Why aren't more people going here? We went on a Sunday, it is about an hour drive for us. We liked that the skate session is all afternoon, just $15. We went after brunch and skated all day until almost closing time. The floor here is great. Very smooth, flat. They don't have lockers or cubbies, but there is a bench that goes all the way on one side, and plenty of picnic tables, so adequate space to stash your things and sit to put on skates or take a break. Like most roller rinks, they have a snack bar, a few arcade games like the claw to get a prize or air hockey, and rooms for birthday parties. I was happy that the water fountain also has a bottle filling part - we brought refillable water bottles. Note that no other food or drink is allowed in. The music was very modern, with only a couple older songs. Sometime there was a music video on the big screen. I would have appreciated more 70s/80s hits with stronger beats, but the young folks will like that there are current artists. They did play a few games while we were there, like Simon Says, and speed skate contest. Most of the people there were attending birthday parties. I'm surprised more families aren't having a skate day. And the parents who brought their kids just stood there or sat instead of skating -- C'mon grown-ups! The good news was that meant plenty of room to skate. They have those skate assist devices for kids who can't skate yet. I hate those things. The kids with them go out into the middle and create a hazard. A couple of kids could skate ok but used them so they could go fast. One kid kept zig-zagging across the floor in all directions except the right one. I miss the old days when learners clutched the edge. That said, I'm sure it helps the kids who can't skate and got invited to a party and want to try. Definitely coming back here, it's a find! read more

We were on the hunt for a roller rink that had the genuine hardwood floors (not the weird hard rubber tiles) and good music. We drove up from Mountain View and stayed overnight so we could take the adult skills class on a Tuesday and skate afterwards during adult open skate. This rink is great - really well maintained, the instructor for the skills class (Isabella) was so friendly and nice and helpful, and the skating itself was super fun, the crowd was very diverse. The music was modern hip hop and the dj had very good taste, although we would love to come back for an old school funk/70s night if possible. Very worth the 2 hr drive for us (we stayed overnight at a nearby hotel) and we would do it again! read more

Great place to have kids bdays. Simple and price is reasonable. Only thing i have bad to say is that the staff is not the most helpful. They're young mostly so i get it. I think they could use a little customer service training though. I was hitting their boxing game and foolishly forgot i was wearing a custom ring. I felt the stone come out while playing but at the time thought it was a piece of candy thrown by a kid lol. When i got home i realized my stine was missing and immediately realized that it was dislodged when i hit the bag. They were closed so i called the next day and the staff tht answered (younger sounding girl) looked in lost and found but when i asked to look by the boxing machine she basically denied me and said oh we have a cleaning crew so it's probably not there... i asked again but she didn't seem to get what i was explaining so we hung up. Hope someone found it and it didn't end up in a vacuum. It's a nice faceted Ethiopian fire opal and valued at almost $3k. Solid come up for anyone who knows what it is and finds it. As for the space itself, everything you would expect from a nostalgic era roller skating rink. Plus they have games for kids and decent pizza. Not too costly for what it is i guess. read more

This rink smelled and looked like my childhood! What a great atmosphere filled with neon lights and fantastic music to skate to! The rink floor was recently resurfaced and smoooooth! I love this place. Roller skating was an activity I loved as a child but forgot about as an adult. My boyfriend pushed me to take the beginners roller skating class with him and I fell in love with it all over again. Jeanie (the instructor) is superb, she's patient, observant, and really sweet all around. I've been to 5 lessons and will continue to keep coming, it's for all ages and I mean a wide arrange of ages so don't hesitate because you think you're "too young or old". I highly recommend taking the beginners class if you want to do more roller skating, but aren't too confident you won't fall haha! I picked up skating as my quarantine hobby, and I can't tell you how much it's changed my life recently. With skating I've found a new hobby to completely obsess over, I've found new friends who also love this hobby, I've found a way to destress, and I've found a new community. Jeannie, the owner at Cal Skate is also completely responsible for teaching me everything I know and helping me to advance my hobby. She opened up her rink and outdoor parking lot for socially distanced lessons. She also started small cohort skate groups based on individual interests. From her and the other two instructors, I have advanced in skating and become more confident. It's also pushed me to keep pushing myself. Everyone is required to wear masks the entire time, temperatures are checked, and there is a ton of room so we can spread out away from each other whether the classes are inside or out. During this time, recreation like this is hurting the most, like our other small businesses, please make sure to support stuff like this when we come out of the shelter in place and things open up again. I went here to try roller skating for the first time on my 33rd birthday. I had a blast! The roller rink is very dated, but in a fun and nolstagic way. It reminds me of going to the rink when I was a kid in the 90s. They had a lot of different foods and drinks available, as well as lockers to rent. The old school lockers are no longer available, so you will need to use a card to rent a locker now. There is a step in the building to get from the area where you rent the skates to where you actually skate. There was a lot of time for free skate, but there were a few instances of games you could play. Or was four corners, and one was a race, I think. If you're a beginner, be really careful because there are kids everywhere not following rink etiquette, but I think this happens at a lot of rinks. You can rent a walker type thing to help you balance while skating if you need it. Overall, I had a great time and my partner bought me my first pair of roller skates because I loved it so much! My partner did not have such a great time, in the other hand, as he ended up breaking his tail bone right before the rink closed. Stay safe and wear butt pads, y'all! lol read more

I am a 40 y.o. beginner and I have been to the rink 3 times in the last week. It is unfortunate that I have to drive 40mins away, but it's worth it when I put on my skates. I would recommend that if you are a beginner adult to wait for the 18+ sessions...haven't been yet but I am sure there is a huge difference ( the little ones like to go in every direction and practice falling and are not really paying attention to what's going on around them...can't blame them though :-) ) The only plus with learning around little ones is being aware of them and switching directions and speeds. Will continue to go until I win the lottery and open my own rink in my home town. I can't wait until I am no longer a beginner. read more

I went to Calskate in Rohnert Park on 2/23/2024 and when I went into the women's bathroom, I realized you can completely see under the bathroom stalls! If you were to glance under to check if someone's legs were there to see if the stall was occupied you would be able to see their entire private parts! I talked to an employee and they said the owner has been aware of this for 10 years, but has not done anything about it. It feels so violating and inappropriate for a business, especially one where many children come!! Please look at these photos everyone and see how high the bottom of the bathroom stalls are!! In the photos I had my friend take a photo of me to show exactly how short the stalls are and how revealing they are (I am clothed!!) , these photos are not distorted or taken at an angle to make the stalls look more short than they are. For the longest time, I thought of roller rinks as a retro thing, but I'm in my late 40s and decided to pick up roller skating again. The owner is super nice and they have adult skating sessions and adult skating classes. Everyone I've met has been nice and supportive. After two sessions, I bought a pair of skates from the pro shop and I'm pumped to go back. The price for each admission does add up, but the rink has been hit hard by covid-19 and you have to cut them some slack. I'm very happy to support this small family business. This place is way over due for upgrades! The staff could use some better training in customer service and they need MORE people working on the weekends. I want to share specifically about food service and a young woman who was working the food counter by herself. I'd ordered two slices of pizza, one cheese, and one pepperoni as well as a corn dog. I asked how long it would be, she told me about twelve minutes; my Grandson went to get the food, and the corn dog was not ready, but he brought the pizza slices to our table. The pizza was cold, I'd put my fingers on my slice, he took a bite out of his. I took it back to the counter, and let her know they were cold, she offered to heat them up, and I agreed to that. The young woman was ALONE, no other employees were helping her; she sat our two slices the side, grabbed a pizza pan from the warmer and was going to put them on it and stick them in the oven. A DIFFERENT woman walked in (in a blue shirt, so I'm thinking she was a manager) and pulled a pizza pan and pizza from the warmer and started berating the young employee in front of customers; then the woman grabbed our pizza slices and put them ON THE SAME PIZZA PAN AS THE PIZZA THAT WAS FOR SALE which had been IN the warmer!!! I said "excuse me, those are our slices, you just contaminated the other pizza because my Grandson took a bite from his, and I put my fingers on mine because it was cold" she just looked at me, then continued berating this employee about the cardboard under the pizza that was in the warmer; and she turned to put it back in the warmer, WITH our slices STILL on the pan. I explained again, then she walked over to the young woman who stood there, seemingly in shock and told her to throw ours away, took it OFF the pan and put it on paper plates, this woman whom I believe to be a manager then proceeded to PUT the contaminated pizza BACK in the warmer. This entire time other customers are waiting to be served, and were being ignored as this woman continued to not listen to what I was calmly telling her. Finally, I said "excuse me, but you have cross contaminated that food, and I don't want our pizza thrown out, I want the young woman to heat it up as I asked ten minutes ago, you have stopped her from doing her job" the woman said "I'll heat it all up, give you a refund and you can have all four slices" I said "No, I don't want a refund, I want our food, please" so, she proceeded to put ALL the pizza in the oven; then I asked about the corn dog and was told it would be done soon. Wheeewee. They took two orders from others, which included pizza - wait - you won't believe this. A young man walked back there, and asks if I've been helped, I tell him yes, but that if that's our corn dog over there on the counter I'd like it so my Granddaughter could eat, he gave it to me, and I took it to the table, came back and I'll be darned if the woman in blue wasn't getting ready to throw out the slice of pepperoni, I said "wait that's my Grandson's pizza" she said "well someone here took a bite out of it, I can't sell it to you" PALM to face, no joke, I told her again what was going on, so she plates his slice, grabs another slice of cheese and gives them to me, and puts the other two slices in the warmer - I asked her how she could tell which one I put my fingers in, and she looked dumbfounded. She asked me what I wanted her to do, I told her NOT to sell those slices of pizza because she can't tell if my fingers where on any of them, and neither could I because she put them all on the same pizza pan. She asked what I wanted her to do again - and I told her to throw them away, as it was contaminated food now. It's mind boggling that this place serves food, and I have to wonder if ANYONE has a food handling card; the only person with their hair pulled back was the young woman who originally helped us. This woman; the one in blue came out and started speaking poorly about the other employee, the young teenager; who was busting her butt working by herself for at least two hours while we were there, I asked her to please stop talking to me; and reminded her that had she minded her own business it wouldn't have taken forty five minutes for us to get our lunch. I hope management does some better training, no, I hope the owner steps up and does better training of management and staff. They don't cover their hair, they don't use gloves and frankly, they should probably stop selling ANY FOOD other than bags of chips and cans of soda or water. As for the skating, well, there weren't any monitors out there, the DJ never played the birthday song for my niece and the party attendant didn't do anything except ask for money. * Review edited at the request of someone stating they're the young woman's Mom, to remove minors name. read more
