Passport photo in specifics. **…read more While this particular Walgreens is my preferred location to go to, the service and organization can be lacking from time to time. Granted, I always come back because there is 100% WORST out there. With me trying to get my life together, I finally decided to get my expired passport renewed. This required me to go and get some photos taken. I hopped online and did a quick search for locations that could help me accomplish this task and up pops Walgreens. I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty hesitant to take this route due to some pretty bad reviews and a number of horror stories regarding the lack of care and knowledge the employees had when it came down to photo requirements. The last thing I wanted to do was waste my time, money, and delay my passport getting renewed. BUT!! Convenience and my laziness got the best of me and off to Walgreens I went. I arrive to an empty photo department but flagging someone down was easy enough. In walks Isabel (shift lead) who makes the process super easy. She asks that I take a seat with a white backdrop and begins to take multiple images. Once she was confident that she had a shot that could be used, she brought me over to a kiosk where Isabel went through a check list prior to confirming the photo and printing it out. The process took about 20-25 mins for the images to be ready. Whoo hoo for same day pick up!! Cost was a whopping $17 for a set of 2 which is a lot cheaper than what passport photographers would charge. 5/5 stars for Walgreen's passport photo process. Isabel seemed knowledgeable enough but the final test will be the government actually passing my renewal application. Stay tuned for a possible "part two" review.

Before opening, an employee named Darlene counted the people in line several times to ensure that the first 24 people would receive a cup. I happened to be the last person in that group. Unfortunately, when it was my turn to purchase the cup, I was told they had already sold out. The person in front of me got the last one. I explained that I had been counted several times and was assured that I was the last person eligible to receive one. I also pointed out someone who arrived late and cut the line. (Someone appearing to be known by the employees there.) Rather than dismissing the situation, the team took it seriously. They reviewed the security footage and confirmed that someone had cut the line and purchased a cup ahead of me. The staff went above and beyond to make things right. They spoke with the customer who had cut the line, who then returned the cup so I could purchase it instead. The Target general manager, Andrea, also apologized for the inconvenience and generously provided me with a gift card. I was genuinely impressed with how professionally and fairly everyone handled the situation from start to finish. Their commitment to doing the right thing and following through made a lasting impression on me. I will absolutely continue shopping at this location and tell all my friends and family because their customer service is truly top-notch. (I also want to mention that deep in my heart, I forgave the person who cut the line. She later came back and apologized to me, which I appreciated. I wouldn't have made such a big deal of it had I not waited in line for a long time, plus the fact that the cup I was trying to buy was for my daughter who loves Starbucks, the color pink, and who I lovingly call "Bear".)

Let me say that, yes, there have been a couple times on the phone where the person was unfriendly and short, even borderline rude. There was also one time in person, ironically, for getting the third Covid shot where the tech half-debated if I qualified for it (I do), but ultimately he let that go and gave me the shot. I thought about knocking off a star for those. BUT... There have also been a couple times where the tech went above and beyond. One time there was an issue with my insurance. She not only sorted that out, but she ran three separate prescriptions against both my insurance and Goodrx to see which combination would cost me the least. All this on a busy day while helping the other customers too and with a smile on her face. All things considered, I'd give the place 4.5 stars, and I rounded. Also, if you put in your phone number when you check out, Safeway will often times give you discount coupons. I have one right now for 10% off up to $200. I'm pretty happy I go here. It's close to home, they have later than typical pharmacy hours (see picture), and it's usually fast and easy. Updated I just put this in as 5 stars about a week ago, but my most recent visit has changed my opinion greatly. Doctor changed my prescription Tuesday. He sent the updated Rx electronically, but by Thursday they didn't fill it, so I called to ask them to. I have insurance, but Good Rx is significantly less expensive. Guy on the phone starts giving me a hassle about it. It's never been a problem before, but I cooperate. He confirms it worked and says it will be about $15. Great. Friday they call me to say the prescription won't be available until the next day because they're out of stock. No big deal. I get a text message that it's $85. I'm thinking the guy that gave me drama about Good Rx didn't put it in, but I can fix it while I'm there and worst case, I can still use my insurance. So it's Saturday now. I go in. The guy tells me it's $85. I tell him I'm using Good Rx and I show him. The price on Good Rx is $25 now not $15, but that's still a lot better than $85. He tells me it's $85 because Good Rx only covers certain manufacturers. Here's the thing, Good Rx gives different prices for different pharmacies. This price is specific to this location and accounts for things like the manufacturer. Ok so I say, "Ok I'll use my regular insurance". He says, "Your insurance requires prior approval." I ask him what that means. After-all, isn't that what the doctor sending in the prescription is? He says there's more to it and my doctor would have to do it. But it's Saturday so my doctor (as most non-emergency doctors) is closed. So the guy confirmed the price on the phone, then they make it 5x higher and all of the sudden they won't take either Good Rx nor my insurance?!? It just doesn't make sense. And what if I was a poor person with a life or death med? So now it's once great service and twice they've inexplicably made it a ridiculous hassle, the other times normal. I definitely see now why they had the bad rating, and I've updated mine.
