I found a listing on StreetEasy for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment on in turtle bay listed by Michael Rockman and Rohit Kumar as associates of Caliber so I made the trip to see the place. Rohit met me there and I asked to wait for my fiancé which he insisted in showing me the place immediately although I got there 15 mins early. I was very excited about the large actually the word "massive" was used in the description and it also said in the description that the apartment can flex to a 2 bedroom which made me believe it was a true 1 bedroom 1 bathroom. He was so professional, energetic, and proactive, everything that I could expect and want in my real estate agent. During his years of experience, he amassed a great understanding of the New York city real estate market and is able to tell you every nuance about a particular neighborhood, building, and management company. He used that knowledge to find me the BEST apartment! As soon as we started working with him, he invited my fiance and I to his office to sit down and discuss our budget, neighborhoods for young couples like us, friendly people, and other criteria we wanted in the apartment. Most importantly, he was able to show us apartments that weren't even publicly available yet, so we were the first to see them. My husband and I are relocating to New York from Washington state and Stav Glick was the first Realtor we spoke with. Boy, were we happy she was! She sent us videos of each place, she made herself available at all times, including evening hours pacific time, which meant she was working even later on the east coast! She is on top of her communication and VERY responsive. She walked us through every road block and fought hard to get us into a place and location we wanted. When our credit came out to less than desirable she found and provided us with the best possible solutions to get us a home. I don't think the phrase "give up" is in her vocabulary! I've gone through several apartment searches in Manhattan, and 1) it's really difficult to find good apartments for a reasonable price, 2) it's not always pleasant to work with brokers. I have worked with other good brokers, but Afik is the only one I would actively recommend to friends because he consistently goes above and beyond. I am someone who always has too many questions and I often hold back from asking everything, but Afik immediately and thoroughly answered all of my many questions no matter what time of day it was. I felt comfortable enough to ask away, and he was often perceptive enough to give us extra information even when I didn't ask, if it was relevant to our search. I can't speak to the entire Caliber group, however I can speak to my experience with Afik Azulay who was incredible to work with. I was actually working with 4 other brokers at the same time since it was my first time trying to find an apartment in NYC and wanted some frame of reference and the most for my money. He was extremely easy to speak to, down to earth, and after showing me a couple apartments around my price range, he knew exactly what I was looking for and only showed me realistic options considering my budget from that point on. He was flexible to my availability and met with me around my schedule- during my lunch and after hours to show me places. I specifically can remember one meeting we had scheduled to see one place and he ended up having three other places set up for me to see, all within the location I told him I wanted to stay within. He will work HARD for you and really wants to see you happy over pushing to get his fee at the end of the day. Afik genuinely cares and wants you to get the place you ultimately really want, and will work with you to make it happen! He is very honest and keeps it real! If you're not ready for the truth, then maybe you shouldn't be looking for an apartment in the city... the realistic nature of getting a place in the city within the budget you have, location you want, and amenities or specifics you're hoping for are NOT easy to come by and nearly impossible to find unless you have a flexible move in-date and take your time in waiting for that perfect option. In the end, Afik helped me in getting approved for an apartment, which I ended up not taking because my boyfriend came back into my life at the last minute and I decided to stay in NJ to try and work things out. Afik was not upset and wished me the best even though he had done weeks of work for me, basically for nothing in return.
