New waiter clearly new never seen him before and been here a lot. Messed up my food 4 times, had to come back and check if it was right or not and still never got it right. got my grandpas food wrong aswell. brought me something i never asked for. And the dude never used a notepad or anything to write stuff down. had to double check what my grandpa wanted then proceeded to run and yell and tell someone else and they still got it wrong. Have gone past for years and noticed the parking lot is always full, figured that was a good sign. Guess again. We got to the restaurant late, about an hour before closing, but still seemed reasonable. Quick to the table, but then slow for the server to come. Took the drink orders, I'd steer clear of the fountain pops, they taste water down. Then placed our app and entree orders only for the server to return about ten minutes later announcing they were out of shrimp. Okay I guess, so subbed steak for the shrimp. App came out just before the entree which was dried out and tough. We were also abandoned by our waitress and had to go find our own check. No thanks, keep driving. Jalisco's - Mexican Near Me - Salem, Ohio

I realize that we have limited choices for Mexican food nearby but I encourage you to look elsewhere. They advertise as being a Mexican food restaurant, trust me that is not anything even close to Mexican food. Taco Bell is closer to authentic. Probably the best that I've had since moving back to the are is La Fresa in Alliance next to the Dixie Mart. It's take out only I believe but very good food. I know Jalisco's is very popular around here because the parking lot is always full. Explore a little and find better food, it won't be hard. read more

I made the mistake of not getting my normal Mexican restaurant meal... I got a very runny bean burrito, a Luke warm cheese burrito, a pile of lettuce on a tostada & a half gallon of red sauce. Wide menu variety with a la cart and specials. Kids eat free sundays with adult entree. Recommend the chimichangas, 3 standard varieties, but will custom if you want. Having never been here I asked the hotel desk where to eat, they reccomend here. I asked the waiter to suprise me with what he thinks is the best food here. I was NOT disappointed, I got the largest burrito I've ever seen in my life. It was packed full of chicken and steak and veggies. The chips and salsa was excellent also. Constantly passive aggressive towards my partner and I. Given boxes before people served before us and basically asked to leave. We tip well over 30% and clean our table after. We're quiet. The workers have looked at us and laughed. Normally I never assume someone is homophobic and try not to be that kind of gay person. But when I came here last time with another obviously gay friend the service was worse than usual. My partner and I come here all the time and always have some event to make us uncomfortable. Today was the worst it's ever been. Staff needs to learn not to laugh in front of customers or send over other staff to laugh while serving us. read more

There's not much good to say. The salsa is basically tomatoes in a blender, the beef was bland, the rice was decent but the beans were pretty good. The chicken was the best part of the meal. It was marinated, tender and tasty. I had enchiladas, the wife had burritos. It's not worth the drive to Salem. They do have a nice selection of Mexican beers in the bottle. Only Dos Equis on tap. The service was very good and the Tuesday night special (5-9) is buy one meal, get the second for 50%. I won't be back. read more

If it wasn't for the strong smell of cleaning solution, I would give this place 5 stars. The chips come to your table the minute you sit down and they are hot and fresh, served with a nice salsa. The menu is extensive, and they can always adjust based on your needs. I had the luncheon portion of a beef enchilada and a beef burrito. I had a hard time telling them apart as they were buried under a mound of lettuce and sour cream, but they were both good. I didn't eat dinner that night as I was still full. Service was very good and prices are reasonable. The place was clean, but they need to find a solution that doesn't smell so strong. read more

4-Star considering there's no comparable, authentic Mexican in the surrounding area that I'm aware of. Prices are fair, beer selection and drinks are fair as well. Parking is plentiful and the location is easy to find. I enjoy the salsa they give you with the chips you're given to munch on while you wait for your food. Disgusting, save your money. Especially if you want a tamale or a chile relleno. The tamale was watery, yet dry, and crumbled when you touched it with the back end of a fork. The chile was mush, and the cheese coagulated, if pushed it just produced a ton of oil. Seems things are made, frozen, then recooked in the microwave. The staff at the hotel recommended this place. Had fajitas, queso and fried ice cream. Food was really good. Had a unique taste that was good for something different. You know you're in for a great experience when over half the waitstaff don't even speak English; Spanish is their only language (by the way, the service is uniformly excellent even if you get a waiter/waitress who doesn't speak English; just order off the menu). You also know you're in for an authentic experience when you see icons of the Virgin Mary and sundry Catholic saints all around. And Jalisco's is indeed the best Mexican food in all of Salem, OH (it may be the ONLY Mexican food in all of Salem, OH, but never mind you that). Like others, I do wish they had a half-portion menu: their full portions are large enough to make the manliest of men clutch their stomachs in fear. The mariachi band they have in sometimes is very entertaining. The food is great -- the #56 El Tapito is my personal favorite, and the #55 (?) Burrito California is my wife's favorite. We go here every time we visit the Salem area. Highly recommended. read more

Best tacos i've ever had...hands down. Every Tuesday is taco fuckin tuesday...all u can eat for $8 and they are awesome! You can mix and match, i usually get 3 beef and 3 chicken and smother them in salsa and hot sauce. if i were on my death bed...this would be my last meal. No joke they are that good! This is one of the best mexican reastaurants i have ever been to and is no doubt the best eats in town. This place is a town favorite and is a must eat in Salem. I got pork tamales from Jalisco's in Salem, Ohio for the first time tonight. I had heard such wonderful things about this restaurant and couldn't wait to give it a try. I was very disappointed. I got a roll of cornbread with some meat inside. I know what real tamales are supposed to be like. I lived in southern Texas for several years. The tamales there, sold door to door by Mexican families are awesome. Masa harina mixture spread in a corn husk with meats, rolled, sealed and steamed. What I got was basically disgusting. I would have gotten better at Taco Bell. I guess I'll just have to go back to making them myself. read more

Definitely the best restaurant in Salem. They're always busy, but there's never a long wait. I love Mexican but, because I grew up on Jalisco's, I have a hard time finding somewhere in northeast Ohio where the food is as good as at Jalisco's. The service is great, and it's a great place to take parties-- they can handle 12 or more people like it's nothing new. read more

This place is awesome. I was shocked to find such good Mexican food in Salem! The California burrito is delicious (I'm not sure why they call it that when a California burrito has French fries inside and theirs doesn't, but that's not a big deal) and the Guadalajara special are my favorites. Everything can be shared between two adults as well-- the portions are enormous. read more
