I eat at El Jalapeno II in Austintown when I'm near it. I've always had great hot food. You can ALWAYS count on the food served hot, on really hot plates. The service is always great. It's like great service, but without the waitstaff always hovering over you. And inside the place, they have a full bar, they got an outdoor patio that's off the street, so you aren't bothered by cars and noise. Draft beers are nice, and nicely priced. Overall, this is a great spot for regular Mexican restaurant food. read more

Food is as good and very service was good. I ordered the BBQ burrito. It was served with Rice, lots of Queso and bbq sauce. It was as described, very heavy and tasty. I could have given a 5 star because I enjoyed it, but mother stood out as exceptional and if I gave it a five star them their is nowhere better to go for those standout awesome experience. Nice takeout... the shrimp burrito was great as was great and the pico de gallo sauce was a star. The mole chicken was okay but it was mainly sauce with shredded chicken - not bad but not special. The sauce wasnt sweet but I couldnt taste any chocolate or spice... All in all a good find. read more

The food wasn't great at all the barria tacos taste exactly how the smell didn't like them at all they were little with no cheese that's something I would not recommend there. I didn't have a bad experience. It wasn't above average. The selection was as you'd expect in a Mexican restaurant. The service was very good. The food was bland. It tasted fine, it just didn't have much flavor. I saw a decent looking margarita. The star at the table was a bacon wrapped jalapeno shrimp skewers dish. I snagged one shrimp and it was pretty good. The jalapeno chunk in the wrap gave it some flavor. Pricing was in line with what you'd expect at a Mexican place too. Parking and seating was ample but we were there at 3 on a Saturday. read more

Stopping at this restaurant was simply the result of a Yelp search in Austintown, OH. What a lucky find! Service was quick and friendly, but our waiter may have been new, because he seemed quite shy, but he was adequate and attentive. I had the seafood burrito with a white cheese sauce that had a hint of jalapeño which gave it a kick. I loved it! The coleslaw that came with it had corn in it, which was rather surprising, but terrific. The rice was a surprise. I'm accustomed to receiving rather dry flavorless rice, but this cook got it right! The rice was moist and even better when mixed with a little of the cheese sauce, but still tasty all by itself. I don't know why it was so much better, but other Mexican restaurants should take lessons. Unfortunately, I'm on vacation and I'll probably never get back to this restaurant but I hope lots of people take my advice and try it! read more

I am updating my review, because now I am giving this restaurant 5 stars. My family and I decided to do take out instead of dining in on this particular evening, and the service and food was just as good. In our to go order, we still received complimentary chips and salsa, and all of our meals were packaged nicely. Service was still good from the phone order to the pick up. When I walked in, there were a few employees at the counter, and they all greeted me and even wished a happy holiday. Definitely recommend this restaurant over and over again! read more

I have no words!! My mouth is full of delicious memories! Let's start with the perfect salsa. Yes, I said perfect ... salsa! I dare you to find or even make one better! Then let's talk margarita. The presentation is authentic and the frozen ice is so soft like no other. Delicious and they don't skimp on the tequila. Yum. I've entered Mexican heaven. Now, the entrees were equally as impressive. My husband had the chicken burritos with queso and I had 3 enchiladas : chicken, beef and cheese with enchilada sauce, rice and beans. Holy Jesus! So glad I found this place! I visit Youngstown about 6 times a year and this mexican place is phenomenal!! The lunch special was so filling and delicious. I got a lunch special and the meal was great as were the retried beans and guacamole. Before the meal came out they bring chips with salsa. The decor and music are festive. One wall is lined with mexican soda that I took off to enjoy and it was worth it. The waiter was also super polite and on top of everything. My girlfriend was on her way so I asked the waiter to bring out stuff when my girlfriend arrived and he timed it perfectly so she didn't have to wait at all and the food was warm for both of us. This place is not that bad at all. However, the service is not that great. Just too many errors between ordering and the servers following up with you during your meal. However, the food is good. Try the Queso with Chorizo. THAT IS AMAZING. Short review but that is seriously all I got for this place. Seems lively during certain days of the week. Ill go back sometimes. read more

When I saw all 5 stars on yelp, I didn't fully believe the hype but I just had to see it for myself. I must say they lived up to the hype! The girls in there were very nice and efficient and our meals came pretty quickly. I got the Guadalajara Special. There was A LOT of food on that plate. I only got thru about half of it. The rest became left-overs. Additionally, everything on it tasted great & was cooked perfectly. THE GOOD: The complimentary chips and salsa was fantastic. THE BAD: The beef in the tacos, toastadas, and burritos, is identical to the beef at Taco Bell. OUR SERVICE: Started great, chips, salsa, and drinks, but quickly went south. There must have been a staff meeting because every employee was in a group at the front door and we had to go get someone to take out order. Food arrived quickly and was immediately auctioned off. Our server saw we needed water and brought us a pitcher so I was able to practice my pouring skills. TO THE STAFF: Don't be lazy. Guests should not be pouring their own water. If they are looking around they need assistance don't walk the other way. I've really enjoyed coming back over and over to this spot during my time out in Ohio. I'm not one to write many reviews, but the customer service and Mexican food was pretty exceptional!
