and crews were courteous and conscientious. Paid attention to detail and kept the site clean. Also, there was no pre-payment or up-front cost; all work was paid for after 100% complete. The only issue we had was one of the overhead lighting fixtures collapsed a couple weeks later (due to faulty installation - they put screws directly into overhead drywall without proper anchors). This only happened with one of the three fixtures, the others were fine, but they did get sloppy on this one issue, so like some other reviewers, I question if I would use them again for electrical. They came out & fixed it within 2 days, so all is well, but this is why they only received 3 stars. South County Drywall was not the overall lowest-priced contractor, BUT they were the most professional, insured, bonded, and prompt. I would recommend them and are worth the (relatively minor) added cost if you want one contractor to hold responsible. read more

First post on Yelp! After reading the reviews I called for an estimate and Jeff showed the next day. I originally wanted drywall repairs in my hallway. Jeff and I discussed recessed lighting in my living room. I wanted 3 directional and 4 can lights. I also talked with Jeff about my TV install. I got a quote for all 3 jobs and the rest is history. They advertised a kitchen lighting special to remove existing lighting and replace with LED lights. We needed that plus some additional work to form the tray for the new lighting. Jeff came out to look it over and issue a quote. Took him just a few minutes to determine what needed to be done. We called the next business day to schedule the work. The job took two 8 hour days, one day apart, just like the quote stated it would. The entire process was painless, neat and well done with no surprises. This is just further proof of the incompetence of this company. In my opinion any competent contractor would have checked their license status the day their license was supposed to renew. Furthermore the owner makes no attempt to dispute my other accusations of shoddy work and fraudulently using an inferior brand of paint. Finding a professional to remove popcorn, float and paint a ceiling is quite a task. Look no further for the best of the best. Upon our call, Jeff was out in two days and walked the project with us. He was informative, caring, and comforting. We were dreading taking the popcorn off the ceiling as we were sure it was going to be a terrible mess. We had fans, small closets, beds and dressers to move and a two-story house. Not a problem, it was all about the prep. The crew was amazing. Everything was covered with plastic and tapped tight. In they came, off came the popcorn; the ceiling was floated and painted in one day. When it was finished, you could not tell they were even in the house. Remarkable. I called Tammy, the office manager, to thank her for the great job and asked, in passing, if they did crown molding? Absolutely was her answer. After we determined a fair price, we went ahead with that project. She explained it was a two day, two crew job. On the first day the carpenters came in, re-measured everything and were able to find the exact molding we had used in our downstairs rooms. They were even able to use a left over 8-footer we had stored in our garage. Again, out came the plastic and ladders and up went the molding. What great workmanship. Corners were perfect, vents were boxed just right and the bathrooms were done well. When finished, not a clue they were there. Second day, painters. When they came in they said they were going to set up to spray paint the molding my wife and I panicked. We had just put in carpeting and what if they got paint all over it. Luis, the painter said please don't worry, we do this all the time. Out came the plastic and tape and 4 hours of prep later, the painting started. Not a spot anywhere and a perfect job. The most unprofessional a-hole company I've ever dealt with. Jeff, the owner, hates women, from what I can tell. He'll bang on your door almost breaking it down to greet you. He's the most impatient awful person I've ever met. He yelled at me and acted like a complete psychopath. Even his workers were mortified and told me they were sorry. Do not hire this company. AWFUL! Stay away! After seeing his bs reply below it reminds me. As he was leaving he screamed (not exaggerating) while still on my porch "What a B I T CH!!!!" that even my neighbor heard. Wow. I called the day before, around 3:30pm, to confirm my appointment because I didn't hear from anyone. I left a message on the answering service but never heard back. The next day I received a call at 7:50am (appointment time 8am) informing me that they weren't able to make it. She was very apologetic and assured me that the crew would be out the next day, even if they had to rearrange their schedule. They arrived as promised, worked all day to remove the ceiling and apply texture, locked my door and left. I stopped in after work to take a look: - The ceilings were nicely done, both with respect to the scraping and the texture coat - Interior floors were left clean - The light fixtures were left dangling and the ceiling tracks for the wardrobe doors were removed in the bedrooms. - Outside was left a little messy with ceiling material scattered about and white footprints leading down the sidewalk to the parking area. I called and left a message on the answering service asking about the closet doors and lights - they took them down, were they going to put them back up? Ashley called back but couldn't answer my questions so she referred me to Tammy. I received a call from Tammy a few days later. She offered to send someone back to put the doors back up and mount the lights but I declined. Overall, I think they could have left the exterior a little cleaner and it would have been nice to know ahead of time that I would be responsible putting things up that they took down. read more
