A hidden Gem. I was staying around the corner and happened to stop by for breakfast best I've had thus far. It doesn't look like much passing by and the menu is simple straight to the point. I ordered the eggs with toast and had sausage. It was freshly done on the spot and toast was warm with butter. The sausage was so delicious. Definitely wasn't expecting this place to be good but I recommend it as everything is done fresh. read more

We stopped at this cafe on the way to the rainforest. It was the only place open in this area at 9 am on a Saturday. Most places here open up around 10 am. This coffee shop has a lot of tables and great for big groups. There is street parking and a parking lot one street away from this location. There is a small pastry case but the menu does have a lot of hot items (see menu pictures attached). When we came in there were only two people working in the morning however they were hustling and busting out orders. Overall our experience here was great. The barista was friendly and the food was delicious. read more

Was taking a walk around our hotel since my parents take forever to get ready in the morning when I found this place! Even though I was originally looking to try some puerto rican coffee, I wandered inside after I saw the "opciones vegetarianas" sign posted outside! They have three vegetarian options aside from the coffee and smoothies. I ended up getting the Lafayette which was a sandwich made with caramelized apples and cream cheese between two pieces of buttered toast and topped with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious! The staff here is also very nice and humoured me when I started off the conversation in Spanish even though they knew perfect English! Definitely coming back tomorrow to try something else! read more

This is a real coffee shop, not like Starbucks but a cool neighborhood vibe kind of place. They make you feel welcome, even if you don't speak Spanish. Everything they make, is with fresh ingredients, and served with a genuine smile. A lot of times when I travel, I want to go where the locals go. Get away from the tourist places. Puerto Rico may not be your first thought for coffee, but they brew their coffee with skill, and pride themselves on their coffee. If you need to find a quiet place to unwind and enjoy some amazing coffee, this is the perfect place to do it. read more

This cafe is so sweet! Stumbled onto it because it is so close to my Airbnb. Had the perfect cup of coffee and a delicious bar of chocolate and am certainly coming back for breakfast tomorrow!! This is an unique place to go and relax. The place have good pastries(please try the Lavender cake), excelente service, free wifi, and of course coffee. For lunch they have the special of the day that are unique sandwiches creation, made with a fresh bread. And the soup are AMAZING. The coffee shop is located near Miramar, Santurce. After spending $40+ on mediocre hotel breakfasts, I was so glad to find a good place to enjoy an amazing cortadito and homestyle breakfast! My sister and I went for their brunch special which includes an entree, coffee AND juice/water for $11.66! The spinach omelette and the Nutella waffle were amazing - highly recommend it! Place has a travel to Paris vibe and the music reminds me of the movie Amelie. Service was pretty quick and very friendly. The latte tasted a bit bitter, like it wasn't very freshly roasted. I also ordered the oatmeal which was a little sweet and did not come with the usual fruits and bananas on top like other cafes but that was okay. All in all, a good place to come in the morning if you're looking for a quiet place to study, however, at lunch time it does get a bit busy. read more

This is what they advertised on Facebook versus what I got. Paid $13 for a St. Patrick's Day "Brunch" on paper plates and plastic silverware that looked nothing like they advertised. The best coffee in the area. Don't let decoration and hipster looks of nearby coffee shops deceive you. I live around the corner and this is my favorite spot for coffee and empanadas. They also have full breakfast, pretty decent sandwiches and some pastries. read more

Tried this place for the first time. We ordered some scrambled eggs and omelets. They were simply presented but very tasty. Iced coffee was very good as well as the passion fruit juice. Stumbled into this unassuming cafe and was stunned to find that they are not only incredibly affordable, but they have gluten free bread! They have nice sandwiches - many grilled and served with a side of plantain chips. The menu is in Spanish but the person at the counter also spoke English. The coffee was also to die for! If you are gluten-free, this little place is worth a walk. read more

The place look nice, the coffee is ok not that great, I love more the coffee of their Old San Juan Spot, and the Service wasn't that good at all. They look lost, and also they offer the Perka Loyalty and they didn't know how to use it. I really recommend their Old San Juan Coffee Shop, is way much better. read more

My wife and I are staying a few blocks from here for a couple of weeks and we're checking out as much Puerto Rican coffee as we can. Walked here this morning having passed it last night. Walk in the door and it just feels fun and extremely friendly. the barista is super nice and the place has a great vibe plus the coffee is awesome-sitting here drinking it now-and we got this incredible sandwich made up of tart apples and who the heck knows what the glaze on the bread is, honey butter and something really addictive cause I am about to go get another. The coffee is excellent-Very fruity and very flavorful. Ok, the bread on this sandwich is killer, too. They have other vegetarian options and I am sure they are just as good. We are definitely hitting up this place again. Yesterday we walked a mile the opposite direction to a cafe that has 200 great reviews on Yelp and it was def deserving of them, BUT this cafe is just as good and we like our food much better-far more creative. If I lived here this would be my daily coffee shop. Shoot, I wish this were my local coffee shop in Philadelphia. Do yourself a favor and drop on by, you'll love it. read more

Best iced coffee I've ever had, the perfect jolt before our trip to Fajardo to ferry out to Vieques. Amazing prices and very friendly service, I'm glad this spot was so close to our Airbnb. We don't speak much Spanish and the barista spoke just a touch of English, but we worked together to get a great breakfast . We left Caldera Cafe very satisfied! read more

Best coffee in town! Miglia is one of my good friends. She got into the business not long ago and now she knows more about coffee than the average joe. The coffee she brews is 150% from Puerto Rico!! None of that commercialized mud they sell in stores. She cares about quality and service. Her coffee shop (caldera) is definitely a gem! Great food. And, did i mention Amazing coffee??!!!! We love this place. It is an easy walk from the Courtyard Mirimar where we stayed. We came here every day for our Cappuccino. Food was very good too. The location on Yelp is off, keep walking another block or two and look for the yellow painted wall. read more

Great environment! A very chill mood. Place has a joyful vibe. When I went people were studying on their computers and there were two tables filled with groups of friends. Great place to unwind and drink a cup of coffee or tea. I had one of their special sandwiches and it was great. Don't be afraid to try something new! I came to this café to work on a project one day, got a coffee and went to work. I got the iced mocha, very yummy! The workers were extremely friendly, and every so often would come up to me to see how I was doing or if I needed anything. Whilst working, one of the nice ladies brought me a waffle free of charge! And let me tell you it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back. read more

Oh boy... this was a 10/10!…read more After spending a long, hot day exploring Old San Juan with the kids, we stopped by Cortés ChocoBar in Condado for something cold, and it was exactly what we needed. We ordered three of their frozen chocolate drinks, and every single one was absolutely delicious. Thankfully, it wasn't busy when we stopped by, so it was the perfect place to cool off and take a break from the heat. The café had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I asked if one of the frozen drinks could be split for the kids, and although they didn't split it for us, they happily gave us two extra cups so we could divide it ourselves. It was a simple gesture that we really appreciated. The frozen chocolate drink was rich, creamy, refreshing, and perfectly chocolatey without being overly sweet. Even the whipped cream was delicious, especially with the chocolate pieces on top. Everyone in our group loved it, and it quickly became our favorite sweet treat of the trip. Whenever we're craving something cold and chocolatey during our stay in Puerto Rico, this will definitely be our go-to spot. We can't wait to come back and try their bonbons before we head home!

I've bought them at the grocery store for my mother over the years when I couldn't find Menier. I was hoping to see some unique desserts at Chocobar Cortés. Let's just say that the chocobar at this location was not what I was expecting. It's like an express version of their original one in Old San Juan. This is located in the lobby of the Condado Palm Hotel. There are 2 entrances. Don't make the same mistake we did by trying to access at street level. That door is locked. You'll need to enter through the hotel lobby. The service is very slow here. There was only one other person there. We ordered a box of 6 chocolates and payed for it. I'm guessing he was making a drink for the other guest because he asked us to wait a few minutes. It ended up being longer so he told his colleague (who just came back from a break) to make up the chocolate box for us. Unfortunately, it took even longer as this other guy was more interested in the 2 young girls who just walked in. The chocolate bonbons were good, but nothing unique. It's the same artisan chocolates that you see everywhere for the same high price. Perhaps this location is better for their specialty cocktails in the evening time. I was looking forward to trying the choco-latte at some point. I doubt there will be a next time.

Caldera Cafe is one of the best coffe shop in San Juan. The customer service is great, the food is really delicious and the coffe is the best!! They have a/c, Wifi, and backup power generators. The place has a great ambiance suitable for family gatherings, business meetings, a temporary workplace or just friends catching up. Highly recommended 5!!! read more

Great 100% Puerto Rico arabica coffee. The service is excellent and the food great. They have vegetarian options. I wanted a dirty Iced chai with almond milk... and thats exactly what I got. it was great. They also serve breakfast ALL DAY! I ordered the 'Talleres' which is a breakfast burrito. IT WAS AMAZING! Not sure if this was because they were closed yesterday for Good Friday, but consider calling if going on a Saturday! The place was busy, but they were fully staffed and service was fast and our drinks/food came out quickly. A live band played outside, but it was acoustic and the volume was very reasonable. I wanted to buy locally roasted coffee beans for home and this turned out to be the best place to buy them. I bought two 8oz bags, $14 and $15 respectively. Compare that to 787 Coffee that wanted $30 for a similar sized bag (even more for their alcohol infused beans!). Gustos also sold 2lb bags of beans if you really need to make a lot of coffee. Sadly, the roasting date was not stamped on any of the bags. The cold brew coffee was good. The French toast was mediocre -- the bread was sliced too thin, with very little batter on the exterior, and zero saturation inside the bread. The fresh blueberries and grated coconut were nice, but the syrup tasted cheap. My wife had the Gustos and it was delicious. We saw others with avocado toast and it looked tasty too. We bought little bags of dried plantains on a whim at the counter -- turns out they were $3 each. Otherwise, prices were very reasonable.
