They demanded money up front to come out. They said it was this and that, oh wait now it is this. They replaced 2 switches and it shut down right after they left. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! My sister has American Home Shield Warranty, as do I (we will be now cancelling). After multiple times cancelling their scheduled appointment, demanding money before job was done/ telling AHS job was done, not having the correct tools... list goes on the job is STILL not done almost a month later. I instructed my sister to file with small claims court and decided to do some digging and used ccap and found out that the owner who was out to her house has child sex charges from 2022!!! My sister has two children and this is not ok. In addition to those charges he has no license due to being an alcoholic. No wonder he has a women driving him to these appointments and no wonder the cancellations because he is probably locked up or in jail not on vacation like some people are being told. read more

This is the worst company I have ever used! We paid for an entire AC system, they came out 5 times because they NEVER had the parts they "needed". Not only was it the worst work I have ever seen, they left refrigerant leaking into our basement. They left the older unit in the backyard for over a week. The new outside unit was connected and obviously not leveled. They also SET OUR HOUSE ON FIRE!!!!!!! They left ALL the broken pieces and trash all over the basement and outside. The last time they left they said call back if it wasn't working. It didn't work, I called, they REFUSED to come back and finish the job. Refused. SCAM ALERT! - AVOID CALDERA AT ALL COSTS! If American Home Shield tries to send this company out, do NOT let them come into your home. They will scam you, try to make extra money off of both you and AHS. This is a long story, but TLDR version: They tried scamming to get as much money out of both me and the insurance company as possible. I caught them in multiple lies and they even went so far as to even call into AHS pretending to be me when I tried getting cash in lieu of service. Long version: My a/c went down this summer and they came out (after 2 weeks of hot weather and not when they said they would) only to tell me the evaporator coil was worn and had gone bad. Little did the service tech realize, CALDERA had already replaced it a few months earlier under the previous homeowner. After I confronted them on this, they told me that must have been their error and sent a different tech out. This second guy told me there was a refrigerant leak on a valve. They said they'd need to replace the valve and recharge refrigerant. They told me they were replacing refrigerant with R22 and was charging me R22 prices, only for me to catch him putting in 410a in the system instead which is a much cheaper alternative. On top of that, they said there was a signal issue from my unit to the condenser and it still wouldn't kick on, but they couldn't trouble shoot that until they recharged the refrigerant. But oh wait, I had to pay for the recharge FIRST! Red FLAG! The guy got extremely upset with me when I said I wanted to talk to their office about this. Then the office staff was extremely rude to me for even questioning this. While I was on the phone, the tech admitted the system was working fine and just needed the recharge. It was obvious at that point they were just scamming to get as much $$ from me and the home warranty company as they could. On top of that, the second tech that came out smelling heavily of alcohol. I never did get a call back to reschedule from them, which is fine because I didn't want them to come back out, but instead requested a "cash in leiu of service" from AHS. But "someone" called pretending to be me and declined the cash offer. To top it off, no one would touch my system for repair without doing a full system flush of the refrigerant before charging it up b/c they didn't know what Caldera had put in it - they didn't want to be liable. So now repairs would cost almost as much as a new unit, which is the route I ended up taking because of these scam artists. AHS was of NO HELP at all on this and made it long and complicated to get the cash settlement. I only finally got that because my renewal period came up and I wouldn't renew unless I got the money I was owed. This long version barely scratches the surface of the whole story, but moral of the story is to NEVER deal with this company. I'm considering legal action. It is both deeply saddening and incredibly frustrating for me to have to write this review, but I feel strongly compelled to do so because I don't want other homeowners and businesses to be negatively affected by Caldera A/C & Heating LLC and their UNETHICAL business practices. On the evening of July 3rd our central air went out in our home and the temperature was about 83 degrees outside. On July 4th we requested service via American Home Shield (AHS) as the temperature outside was about 90 degrees and rising. We are having record hot days. We've always used this company, through generations of our family and had no issues. We were assigned a Dispatch #244544348 and Caldera A/C & Heating LLC as our contractor. Upon calling on the 4th initially to leave a message for scheduling on the 5th after the holiday, the voicemail inbox was full (it has been since as well other than one time) and I was unable to leave a message. At this time I also spoke with AHS and received verbal authorization to purchase a small 500 cubic ft window ac unit again explaining that our 2,200 sq foot home was unlivable at this time with 3 fans running. When I was able to get in contact with their office after several attempts throughout the day on the 5th, we scheduled for the 10th of July between 9am-1pm. We explained again that our home was in the 100s and we had medical issues, pets, etc in the home. The Caldera A/C & Heating LLC team was notified that we had no power to the unit inside or outside, it would not even turn on but the thermostat was working. On the 10th Caldera A/C & Heating LLC scheduled with us and we were ecstatic to have someone come out. I called at the end of our appointment window as no one had come and they informed me their contractor was sick and pushed our time slot out to the 15th. On the 15th they sent out a young man Omar who was not at all experienced in this field of work and it was clear he was very green. He arrived around 10am and left before 12pm, spent nearly the entire time on the phone with his boss explaining what he was seeing and that he didn't know what was wrong with it, he didn't have parts with him (just two), and spent most of the time on the phone or running outside again. As always, I asked if he wanted water, coffee, if there was anything I could provide while he was here for his comfort. I gave him a nice reusable water bottle in our basement so it would not spill and we wouldn't have broken glass while he was working either. I checked in several times with him as to what he found, whether or not he was able to diagnose the issue, etc. Each time he told me he had no idea, had never seen wiring in our thermostat like this before (which was normal and to code), attempted to replace our $200 smart thermostat with a $20 model two times the size, at which point I asked if they would be replacing it with one of equal value per our insurance policy. Drywall got in our pets food and water and the walls were left smudged and dirty. He had no idea what I was talking about and this seemed to go over his head. I called AHS to confirm and let them know that he came, had no idea what to do, swapped thermostats (which was not the issue), and we all spoke on the phone together in our driveway so he could get any authorization he needed right then and there. He told me that his boss was on vacation and that someone would surely be out Monday with him to resolve this. After that he not only left without telling us what the issue could be, but he took our nice reusable water bottle with him as well which he was not told he could have or take. I called to let the Caldera A/C & Heating LLC office know and again got no resolution other than their boss was on vacation and the water bottle was probably thrown away and someone would follow up. I was told Monday would be the day and I was on the schedule. I called AHS and asked to be assigned a new contractor because these folks not only were difficult to work with but they didn't know what they were doing and had now stolen from our home. I was told that Caldera would not release our contract. Nothing could be done because they had "started work." On Monday the 17th, I again had to call Caldera A/C & Heating LLC to get a response and keep things moving. They strung us along all day. This time, I was again told late in the day that the owner was on vacation and it would be Tuesday the 18th from 9-1pm. Tuesday came and that time slot was then moved to 1-6pm. I was told we would be on the early end of the window. Hours passed, I called in the evening and was told someone was finally on the way. The owner Jose showed up shortly after 6pm and said it would take him 15 minutes. He was here for less than an hour (about 15-20 mins) and concluded we needed a new circuit board and transformer. Update to my sister's debacle with this completely unprofessional company. She submitted to home warranty all the evidence she has gathered so they finally agreed to have a different company come out to see what still needed to be done etc. The new company came out and stated in all years in business they have never seen something so bad before. The new AC unit that Caldera put in was installed with many errors which in turn the new company will have to replace this brand new (month old) AC Caldera installed with another new one due to all the errors made. On top of that Caldera charged $250 for a new electrical box (doesn't cost that much) which they never installed and stated they did so they must be pocketing this money. The new company believes they even damaged their heating system as there is missing parts etc. Caldera did state that this would have to be replaced and he would do the work when he first was at my sisters place. I am sure he purposefully damaged it so he could put in another untruthful high claim to pocket money and not complete a job. Needless to say he probably wont be just facing child sexual crime charges but also will be getting sued for his shady business now that AHS has all the proof and are eating the cost of his errors.
