Every. Single. Thing. at this restaurant was above and beyond. The service, the food, the atmosphere, and the prices were phenomenal. This was hands down our best meal in PR. We had the papas bravas and croquettes to start. Both were delicious. Two of us had the sea bass with chimichurri which was out of this world. Our two teen daughters had burgers and they said they were delicious. We also had the bread pudding and it was the best bread pudding I have ever had. We had a bottle of wine and had to ask if it was glass or bottle prices.... Very reasonable and the staff gave excellent recommendations and were very attentive. We had a large group (party of 9) come for a family dinner recently and this place was so accommodating!! They do not take reservations past 6pm but show up and wait in the bar/lounge area. You will not be disappointed. The bartenders were so friendly and welcoming. Once it was time for us to sit down and dine, service was amazing!!! This place was incredible! The patatas bravas had more sauce than I've experienced previously but they were cooked to perfection. For our main courses, the portions were HUGE. My chicken sandwich came with two breasts, so I couldn't finish it but the flavor was great. I ended with the bread pudding which I loved. La Bodeguita gave upscale vibes without the overpriced menu items. I got the Gin-Ah! cocktail ($13), which was refreshing with mint, grapefruit juice, gin, and sparkling wine. I also tried the Darkiri ($13), which was reminiscent of a mojito, with rum, lime juice, and mint. A HIDDEN GEM IN PR. A must visit!! This will be one of your most affordable dinners on the island, and one of the most memorable. I have only been impressed by a speakeasy once prior; and much like this visit, I have absolutely no idea how my husband pulled off finding it! After nights of street food, I told my husband that I was craving a sexy dinner... and here he brought us! We walked in the bakery and I was absolutely confused... why was I wearing this nice dress? After a stop to the bathroom, my husband opened the "refrigerator door" and we were whisked away into one of the most romantic restaurants I have ever seen... dark lighting, very limited tables, a full bar, and a wine room surrounded by glass walls in the back. Oomph! We walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation; elsewhere, this would be a nightmare, but we were immediately seated without judgement. The waiter recommended the beef tip appetizer (a must try!). We sipped on rum cocktails (yum), and were brought a complimentary dish of truffle fries (YUM!!). Ultimately, we ordered the chicken and mahi mahi... my husband absolutely scored ordering the chicken. My mahi mahi was okay, but overcooked; his chicken was one of the top dishes we had in PR. We both chose rice and beans as our sides, and it was the best BY FAR by the end of our weeklong trip. The night was going so well, I chose to splurge and ordered crème brûlée- not the best, not the worst. The fruit on top was delicious. When the check came, I was blown away we were under $100. We were looking for a restaurant within walking distance of our condo and found La Bodeguita de Manolo. The atmosphere is that of an upscale lounge and then we were told that we had to walk towards the back to actually get into the restaurant. It was busy for a Wednesday night so we sat at the bar, which was absolutely no problem at all. Service was efficient and friendly and the food was phenomenal. My sister-in-law had the filet mignon that came with brie and caramelized onions and I had the "Congri con to'", which is like a pork/ black beans and rice/ plantains Bowl with these ultra fine Julienned potatoes on top and cilantro. It was absolutely delicious! Drinks were on point and reasonably priced as well. After dinner we went over to the bar area and had some cocktails. The bartenders were super friendly as were the patrons! Overall we had a great time and will most definitely be back the next time we are in San Juan. read more

I don't know that I've enjoyed a place as much as this in years. Food, service, and ambiance all on point, without trying too hard. From concept to execution, the people behind this lovely spot have crafted something special and in many ways, refreshing. The use of space here is excellent - they have created a cozy environment that, while small, somehow manages to have nooks. The decor is textured and varied, with clear intentionality and taste. It evoked a note of those old stone wine cave basements in Madrid - an achievement on the ground floor of a modern hotel tower in San Juan. The food was lovely, a great mix of Puerto Rico, Spain, and even hamburgers. We were walking over to 173° afterwards for cocktails, so we stuck to wine. And this is where I was truly impressed: they price their bottles Spanish style. Instead of a 300% markup or more like in most US restaurants, the bottle prices here are far closer to what you would actually pay in a retail store, maybe a 50% markup. So much better this way. How many places in life do you go where it seems like everything around you is designed to extract as much money from you as possible? In cities, resorts, whatever else. It can be exhausting, so much so that when you find a nice place that doesn't behave that way... the relief is striking. Like finally exhaling when you didn't even realize you were holding your breath. That was the Bodeguita. We highly recommend it. read more

The bartender was not only a wonderful served but he chatted us up and was generally gray. We went during lunch but I would love to check this place out for dinner and when their bar is fully open. The food here is absolutely INCREDIBLE. We got the pear and arugula salad to start which was very refreshing. For a main, we saw they had paella on the menu on their website, but came to find out they are no longer offering it anymore :( Instead, our waiter suggested the congri con to which is a rice dish with pork which was absolutely delicious. The flavors were out of this world and it also had a nice kick to it, not too spicy but spicy enough to add a little flair. The waiters were all so nice and the service was amazing. I was blown away by this place. Wow. I ordered a strawberry shrub with lavender sparkling water and vodka. It's a bit on the sweeter side but it's incredible. We made dinner reservations a month out on a Thursday night since they usually have live music those nights. Unfortunately, the Thursday night we went, there was a private event going on and the winery room was completely shut down. Only the restaurant/bar portion was open which isn't very big. It wasn't crowded though so it wasn't an issue and we had a reservation. The interior of the dining area was dark, cool, vibey. The tables weren't cluttered. It was a cool aesthetic. They have a private dining room off the floor as well and there was a dinner party going on while we were there (glass windows - you can see in). While the restaurant wasn't very crowded, the service was slow and our server was not the most attentive. Luckily the drinks and food made up for that. The bartender was really friendly and helped us order a round of drinks before we got seated. They had some very interesting cocktails - one we ordered had a burnt/smoking piece for rosemary with it. For mean, we started with the pork belly bao buns - very tasty but pricy; you get 3 to an order. For our mains, my boyfriend tried the bodequita chicken and I got the short ribs. Both dishes were excellent. If I were to go back, I'd try the chicken dish my boyfriend got since it's very different and not something I've ever seen in NYC. We were too full for dessert. All in all it was a nice dinner - just wish we could've enjoyed some live entertainment. read more

It took us awhile to figure out the menus but once we knew which one to look at, there was an abundance of delectable options. High overview: it was our first meal in PR and we made sure before we left, that it was also our last meal. Below is the list of items we ordered both times. We got the steak for 2, the truffle Mac & cheese, the mezcal cocktail, the chicken sandwich, one of the burgers, the squid ink fettuccine, fish tacos, croquettas, (and I think even more!) the only thing good about this place is the cool hidden door entrance and the food being alright. besides that the service sucks and we were pissed and hungry by the end of the night :) from the second we sat down they asked us what we want to drink; and then continued to walk away and ask again 10 minutes later. we finally got our waters 20 minutes in and our food didn't come for an hour and a half, and when it did they got our order wrong and the portions were so small. when we asked them to correct our order it took another 15 minutes for them to bring us a side of rice. by the time we got everything and could eat it was all cold, too small, and we were upset, yayy read more

Ambiance, you walk in and it feels intimate, low lighting, light fixtures are nice and creative design is like a industrial wine cellar vibes. They do have an enclosed wine cellar where you can reserve a big table privately. Now, when it comes to the food let's just say you cannot leave without trying the octopus! We also ordered alcapurrias and the Bao Buns. For the main entrees we ordered Arroz con To rice with pork and beans mixed. Also the black in Fettuccini with calamari and shrimp. Very delicious!
