I rarely leave negative reviews, but after the past two weeks I feel I have no choice. I leased a Kia Carnival from Calavan Kia around 18 months ago because I have a family of six. Unfortunately, the vehicle developed a fault and has now been in the dealership's service department for over two weeks with no clear timeline for when it will be repaired. What has been most frustrating is the lack of a suitable loaner vehicle. I was given a five-seat car, despite the dealership knowing full well that the vehicle they're repairing is a six-plus passenger family vehicle. As a result, my family has effectively been stranded over the July 4 weekend and during two weeks of our children's summer break. We have had to cancel family outings because we simply cannot all fit in the replacement vehicle. I've repeatedly asked for a larger loaner--I'm not asking for anything luxurious, just something that accommodates my family--but those requests have gone nowhere. Cars develop faults, and I understand that. What defines a dealership is how they look after customers when things go wrong. Unfortunately, this experience has fallen well below the standard I expected when leasing a new family vehicle. What a great experience. As someone who previously worked at a car dealership, I always feel like the sales department can leave a bad taste in your mouth but the service department? The total opposite. Maybe because one side is locking you into a financial relationship you don't depart from easily and the other is a relationship built on trust, lol. I'm glad to say that this was the latter. Recently, my engine light began blinking while on the highway. No bueno, especially as a pregnant woman who is a late in life driver. Luckily I made it home safely and had time to think over what to do. I'm notoriously frugal when I can be, a little impatient and not a car person. I immediately reached out to a previous mechanic who worked on my car and when he flaked, I began considering other solutions. After getting diagnostics on my vehicle and learning that it was an engine issue, I was happy to learn that the possible issue was one that was covered by Kia. Phew! I purchased my car from a dealership (that left a bad taste in my mouth - see my 1st paragraph) and figured it was worth giving a call to the dealership closest to the place I had just had my diagnostics done at. Lucky me, when I called Calavan Kia, Ms. Brandee picked up the phone in service. What a gem. I explained the situation to her, the fact that Kia said it was covered by their warranty and that although I hadn't purchased my car from them, that I hoped to bring it to Calavan and that they'd take me in. She was incredibly patient and let me know that I could bring it in, but it could take 2-3 days for diagnostics and up to 14 days to fix - YIKES! I called around to local mechanics to see if I threw some money at it, if they'd be "quicker" but after speaking to a local shop owner and telling him the issue, he assured me that taking it to Kia may be my best bet. So I did just that. When I arrived, Ms. Brandee was easy to spot - we love seeing women in service!! Throughout our entire conversation, she was incredibly patient, kind and broke down the entire process and possibilities to me. She event brought over (who I assumed was) a member of the mechanics team to let me know what he believed it could possibly be, which I love to hear even if I don't truly understand lol. I don't like surprises! Being very obviously pregnant and tired, Ms. Brandee let me know that she couldn't promise, but would try to do all she can to have my car expedited so that I would have it if I were to go into labor - ubering to the hospital sounds like such a nightmare, lol. I was so tired by the end of process but that had nothing to do with her, she was the best part. I left with a rental and went about my weekend. On Monday, I called to extend my rental. It wasn't easy to get in touch with her directly because I couldn't remember where I put her card with her extension and per usual, the service dept was busy as I know they are. I left her a voicemail and she called me back within 30 minutes. Turns out I had opted out of their texts and she had tried to reach out to me - oops! Sounds about right, lol. But lucky me - my car was done!! Omg that 14 day window turned into the weekend + barely a full business day. I was so happy to return to pick up my car and even happier to learn that the problem wasn't as big as we expected and that the service team had fixed the issue at no cost to me. Ms. Brandee even tried to see if there would be a way to have part of my rental fees covered due to the warranty, it wasn't possible but I appreciate her for trying. I feel completely ripped off and taken advantage of. Had my son's 2015 Kia Optima's engine replaced under the Theta II class action lawsuit. While waiting for approval from Kia Corp to approve the engine replacement, the service advisor recommended that I replace the hoses and belts at a cost of roughly $800 and if I didn't do it, the new warranty on the new engine would be voided. I asked if I had the service done with my mechanic if that would be acceptable as the price was quite high. She told me that wouldn't work, but knocked $100 off the cost. I approved it and they performed the work. After paying the bill, I saw that they charged $399.98 for the labor. Knowing that the only extra work that would need to take place is to remove two old hoses from one end (either from the car itself if they were still connected after the engine removal, or from the old engine, which would not make sense to me). The belt would have had to have been attached, regardless if a new belt or old belt was used. So, I just paid $399.98 to remove 2 hoses and attach 2 new hoses. My mechanic said that process since the engine was already removed, would take less than an hour. Gemini AI said 15-30 minutes. I drove to Calavan Kia to get some understanding on why I was charged for 2 hours worth of work on my invoice when the actual time should have been less than an hour. I spoke with Bo, the Service Manager, he began stating that this was from the All Data system, and that's just what they charge. I told him that regardless of what the system said, that I should be charged for the actual amount of time worked. I did not convince him. I told him that I would find some other form of remedy, either through Kia Corp, the news, or my attorney. I am strongly warning the public: what Calavan Kia West did to us was not "bad service" -- it was unethical, negligent, and potentially criminal. My boyfriend dropped off his 2022 Kia Stinger at Calavan Kia West on July 14, 2025 for what should have been a simple warranty repair (a sunroof that came off its track). What followed over the next four months was the most unprofessional and disturbing experience we've ever had with any business. Visit #1 (July-September): They kept the car until September 17th, and during that time he had to pay $1,000 out-of-pocket for a rental -- which he is still waiting to be reimbursed for. When the car was finally returned, the sunroof wasn't aligned, the roof and paint were scratched, the back of the car had new damage, and the headliner was bent so badly that sunlight was literally shining through gaps around the sunroof. The seatbelt was jammed and locked, and there was damage around the entire vehicle consistent with someone welding or grinding metal near the car without protecting it. Visit #2 (September 19-23): The car had to be returned immediately. When picked up on Sept 23rd, the headliner was even more bent than before and now there was a loud, nonstop rattling from the roof. Again -- worse than when it went in. Visit #3 (October 30-November 18): This is where the situation became completely unacceptable. While the car was supposedly being repaired, Calavan Kia employees put 295 unauthorized miles on the car -- confirmed through the Kia app. The tracking even shows the car being driven at 2 A.M. and 4 A.M., despite the dealership being closed. This is not a test drive. This is using someone's vehicle for personal reasons. We filed a police report on November 16th, and police confirmed that this type of unauthorized use is unlawful. They even advised that the vehicle could be reported as stolen if it wasn't returned by the next day. When the car was finally "ready," the manager's (Chad) response to the entire situation was essentially "good luck." No apology. No accountability. No explanation. The car smelled like smoke, it still rattles, the headliner is still damaged, and it doesn't drive the same. Other important details: * We specifically requested that a certain tech (TJ) NOT work on the car -- and they ignored that request. * We consulted an attorney (intentional tort/business tort was discussed). * The dealership's negligence has caused repeated damage, loss of use, financial loss, and emotional distress. Bottom line: This dealership had our car for months, repeatedly damaged it, returned it in worse condition multiple times, and then put nearly 300 miles on it with documented overnight driving while it was supposed to be in their care. Their management dismissed all concerns and provided zero accountability. We are now pursuing legal action and continuing to work with law enforcement regarding the unauthorized use of the vehicle. Buyer Beware - Calavan (Purchase Date: 9/9/25) I purchased a used vehicle from Calavan for my college son. The buying experience seemed positive -- friendly staff yet long process. Unfortunately, that excitement ended just two days later. After only 60 miles, the check engine light came on. My Ford Certified mechanic found failing coils and spark plugs, plus several cleared diagnostic codes -- clear evidence the issues were known before sale. The car had also recently been fitted with aftermarket parts. Repairs cost $1,700 out of pocket. Harold/Spencer offered to cover half, which I appreciated, but the same problem reappeared within less than 2 weeks. Further inspection revealed a possible engine crack or block, causing repeated coil failures. The vehicle was later towed back to Calavan, and although Spencer assured me of their "guest service commitment," I have yet to see meaningful action and zero updates. Calavan Kia sold us a lemon. Our 2024 Kia Calavan has broken down and been towed 3 times. Twice the car locked up and shut down while we were driving on the highway! Make things worse, they were no help in getting it fixed. They were never available to address our concerns. They barely answered the phone every time we had an incident. After completing a lease and having the car for many days Dewayne called and said that the financing for the lease did not go through, but that he should still buy the vehicle (at a much higher/exorbitant interest rate). I am extremely dissatisfied with the service department at Calavin Kia Of Lithia Springs GA. The wait time foe a routine oil change with a prior appointment is unacceptably long and often exceeding two hours. The customer service is also subpar. Denzil, the service advisor displayed unprofessional behavior and rudeness after I voiced my concerns to the front desk, it is never acceptable for an employee to speak about a customer in a derogatory manner. I and another customer walked out. I discussed my concerns with the service department supervisor and suddenly, I was able to be accommodated immediately and suddenly there was no wait time. I dropped my car off January 31st for engine problems and received NO communication from my service advisor (Queen) regarding my vehicle. I was aware of the 7+ day wait for a diagnostic before drop-off and expressed the urgency of having my vehicle back by February 11th. Queen made it seem as if she/the service team would ensure proper communication, timeliness, professionalism, etc. and I experienced NOTHING of the sort. The only phone call I received was from the sales team who inquired about me potentially trading in the car. The service team sent a text February 7th recommending four services that had nothing to do with the engine/rod bearing. They were closed when I viewed the text, so I went to the dealership on the 8th (my birthday, might I add!) to get an update. When I arrived, Queen was not there. Neither were my keys! I waited as the service team scrambled around for over an hour to locate them. My keys were locked in a service technician's box who was also off that day. While waiting, I inquired about the 4 recommended services and the MAIN issue, my car's engine. They ensured the engine issue was taken care of after replacing a knock sensor under warranty. They also mentioned that there was a recall on a part for my ignition, and that they would order the part & call when it arrived so I could drop my car off and pick it up next-day. Well...shortly after leaving the dealership (literally an hour after) the engine light was back on. A few days later, the oil light came on too. And after 2 months, I never received a call about the part that they were supposed to order. I went back to the dealership yesterday to ask about the part that should've been ordered in February and inform the service advisors that my car is experiencing the same issues as 2 months ago. I was informed that 1) a ticket was never put in to order the part and 2) I would need to leave the vehicle there again for 7+ days to get a diagnostic. I asked about the possibility of being reimbursed for my rental if they determine the engine should be replaced under warranty and the service advisors could not provide an answer. So I then asked to speak with their manager, Bo Clarke. After I waited over 30 minutes to speak with him, Bo was very condescending and asked "well what do you want me to do about it?" Help to resolve the issue or at least provide an explanation because the service advisors can't! They've already dropped the ball on ordering a part under recall, failed at proper communication, etc. Long story short, NO RESOLUTION. I informed him that another dealership gave me a diagnostic timeframe of 3-4 days so it might be best to take it there for my engine but I would still need that part ordered/replaced by Calavan KIA. Bo told me don't bother. What Bo didn't know upon our conversation is 1) I'm a former employee of the dealership; I was a salesperson who always sold customers on the value of the service team and their willingness to assist customers after purchasing a vehicle. 2) I'd recently lost my grandmother and had no time to bring the car (to sit 7+ days) between work, funeral arrangements, and travel. As a former employee, I then went to visit my old sales manager, Harold, who I'd recently been in communication with, because I want to trade in my vehicle if it's determined the engine can't be fixed under warranty. Bo followed me to Harold's desk to argue about the discussion he and I had in his office moments prior. Harold and I continuously asked Bo if he could walk away as we spoke on a personal matter and he finally did so after 5 minutes of arguing. He then expressed that he doesn't want me to drop off my car to Calavan KIA to be serviced after "bad-mouthing his service team to the sales manager." That's fine, as I didn't plan to drop off my car another week and leave with the SAME issue. But the lack of professionalism in a showroom and service area full of customers? Uncalled for. This is What Calavan Kia Did to a 94 Year Old Woman BTW - I am not in San Francisco anymore. On Wednesday Jan. 29, 2025 A 94 year old friend called and asked me to accompany her to Calavan Kia in Lithia Springs, Ga. the next day. She said a salesman had called and stated her lease was ending and a decision had to be made. She really did not understand and asked I tag along. SPOLIER - THE LEASE HAD NOT EXPIRED, WAS NOT ABOUT TO EXPIRE AND DID NOT EXPIRE UNTIL JULY 2025. AND THEY CHARGED HER $999.95 in DOCUMENT FEES. It was all a scam. On Thursday Jan. 30, 2025 we arrived at Calavan Kia for a 1230 scheduled meeting. And thus began an almost 2 hour of tricks and games. Immediately upon our arrival I asked the salesman for a copy of the lease. We were moved between salesmen. At one point they asked for the keys so they could "inspect" the car. I found this unusual and was told this was so they could determine the buyout value of the car. I once again asked for a copy of the lease because I knew the buyout amount is usually listed in the lease Also the salesman who was originally helping us disappeared and we were told the person with the lease information was in a meeting. During the course of our visit I asked at least 3 times to see the lease. Each time the salesman there was an excuse why it could not be presented. Eventually I told my 94 year old friend "Let's Go" and we got up and started for the door. Almost like clockwork, the salesman rushed up as we were going out the door and asked what was wrong and what could he do to make it right? I explained to him I wanted to see a copy of the lease. It was agreed we would return on Wednesday Feb. 5th at 1230 and he would have a copy of the lease. When we returned on Feb. 5th, I again asked for a copy of the lease at least 3 times. It was during this meeting, the salesman informed us the Lease had expired "last month". When I asked why he hadn't told us that during our last visit he had no response. At this point my 94 year old friend and I believed she had few options and her only options were to immediately surrender the car or to buy it. She decided to buy it. The salesman was asked if the initial warranty, which had approximately 87,000 miles remaining, would still be in effect and he said yes. We then sat there for over 2 hours after she agreed to buy the car while he entered information in his computer and went in and out of the cubicle. I asked the salesman what was taking so long and he said it had to do with the computer. Eventually a woman who was from finance came in and said it would be about 20 minutes more. She returned about 10 minutes later with a IPad that contained the various warranties. The cheapest one was over $3000. It was explained to her we had asked about the originally warranty and the 87,000 miles remaining on it and were told it would remain in effect. She said that warranty was still good but there were things under a different warranty which would be expiring in about 2 years. My 94 year old friend still declined the warranty. The finance woman left and returned with a stack of papers to finalize the transaction. We then discovered 94 year old friend was paying 15% interest, the contract was for 72 months and THE WARRANTY SHE REFUSED WAS STILL IN THE CONTRACT. The finance manager said the inclusion of the warranty was an error and she would remove it. She was gone for approximately 30 minutes and returned. We finally left at approximately 4:15. The next evening I was able to contact a relative of my 94 year old friend who stated the lease did not expire until July 2025. On Friday Feb. 7th I contacted Calavan Kia and requested to speak to the General Manager. I was transferred to Lance Ellis. I explained the situation to him and the fact we had been mislead about the Lease's expiration date. Mr. Ellis confirmed the lease did not expire until July 2025. He asked me to come in on Monday, Feb.10th so we could discuss the matter. On Monday Feb. 7th my 94 year old friend and I went to Calavan Kia. We met with Lance Ellis stated he would need time to "check recordings" and speak with the people involved. My question to him was why had this not been done prior to our arrival. He knew what we were coming about and the salesmen were there when we arrived. He also said "corporate" often sends out notices to the Leasee and dealerships six months ahead of the expiration date so they can decide what to do. We left. If my 94 year old friend had been told on our first visit about the "expired" she could have searched around for better financing. I know this has been a long and winding posting. First I would like to say that our experience with salesperson Nicola Pratt was great. She was patient of course and did her best to help us find the car that was the best fit for us. We had come in for a K5 GT-Line but realized ourselves that we had to move up to the K5 EX to get a better car. (The GT-Line drove and felt like a bucket). My problem is that after we negotiated an OTD price for the car and a fair value for our trade with "the closer" Mario (both figures signed off on) when we got to finance the price of the car and trade price was changed. Not in our favor by no means. Before this, we were given a whole big speech from Mario about how customer service is SO important to Calavan Kia but now here we are...shame on me for not catching this switch before I signed my paycheck away for 5 years. Between sales and finance do you really have to f$&@ your customers over??? Building customer loyalty is not gained by making your customers feel like they got taken advantage of. It really pisses them off. So...you can rest assured that we will not be buying another car from you. And I am gonna make sure everyone I know is aware of how blatantly you lie about customer service and how you will deceive them in the end. FRAUD!!!! I have a 2017 Sorento and I received a renotification for an issue with my vehicle. I was told today that I need to leave the vehicle for 1-3 days. The only option is that I can RENT a vehicle for $40-$60 per day that I am responsible for paying. This is also on top of the fact that Kia will do an inspection and then send it off to see if Kia will even approve this to be fixed. It should be negative 5 stars. So, let me tell you about my experience. Please don't go here for a vehicle. Let me tell you why: I purchased a used Hyundai from them. Fully paid for. To start with, they tried to charge more than the vehicle was originally worth brand new. Then, after 2 to 3 weeks and me waiting on my tag, they sent me a letter via USPS with a check for $40, saying, get your emissions done (which is illegal by the way), and here is the money for emissions and a tag. I go to get emissions, and am told the battery won't read because it is less than 12%. Then I go to a different emissions shop and am told, whatever the dealership added to the computer was added wrong, and an emissions test will not be done because they can't access the computer port. So, I called and then went back to the dealership. After a coming-to-Jesus party, they get an emissions done, test the battery (it's good, but I don't believe them at this point), and then tell me they will send me the tag and title through the mail. Before I left, I asked if next year I could go to get emissions if they removed their mistake. NOPE! It was still there, so I would have had to go through the whole process again. So then, another coming-to-Jesus party happened, and they removed the item from the computer. And I then went home and waited for the tag that was supposed to come. But that wasn't what happened. I never got my tag after waiting forever. So, I finally called the dealership AGAIN, and then found out I have to go to the DMV and get my tag and title there. FINE. I am just supposed to go and pick them up. I go to the DMV to get the tag and title, and guess what? That wasn't what happened. I found out at the DMV that the state will send the title later. It's been 17 years since I had to go through this, and I didn't know any better. But the tag, however, I had to pay for. You know, the tag they were supposed to get handled, but didn't. However, I had to pay for the sticker not once, but twice! Because it was outside of the time limit, because the dealership screwed around, since my birthday was so close, the sticker would have been good for a month before I had to get another. So I had to buy 2 stickers. Because, of course! And then I go to put the *&^%$%^ tag on the car... But that wasn't what happened. Lo and behold.... The screws are the wrong size for the plate and don't fit. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?!?! My advice, if you go to buy a car from this place, cut out the middleman and take your lawyer with you. Actually, a lawyer, a mechanic, Uncle Veto, CEO of KIA... It will save your sanity. Better yet, just go somewhere else. read more

Service manager Bo Clark is rude, obnoxious and has the lack of quality customer service. After 4 months of my 2020 Kia Sportage being at the dealership, my $12,000 repairs were finally completed only for me to picking up my vehicle with dents and scratches and some black substance on my leather seats. That Bo Clark had the audacity to tell me that those things that I found in my vehicle were there when I brought it in which is totally untrue and his unprofessionalism was absolutely absurd. He was rude, obnoxious and and lie to my face as far as telling me that I authorized a new battery when I had just purchased a battery before I left my card there in June. How unprofessional and unreliable is that for a service part manager. And on top of that he had the nerve to bring my car out filthy mind you my car was sitting there in storage waiting for repairs for 4 months. I've had the worst experience with Calavan Kia. I bought a new Kia K5, but a year and a half later, the radio stopped working. Denzel, the advisor, said it needed reprogramming, but I disagreed with a diagnosis because I was told it was due to an upgrade. After a three-hour wait, I was told reprogramming wasn't the issue and was charged for a service I had initially denied. The advisor was dishonest and didn't know much about my service. He suggested I pay $2,300 out-of-pocket for a new radio or trade in my car, which didn't make sense. The service manager was extremely unprofessional, made degrading comments calling a customer HOOD-RAT" and displayed racist behavior. I was told to leave the property and threatened with police action if I returned. read more

I want to share the best experience I had renting a vehicle from Calavan Kia West. I had to put my car in the service center at Kia and needed to rent a car. Hannah Pettyjohn was my service person, and She greeted me with the best personality and professionalism. She made sure I received the vehicle I wanted and got me in and out. Also, Patrick White, was awesome in making sure I was happy, had great conversations with an inviting wit. It was refreshing to talk to nice, friendly, professional people. I am a previous customer who emailed with an offer on a car that I confirmed was on the lot. The salesperson said because Kia was offering $750 in cash back directly from the manufacturer, I was getting a sufficiently good deal and they were unwilling to negotiate even a single dollar off MSRP. That's their prerogative. But the salesperson told me "You're going to have to be flexible." So by flexibility, they mean "customer pays more, but we don't budge." Went to a different Kia dealer and closed a deal the next day for 2.8% off MSRP. Avoid the Calavan clown show. read more
