My elementary-aged son and I needed something for a mother-son outing, and saw something on a video about escape rooms. We were immediately super excited to try it. I booked without asking how much, and it surprised me how expensive it was, but in the end, I would 100% do it again, and they booked me for that day. Our host was Finn, and we liked him immediately. Apparently he looks like one of my son's favorite you tubers so my son was immediately pleased, ha ha. Finn was so patient as we tried the starter puzzle (for true newbies like us), and he was even more patient when we were failing hard-core in the room. We needed Gingy's (his) help a lot to get through it. His clues were perfect fits for us, and it allowed the experience to be crazy challenging (we sucked, but it was so fun, and the teamwork and memories were priceless) while also allowing us to progress - eventually- to the end. We did not escape the room in time, but Finn allowed us to see it through the end. Finishing made us SO happy! I don't think we ever had a better mother-son day together, and even though it costs me an entire day's pay for the two of us, we will be doing this again. I liked it so much I even invited my ex-husband to join us, because he is great at that sort of thinking... And we haven't done a thing together since we officially ended our 20 yr relationship in 2025, so if that doesn't mean I'm desperate to do more of this, and get better so we can try their medium level room, I don't know what would. Easy to find this place & plenty of parking. Customer service was top notch! Laura was very welcoming and had our group do some puzzles while we were waiting for our last team member. Our group did the easiest room which was the Gingerbread Cottage. If you've done plenty of escape rooms, do the harder ones. We would have escaped at an earlier time, but our lock was stuck! We knew the answer, but the lock wouldn't budge. We remembered the rule that if you can't move it with a pinky, then don't force it. We had such a fun time here with our friends! Since it was our first time ever doing an escape room, we chose "The Babysitter". The story was great, and the puzzles were not that easy. It definitely made us think more than we expected, but from start to finish, the experience was fantastic. Our group usually likes to do all the room a place has to offer because we usually drive 1-2 hours out to places and rather just knock it all out in one day. Reed Between the Lines has 3 rooms: -Reed's Gingerbread Cottage -The Babysitter -The Pirate's Treasure Easier to easiest in that order. The interesting thing is Pirate's treasure has level of difficulty you can choose before starting the room. Their website has % of escapes for each difficulty. From start to finish, it was a great experience. My friend, Asha, was the one that called Laura to ask about a plan to do all 3 rooms. I heard Laura was super helpful and detailed with all the information. It was also a great price for all 3 rooms for a group of 4 (about $87 per person for all 3 rooms with the discount). Asha raved about Laura's customer service so make sure to ask for her! I believe they accommodated us by allowing us to start at 11:30am but Yelp said they open at 4?-10:30pm on weekdays so we really appreciated that. We were able to go at our own pace, take breaks between rooms if needed so it was great not being rushed. When we arrived, we were greeted by Chase. He informed us he would be our game master for all 3 rooms and allowed us to use the restroom before starting. Chase was AWESOME. He was very friendly, enjoyed what he did, and actually cared about our experience. He even allowed us to do the warm up puzzles at the front of the desk right after we did our first room instead of rushing us into the second. It also allowed us to chat with him and get to know him more. Our group likes to give back so we always try to bring back boba for our game masters as long as they're cool and make our experience better. We took a short break after the first 2 rooms to just refuel knowing we were going into their hardest room. We brought back boba and a bahn mi sandwich for him which he was really appreciative of so that was a great feeling and served as a thank you for putting up with our shenanigans Now reviews on the rooms... I'll try to keep it short since I'm mostly raving about the staff here. (I'm sure the others are cool too but really satisfied Chase was our game master). If you're crazy like us and want to do all 3 same day.. I recommend Gingerbread as a warm up room as this one was very straight forward me. Hint system in this room is cute and a playful room. Babysitter had more "fun" puzzles and I liked the setting more than Gingerbread. It also wasn't too difficult so it's definitely a better game for families with younger kids. You can definitely spend a good time just playing around at one part of the room and forget about the puzzles. There were times 2 of us was just fooling around because we got side tracked. Pirate's Treasure...oh boy. I can see why the escape rate for this room is as low as it is and its insane groups actually finish around 40-45 minute mark at the 5/5 difficulty. Chase had recommended the 4.5/5 for us and we can do the hard puzzle at the end if we would like so we opted for that. Thankfully, there was no group other than us for the day so Chase was able to let us finish out the room and we took an extra 30 mins to do without even attempting the 5/5 puzzles. I think it was a mixture of it being hot in the room to our brains being tired after some time, and of course the tough puzzles that made it especially challenging. We were stumped on a lot of puzzles but thankfully there's unlimited hints and hints are encouraged for this room. This was definitely my favorite room out of the 3 because the challenge was nice. Overall, I would say Reed Between the Lines is a good spot for introduction to escape rooms and have a nice mixture of easy to difficulty rooms. I do like rooms with multi rooms (babysitter and gingerbread has 2 rooms, the pirate one was just 1 room) but the puzzles in Pirate was a lot more challenging which I liked. All the puzzles worked as well so that's always a plus. The only thing Reed Between the Lines missing and this is only my opinion... are "WOW" factors that made you go "Woah that was really, really cool" effect wise. For example, we did a room where we put something in a cauldron and closed the lid and then smoke came out. Something like that to catch us off guard but overall, a really great, solid experience. I rented the "portable escape room" from this business as an activity at my birthday dinner. The portable escape room is a giant chest that you pick up from the escape room (or have delivered for an extra $50). I'd recommend they add the weight of the item to their website, as it's very heavy and may need two people to move. It's suitable for 2 to 8 players and costs $225. This seems expensive, but when you think about the number of people you can accommodate and the potential number of hours of entertainment it provides, it seems more reasonable. It is wizard and witch themed and does come with fun hats to wear. It involves a number of puzzles that took our group of three about two hours to complete. I would say we are escape room amateurs, and we did have to use some hints. I liked that we could go at our own pace with this instead of being time-limited like a typical escape room. It was a very enjoyable experience and there were unique elements to the puzzles. It was surprising how much could be contained in this one box! The other thing that stood out was the level of customer service that this business provides. From the phone call shortly after my booking inquiry, to the pick up and drop off experience, the whole staff was very pleasant to interact with. I wish them much success! read more

This was a really fun experience, but also really hard! We did the Pirate level, although the hard level warning was there it seemed the most intriguing story line to us, so we went for it. There were 4 adults, and we still did not win! This was also all of our first experiences with an escape room though, so next time we'll know more of what to expect I suppose. This is our second time here and the visit was as nice as the first time. The price is reasonable and you get the whole room to yourself. The first time we came (my husband, 15 year old daughter, and I). We did the babysitter room and were zipping through it. We've done a good amount of exams rooms. We were surprised and pleased to hear that when the owner saw us getting through it quickly she added in a few more puzzles to keep us challenged. I thought it was really cool that she could adapt the difficulty level so easily. Today we went back and did the pirate room which you can choose to be an 8, 9 or 10 as a level. My daughter wanted the challenge so we opted for 10. This room was set up in a fun way, including sand on the floor. If you want a challenge, this is the room for you. So many locks and puzzles to figure out. The staff was super friendly and helpful! We did not escape in time, however because I'm assuming there was no one after us, they let us stay a bit longer and complete the puzzles which we all thought was very cool. The veteran had done the same room about 6 months ago, but wasn't involved in solving some of the problems back then. Even so, it took us the full hour. Reed Between the lines was very easy to work with. I was able to set everything up online. The facility is clean and the staff friendly. The escape room experience was fun and engaging. Ours was a work event geared specifically for team building. I would highly recommend as it required good communication skills by all. The room gets a little chaotic as everyone jumps on the puzzle closest to them followed by a lot of conversation. It definitely requires the group to slow down and listen to each other. Took my wife and her best friends here for her Happy Half-Birthday, and they all loved it. Some folks had mobility issues, but the Cookie room was easy to navigate. Reed Between the Lines is awesome! We played the Babysitter as well as the Gingerbread Cottage Room. The rooms were not too difficult, but still very challenging and were a great entry into the escape room world. Our Game Master was amazing and upbeat. She started us off with some pre-game puzzles prior to the escapes. The front lobby is filled with interesting goodies to admire and even has puzzles and games for purchase. We also had Reed BTL come to our office for a team-building escape in our conference room. It was awesome to have them come to us! Super great for business teams and friends/family alike. I've done dozens of escape rooms, but I came here with two friends who have little to no experience, so we did "The Babysitter" (rated 5/10 difficulty). 1. The team was incredibly friendly. We made a mistake and ended up taking an Uber to Napa instead of Santa Rosa (darn you hotel chains) so there was going to be a chance we'd be late. They were very friendly, said it was okay if we were 10-15 late. We thankfully ended up less than 5 minutes late (although in escape rooms where the expectation is arrive 15 early, we were 20 late). 2. They had a suuuuper nice bathroom, especially for a small escape room. Two separate rooms, all genders, and not that this is everyone's most important thing, but they didn't use single ply toilet paper! It was lovely and soft and wonderful :D 3. This was during COVID but open restrictions. We were required to wear masks in the halls and the lobby, but once inside the room with just us, we were allowed to take off the masks. (We also took them off to take the ending picture.) You could also tell they sanitized all the equipment-- something in the room even was still wet with sanitizer, which was a little gross but also made it feel safe. 4. The game itself was quite whimsical and fun. There was a number of things to find and look at almost immediately. When an escape room is simpler, I really appreciate having more fun locks, like directional or alphabetical locks. It's not a huge deal, but it's a lot more exciting than just having key/lock or 4-digit number scrolling locks. They had quite the variety of them! 5. There was a little of every kind of puzzle, and each of us was able to contribute. I think the room was for 6 people, but we had 3 and it was a blast. I'm not sure if there would be enough stuff to do if there were actually 6 people, because the room wasn't that large, but it was perfect for us. 6. I appreciate that they mention they have the industry standard three hints, but that they recommend just using more if you're stuck. I agree wholeheartedly that it's just more fun to be able to do it than have to sit there frustrated. We did end up using one hint, and then had trouble with a lock but the gamemaster was listening and was able to confirm we had the right code, just was entering it poorly. If you're in Rohnert Park or the area in general, you should definitely visit this escape room! It's not as high tech as, say, Palace of Fine Arts Games, but it was very fun and had great elements. They also have a lot of parking, so you can definitely drive there and park. read more

I played my very first escape room at Reed Between the Lines, four years ago, and since then I've played about 30 while on my various travels. Last night, I returned to where it all started to play the last currently available room at this location, Gingerbread Cottage. We took our friend and her children, so our group had a nice mix of experience and youth. Everyone was fully engaged and had a great time, and there are so many puzzles in this room that it's up to the players how to proceed. You could all work together on one thing at a time, or each person tackle something individually, or splinter into smaller groups. There is a real sense of satisfaction in barrelling through the earlier puzzles, which are accessible enough that our ten year old figured several things out for himself, but without being so easy that you feel like you're being spoon-fed. Best of all, this is not so much of an "escape room", as there is no ticking time bomb or no crazed killer out to get you. It's completely family friendly, and not at all scary. Laura the owner is a lovely lady who had previously been our game master for our Desert Island adventure at the same location, and she genuinely takes a special interest in making sure you and your group have a great time. We brought five 8 year olds for a birthday party and had an absolute blast. The staff were extremely helpful and worked with me to include a little birthday message to my son at the end. It was perfect. They gave us small helpful hints when we needed it to keep the kids interest and we were able to get to the end.
