Called on a Friday before a long holiday weekend looking for help in replacing / repairing a problem with a turn signal bulb. Amanda was very helpful asking questions to determine the problem and a possible solution. Because of upcoming holiday she said if I could get there before noon they could get the problem repaired. I came in for a second opinion on some work I needed done, (timing and a couple of gaskets) and wanted an estimate. There was no need to look at the vehicle; I had it written out from a different mechanic. There's 3 people behind 2 different counters, and after giving my information -- phone number etc., to the first guy, I was referred to the other one. So the 2nd guy tells me that they don't do timing stuff there. It's a big job, etc. I understand that. I understand that not everyone does everything. But if you knew that you don't do that sort of job, then why keep me waiting there taking my information and whatnot for 10-15 minutes?!!!! If the 1st guy didn't know that, he should. read more

Excellent service experience with this NAPA store. My truck wouldn't start, would not respond to jump start, just dead. Being from out of town, I wasn't familiar with this business. They just happened to be the closest to where I broke down. So, I rolled the dice. They were great-- figured out the mystery within a day. A simple plastic part had broken. Charged me normal labor and parts to repair it and I was on my way. Would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends. read more

Had my jeep repaired there one time. Had a problem with it after it was worked on and took back and the guy Joe at front desk was a SA. Veery arrogant and I told him and he just laughed like a kid. Not a very professional guy.I asked him to look over what they had done before to see if wire was loose but he said he would have to charge me just to see if they had made a mistake. Yes,i have out of state tags, but I was born and raised here. For him to treat a local like me in this manners can only imagine visitors from out of town.Didnt have a problem with Kelly or anyone else there. This guy gives the place a bad name. read more

It was time for maintenance for my SUV, the NAPA in OIB did not have any appointments available for two weeks. So I called Calabash NAPA Auto Care and made an appointment for one of my days off. Excellent customer service and excellent work. I went in for an oil chage, rotation and also has a problem a plastic piece by the wheel well, don't know what it is called. I got there a little early for my appointment, a young man checked me in then about 3 minutes later went outside and fixed the plastic thing where a screw and clip were loose. Then the oil change and tire rotation was done. No BS for this shop, didn't try to upsell me, they do check everything on the vehicle as well. Said for 54k miles that brake pads and tires looked new, (of course they did not know that I had brake pads change a year ago and tires replaced about 6 months ago). An unscrupulous shop would have tried to upsell me tires and brakes based on mileage, NOT HERE!!! For sure honest service. Also, the waiting area is very nice, free water bottles, free cookies and magazines to read. Even clean bathroom!! Highly, highly recommend this auto repair facility!! read more

I was sitting in the waiting room watching the weather channel which you could not hear. The governor came on and I stood by the tv to hear but still could not. There was one other person sitting there who asked me if I could hear so because I could not I went to the entrance of the shop. There were three people, one talking to a customer, one on the phone and one on the computer. The service man on the computer ignored me as I said excuse me. I repeated myself and the women having a conversation, whose attention I wasn't trying to get, turned around and rudely said " you will have to wait I am having a conversation!" I said I just want to turned up the volume to hear what the governor has to say about evacuations. Finally the serviceman who was ignoring me got up and berated me for interrupting them. I have never been treated so rudely at a place of business and will never return. read more

2 hours and $80 later, I was told that they couldn't fix my car. I came in because a spring in my trunk lid was detatched. I presented them with the spring and the metal widget that held it in place. 2 hours later, they told me my junction box was malfunctioning, it isn't manufactured anymore and maybe I should call a scrapyard. Actually, no, a spring in my trunk lid was detatched, EXACTLY LIKE I TOLD THEM. Before I signed the credit card receipt, I asked if at least the trunk was fixed. Their reply: "What?" read more

I live a mile or so from Calabash NAPA, and they have serviced several vehicles for me with no errors. Today, I took my Nissan Titan pickup in for an oil/filter change. I had my own K&N filter, and Mobil 1 EP 5W-30 oil. I drove straight home, picked up my hound dog, and headed to the dog park, and on the way, my truck started vibrating at low speed. When I got home, I checked the oil level...OMG... So I hooked up my 12V oil pump and pumped a full oil charge.. , 6 1/2 quarts, of black nasty oil out of my truck, JUST TO GET DOWN TO THE FULL MARK ON THE DIPSTICK! They didn't drain the old oil out, but just added the new. So everybody makes a mistake once in awhile...but DAMN. They need a check-off safety checklist for changing oil...especially on a Friday afternoon. Any bets on how much damage was done to my truck? seals? piston skirts? rolled bearings? Rings? TRUST BUT VERIFY!!!!!!! read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! I am visiting my grandmother (down from PA) and when my back right turn signal suddenly went out she immediately recommended that I call Napa the next morning when they opened as she has had many cars serviced there in the 20+ years she's lived here. Dutifully I called at 8 oclock am, and got a nice man named John on the phone. Fully expecting to be told there was no way he could check my car today I was shocked to learn that "at my convenience" anytime I could drive in and he'd look at it. WOW!! My skeptical yankee heart skipped a beat at that one!!! I showed up about 45 minutes later and sure enough, John came right out, assessed the car right in the parking lot, changed the offending bulb and charged me $2.11. 2 freaking dollars and 11 cents!! I know darn well back home I'd be waiting at least a day for an appt, and definitely paying more for the bulb plus "labor." I was in an out in 5 minutes, holy cow is that amazing service. Thank you so much to John and the fantastic service provided by Napa. Feels good to know that when I visit, this place is nearby. Even better to know that they are here to help my grandmother when she needs it. Thank you!!! read more

I will never forget how NAPA did me years ago. I was visiting my parents and my timing belt went out in my car. I paid over 700.00 for repairs fixing my timing belt and replaced my water pump. Afterwards, I drove my car and my car did not drive good. I went in and was told I damaged my engine and unfortunately sometimes that happens when the timing belt "goes".. I believed and trusted them when they quoted me 2000+ more dollars in repair needed. I drove my car 4 hours home where it did not want to go over 40 miles a hour and change gears. Once home I went to work and my patients dad took a look at my car and said my timing belt was set wrong and fixed it. My car ran smoothly afterwards. I called NAPA and explained to the owner that the timing belt was set wrong and I was very upset because I paid over 700 dollars for proper repair. The owner (Kelly) was not apologetic at all and did not offer any compensation, not even a discount for future services. I will never use this place again and I also have told many people through the years to avoid this place. read more

I needed to have a tire pressure sensor replaced. Nabers Jeep dealer wanted around $150.00 to R&R the sensor. I purchased a OEM sensor on Amazon for $20.00. I went to Calabash NAPA auto to have it installed. They would only do it by replacing the sensor with a NAPA part not using the OEM part and charging me $125.00. I drove to Walmart in North Myrtle Beach and they removed and installed the new sensor for $5.00. Total cost to replace a tire pressure sensor was $25.00. I use to have high praise for Calabash Auto but I don't anymore. read more
