My kids have been attending Cali Camp for five years and we'll be back again next summer. Cali Camp is just the best. Their location is beautiful and the activities are great, but the best part of all is the amazing staff. What a wonderful and exploratory experience! There are so many great resources and activities for the kids to participate in. They can become expert lanyard makers and enjoy water slides. I was a chaperone on the same trip that a previous commenter was on (93 5th graders) and I judge the success of the day by the kid's take-away, and if you ask the kids, I'm betting that each one would say they had a blast. Sometimes we get caught up looking at these things through our filter, we see all the blemishes, but where we see a slightly treacherous hike, the kids see adventure. There is no question that the zip-line was the crimp in the schedule, it's hard getting 93 kids up the pole safely, give them a quick safety talk, have them zip down, and then get them down from the zip line to the ground. Having said that, EVERY SINGLE KID who wanted to zip, did. As far as the special needs kid who got stuck up on the zip line, no question, should've been handled better. But after the kid down, and he put the experience behind him and had a great day. I don't know if the previous commenter has ever worked at a camp, or tried to control 93 5th graders before, but you have to keep order if you want to keep to your schedule, it's just a fact of life. So, as you would expect you do hear the counselors trying to keep the kids quiet...because they are kids and they like to talk. So, where he saw counselors that "don't like kids", I saw counselors that were trying to maintain some order so that the kids could get through all their activities. Which they did, and the kids enjoyed each one. The thing I found most interesting from my daughter was that when I asked her what her favorite thing was, I thought she was going to say the zip line or archery, but she said it was the camp-fire. The fire was the perfect size for our group and the kids got up and did skits and had s'mores and they laughed and were just kids. Like I said in the beginning, sometimes we can't look at these things through our parental filter. Was everything perfect, nope, but what is? My daughter loved everything about the day. She loved her counselor, all the activities, even the bus ride. I hope our school continues to do this trip. read more

Cali Camp is a wonderful camp. My daughter enjoys every second she is there and talks about it throughout the entire school year. The grounds are beautiful and there are so many unique areas for the kids to play and learn. Everyday is a new adventure! Besides the beautiful grounds, what really sets this camp apart from the others is the caring staff members. From the lifeguards, to the nurse, the counselors to the directors- the staff at Cali Camp truly care about your child's well being. They are genuine and really focus on each individual creating a unique memory for each and every child. The camp also puts on great events that the families are able to attend which really brings my heart back to my childhood. We just had a birthday party for my 9 year old daughter. It was the best party ever. We did the ropes course and zip line and I was concerned the girls might not like it, I was so wrong, they loved it. It was so empowering! The counselors especially KC were outstanding. They were patient and made sure all girls were taken care of and felt comfortable whether they wanted to do it or not. Even the girls who didn't want to participate were given something to do. It is plenty of green grass and hills to run and have a great party. We are planning our next party, end of year soccer party there already can't decide if it will be aerial, zip line or go carts! read more

If you have a 5 or 6 year old that is adventurous just be aware they are not permitted to do all of the activities. My 5 year old daughter loves to rock climb, horseback ride and zip line. She was permitted to do those activities at a different camp so she was disappointed when she had to just watch the older kids do them. We love Cali-Camp it is the best for the older children. We plan to send our daughter again when she is 7. read more

Our kids (ages 6 and 8) have been going to Cali Camp for a couple of years and this is hands down the BEST camp in Los Angeles (and we've tried a LOT of them!). The grounds are breathtakingly magical and expansive. There is a bamboo forest and sprawling fields, and a pond, ropes courses, go-karts, horses, and swimming pool... the list goes on and on. The themes are super whimsical and creative and the kids get to use their imagination doing all sorts of fun things! There is a strong sense of community and the kids come home each day with this feeling of zen, beaming with pride. The bus ride is half the fun, with songs and cheers led by the counselors. Cali Camp is the most wonderful camp around! My son has gone for several years now, and is looking forward to being a junior counselor next year. The property in Topanga is beautiful, the activities, sports, games, are outstanding. My son has made so many new friends, and gained confidence in his athletic abilities and social skills but most importantly, had FUN! The counselors are so caring and professional and the camp is extremely well-organized and well-run. There is not enough praise I can heap on this camp! I want to thank Cali Camp for the amazing work you are doing with the kids. In the past five years that my daughter has attended Cali Camp she has always loved it and looks forward to coming back all year. Even after we moved, which would require an early departure, 45 minute drive just to get to the bus, and then another long drive to camp, she pleaded to go. And we were happy to send her since she comes home joyful every day. As a working mom, Cali Camp has been a reliable, emotionally and physically safe place for me to send my daughter. Our family has been so grateful for that over the years. But this year in particular, as our daughter embarked on her journey as a Junior Leader! Now she comes home each day chatting enthusiastically about the JL leadership sessions, the focus on communication skills and techniques, the journal writing, the mentoring, the social-emotional skills that are being demonstrated by the counselors and practiced by the JLs, and her love for the kids she is caring for and the counselors she adores.
