I have been a renter with the Brodsky organization since 1991. For the most part I have been treated mostly with first class. Argent a staff member is respectful and easy to work with. Only with two individuals have I had issues. Tanya Hornsby and Caroline Bracey are office workers with no customer service skills, they show no respect, and ignore common respect. They immediately demand and attempt a superior position but only put them in an inferior position. Not sure what motivates them. Most recently Caroline Bracey sent me a letter demanding I have a professional inspect my air conditioner. She was not interested in having an interaction but saw an opportunity to a false sense of superiority. She never asked me my version of the situation or what my solution might be, but repeatedly demanded I hire a professional to fix the issue. Other employers are totally respectful and collaborate. NEVER EVER MOVE HERE- the leasing office is beyond rude and incompetent. They were under construction for the whole two years we lived there and didn't give any compensation / notice when we were moving in. We tried to file a lease assignment and they delayed it by 11 days in which we were calling heavily - the new girls moving in had no place to live for 11 days, all their packages were sent away, and the leasing office didn't even pick up the phone for half of those days. When the legal paperwork finally came in (after I threatened calling a tenant attorney), they said we had to pay $6,200 in outstanding payments (which is more than our rent amount) to sign it - then when I asked again they changed it to $2,000. Their accounting team is also terrible by the way. After this whole 2 month debacle, they upped the new tenants rent by 17 PERCENT for a one year re-sign. They also refused to cover the June 1-11 rent and made us pay it - even though they caused the delays read more

Absolutely horrendous experience at Brodsky. We were having terrible smells in our apartment when turning on the AC and were always dismissed by the management team for a full year and a half. It turns out there was water accumulating behind the AC that was leading to the gross smell and we kept on being gaslit by management. For a "luxury" building, this was such a negative experience and I wouldn't recommend this organization for any folks looking to rent units. Stay away!!! read more

I moved in last December. This was when apartment prices were very low due to the pandemic. Rather than offering free months, Brodsky lowered the base rate of the apartment. The leasing agent said that this was better than the free months because if apartment rates go back up in a year, they won't raise it that drastically to meet the new higher rates. Well, here we are, almost a year later with apartment rates back up and what did Brodsky do? Raised my rent by 40%. Yup, raised my rent $1200, basically evicting me. What makes this even more frustrating is that throughout the entire year I lived here, they mass renovated all their apartments flooding my apartment with loud construction noise. That was particularly fun when I was trying to teach remotely. They also regularly (once a month) turn off BOTH the hot and cold water for a whole day ... so fun filling up jugs of water to prepare for those days. Frequent emails about closing the trash chute or shutting down an elevator for repairs. With all this going on, I only complained ONCE. When it was nearly impossible to remotely teach from the intensity of construction noise. How does Brodsky repay loyal tenants? By raising their rent 40%. I have multiple friends who had rented apartments at similar times as me when the rates were low and NONE of their management companies had the audacity to raise rent like Brodsky. It's shameful. I live at 208 west 23rd street. Somebody please help get me in touch with someone above the district manager who refuses to work with me on the lease term. He also refused to let me escalate to someone in a higher position. I find it disheartening that my rate was increased 24% during these difficult times, as well as the refusal to enforce mask wearing rules. To get any sort of response, I've had to send multiple emails. All I am asking is to sign longer than a 12 month lease so that I don't have to go through this stressful increase again next year . Current issue: on 8/23 bedbugs were reported on 802 19 West 69th. 8/24 bedbug dog showed up and found them all over 802. As of today 8/28, management has NOT treated the apt in spite of daily pleas from tenants. 702 has them. Tenants moved out and they are re-renting. Is there full disclosure? Management has dodged the tenants saying ridiculous things like: there were only 3 bedbugs, we have already treated it, we will get back to you, oh, there is a mixup. NOBODY HAS HELPED MY NEIGHBORS! I am shocked by any negative review of Brodsky Organization. I fully understand that most reviewers would only go on Yelp to review a building management company if they had a specific complaint, but my experience with EVERY EMPLOYEE at Brodsky has been nothing but overwhelmingly positive and that starts with the District Manager, Adam Crisci who has been pleasant, professional and 100% transparent from our first conversation along with Zayna Wahhab who is responsible for my building Having lived in luxury condo buildings for the previous 10 years, I was a bit hesitant to move to a rental, but to my surprise, this building is actually run better than any condo I have lived in and the building is very well maintained. They have been fantastic thru the entire Covid crisis and have gone thru great lengths to make sure the tenants feel safe and comfortable. In summary, getting honesty and transparency from anyone in real estate can be challenging at times, which makes me all the more appreciative of Brodsky, and I look forward to living in their buildings as long as I am in NYC Thanks again to Adam and his great team !!!!!!! read more

all of these reviews are correct. this is the worst management company ever! my rent went up from $1850,$2400 to $2700 . i had roaches, a ton! , no hot water which I was told " I needed to run my water because the person upstairs didn't run theirs enough" LOL my apartment flooded and I had big water pockets and damage and I kept getting yellow moldy walls and they told me these walls couldn't mold and did nothing about it! a random man was on my roof and was taking pics of me in my bathing suit. when I contact the super he brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal, I asked him to check the cameras he never got back to me! these people are pure trash and just care about $$$$ . a person died in my building and they let their body ROT for weeks without checking until people kept complaining about a smell. They are a HORRIBLE management company. They are currently having leasing agents directly lie while giving tours in my building. They are saying one Columbus Place construction is wrapping up. It is not!!! See the videos of the incredibly loud construction. Whenever anyone moves out they start another unit. They are saying it "isn't audible". LIES. You can hear it for floors. It is so loud you feel like it's right on top of you. It's suffocating and impossible to live in your apartmeWhen you have an issue in the building they could not be any less helpful. Vile and unclean. The building managers do not care about maintenance or providing a quality standard of living for its paying tenants. Don't be fooled by the computer generated renditions of this place; this is the dirtiest apartment in NYC. Noise control is poor. They really skimped on materials here. I had two (!!) massive bed bug infestations due to The Brodsky management negligence. My neighbor at 19 West 69th lived in incredibly unsanitary conditions and given the close proximity of NYC apartments, bed bugs from his apartment easily contaminated mine. I've been having a problem in my apartment for months that they're simply ignoring; they're not even *pretending* to be motivated to fix it, and on the rare occasion when I've managed to get a response from someone in charge, they've been incredibly rude, combative, and frankly seem ignorant about basic tenant rights. It's been almost a month since I emailed them per their request. No reply. The associates at Brodsky are rude, patronizing and unprofessional. We've had construction outside our building for a month now, and they can't give us an estimate of an end date because "they don't have anyone supervising the crew." That seems not only negligent, but dangerous for the business. We've had scaffolding and dark netting up outside our windows for weeks, which blocks out all natural light. Do not by any means sign an apartment with Brodsky. They are impossible to work with, raised rent roughly 30% after neglecting any and all requests to replace completely broken and non functioning appliances with no apologies, and after offering to lower rent based on non working appliances, then revoked the offer for no reason the next month. They are irresponsible in managing their own online portals as well. After raising rent, they forgot to reflect the price in the online portal for 3 months, and then charged for all the cumulative months as well as an additional security deposit after having lived there for over 1 year all at once. They are unapologetic for their own mistakes, and absolutely impossible to work with in any way shape or form. On Wednesday, January 30th, I came back home around 8:30 and the apartment was freezing. I called the doorman and he sent the handy man to check the problem. He informed me that the problem was not with the heating, but rather with the window as it is not sealed. I asked him for the solution and he said he could seal it the next day. I informed him that I could not sleep this way, but he said it is now too late for him to do it. Being frustrated, I asked him to bring me the plastic and tape he would use to seal it and I would do it myself. He brought me the things and I did it myself but the plastic was shorter than the windows and I could not adequately do it so it was falling apart and I still had to sleep in the cold. I also cut my finger while I was trying to fix it and fell twice while I was trying to reach the top. In the morning, I talked to Teena and showed her a picture of the window with the plastic falling apart and she said that I should place another ticket and leave them the key and they will take care of it. I informed her that I come home at 6 and asked if they could do it then and she told me that the handy man works until 9:30. When I came back around 6:20, I informed the door man and he sent the handy man over to my apartment. When the handy man arrived, he again said that he could not do it. I informed him that Teena said that it should be done tonight, but he again refused claiming that it is too dark outside for him to do anything. Then, he started yelling at me and saying that he could not help me. Being frustrated, I asked him to leave the apartment. At 8:15, he came and asked if he could take measurements of the radiator heating and I let him do that then he started yelling at me again so I asked him to leave the apartment and I called the door man who suggested that I talk to the super intendent. The super intendent came while I was calling 311 to make a complaint and started measuring the temperature as well. Then, he tried to talk me out of complaining to 311 and telling me that they already know about the building problem. After that, he started taking pictures of me and my apartment so I asked him to leave. He proceeded to head out and I was right behind him so I close my door. He then suddenly turned back and hit his body against mine forcing me to move out of his way so he can continue taking the picture. Feeling terrified I screamed, but he said "no need to push me. I will leave". The lady over the phone then transferred me to her supervisor so I can report the harassment to the police and use the recorded phone call as an evidence. I would like to let you know that I am very frustrated with how my complaint was handled and terrified of how I was treated. I chose to live in a door man building that is managed by a professional management to be treated professionally and with respect and dignity. Now I do not feel safe in this building and I feel humiliated and disrespected. No woman should feel terrified in her own apartment this way. I am just notifying you that I am pressing charges against the super intendent and the Brodsky management and therefore requesting the full information of the super intendent to file my complaint. I have also filled a complaint regarding the window situation. I got terrified of the idea of sleeping in the apartment knowing that the handy man and the super intendent have access to my spare key. I went downstairs while crying asking the door man to give me the spare key because I am afraid of sleeping after the handy man and the super intendent harassed me. He responds, "I am not allowed to give you the keys" and why would they come back after you? Do you think you are that important so he would come back after you and lose his job?" I told him that what he is saying is insulting and he should not talk to me this way, he then calls Teena and leaves her a message. I left and went upstairs to my apartment, but five minutes later, someone knocks on my door saying he is the door man. I asked what he wanted and he said he wanted to give me the keys. being afraid to open the door, I asked him to put the keys in front of the door and leave so I can open my door and get it. He refused to leave it and went downstairs. I do not want anyone from the building to come knocking on my apartment door unless I give them a permission to come upstairs and I will not respond to anyone unless I speak to someone from the Brodsky management and file a harassment complaint. read more

I'm going to write a long review. Long story short, this place sucks. I lived at 75 West End Ave, the C tower. It was a terrible experience. Honesty the building is beautiful, it's located in a great neighborhood in Upper West Side but the worst management ever. The rental office is terrible too, bunch of lazy, unprofessional people. It took them nearly two months to send me my contract after I called and followed up every day, very irresponsible and unprofessional people. The woman who was in charge of the rental office at the time (her name was Suzzane) was very rude and unprofessional. The building is 20 years old which is normal in Manhattan, but I had workers in my apartment every week. Every day something was wrong in the apartment. Ceiling paint was old and every day one part of the ceiling would fall down. The floor would pump out. First two months I lived there they changed my unit AC three times. One morning I woke up with the water sound, all my apartment was filled with water, it was like raining in my apartment. My tv, my books, everything was ruined. It was a problem on two floors above my apartment. I ended up having workers in my apartment for two weeks everyday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. I got really sick during that time because of all the dust in my apartment. The walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbors breathing. I had an annoying next door neighbor who wanted to watch tv very loudly from 1:00 am to 5:00 am every night. I had to call to the front desk at the midnight and beg them to ask them to bring the volume down. Long story short this place was so bad that I hired an attorney and terminated my contract after four months cause I couldn't take it anymore and I got really sick because of all the works in my apartment. Also, don't get fooled by the referral program, they say if you refer a friend you'll get $500 reward on your rent, it's a lie. My best friend moved to R tower and they totally denied my request. If you want to live in a roach infested building, Brodsky is where you should look. I've been living with a roach issue in West Pierre since I moved in 2+ years ago. The entire building is infested, yet the building manager, Anna Seddio has gone so far as to blame me along with other tenants saying they're likely being brought in through grocery bags + packages. I've been assured the exterminator did a thorough search and there was "NOT an infestation." Then last night, I found the source at a neighbor's apartment. It's a complete infestation and I sent a video to both of them. Anna's manager, Rick Mason told me today that he or Anna would contact me after receiving the video. I have yet to hear from either. The construction going on in this building is never ending. Is been going on for more than a year now. I wake up with drilling and hammering noise and it's all day. We were going to move out, but since I got pregnant we decided to stay hoping the construction would be over. When you write to management, they never apologize for the noise. Also, things are constantly not working in the apartment. If you have a car, the garage owner is not a nice man. They have damaged my car several times. Make sure you look over your car when leaving and picking up. Also, know they need 3 month notice when you leave! Don't deal with Brodsky! What a bunch of crooks for 1 Columbus Place! I needed to move out as I got a job in another city and they won't let me out of my lease after living here since 1999! Management said that without 60 days notice I will need to pay a 3 month penalty to get out of my lease. What a bunch of crooks! Not only would they be getting money from me for the months that I'm living in Chicago but they will be able to get a new tenant a much higher price! Crazy!! Got to love that customer service! Moved into an apartment in West Village that had layers of yellow dust covering the surfaces and a crack in the ceiling. We mentioned the crack in the ceiling, but nothing was ever done. With the rain and snow lately, our ceiling crack got bigger and there is now a leak. Our super informed the management company, didn't hear anything back, so I sent an email and also got no response. I left a voicemail and called the secretary who was rude. Blows my mind how difficult it is to 1. respond, 2. follow up like any other professional, and 3. to show even the slightest concern. Thought it was common sense to follow up on things but clearly not. Don't live in these apartments unless you want to be chasing for follow ups - unprofessional and lack of care. read more

thank you Brodsky,  aka Urban Associates.  They were the mgmt company for my cousin's rent regulated apartment for many many years.  I managed all her finances the last few years so I had a LOT of experience dealing with the Brodsky team, everything from SCRIE paperwork, to falliing behind on the rent, to gas line outage (ie ripping out her kitchen wall).    Toward the end of her life the (wonderful) handyman was in her apartment every week or 2, little things like changing a light bulb that she wasn't able to do.   Suffice it to say, we put them through their paces, and they shone at every step.    I recommend. read more

This apartment building is infested with cockroaches and management keeps using the same lame exterminator. It doesn't matter how clean the apt is kept, the roaches are everywhere. This is an old building and there has to be a water leak--that's what attracts roaches even more so than food. The manager, Anna, keeps blaming residents saying they are bringing them in with bags and boxes until one resident followed a roach in the hallway of the 9th floor and it led to an area between the floor and wall. She shined a light in the gap and it was crawling with hundreds of cockroaches. A woman on the 12th floor found her baby crawling on the floor with a cockroach in his hand. This is a review for 420 W 42nd St. I'm a very nice and pleasant person, but the way the staff here treats me makes outrageous. I literally cried a few times after I interacted with them. They have strict rules about what you can and cannot do in the lengthy contract, and we don't feel free at home at this place at all. When we moved in, we hired professional movers to help us and paid the price for door to door moving. The staff wouldn't let the movers in and we ended up moving everything ourselves. This is just one example. Things like this happen all the time, which creates endless hassles. For example, they wouldn't allow sublets, so if you or your roommate has any change of plans, I don't know what you'd do. If you have a guest, they will make them feel very uncomfortable. My guests told me that they felt like second class citizen while they stayed here. I agree that the staff should be mindful of people who come into the building so to make everyone safe. But they scrutinize the guests aggressively, almost like treating a criminal, every time they enter the building. This doesn't mean that they are being responsible though. I've seen cases where they tried to stop someone from entering into the building, but the person didn't listen and just kept going, and the staff just let the person walk without intervening. As an ethnic minority, I don't feel comfortable living here. They would say things like, because you're [my ethnicity], we can't understand your spelling. Once there was a girl I don't know who lost her ID. When I entered into the building, they stopped me and asked whether I knew her because we were both [my ethnicity]. I think their problem goes beyond being rude and insensitive. Sometimes I feel like they're intentionally creating issues. They literally made up things that I didn't say, claimed I said it, and found fault with me. (they would take something that I said, and make small changes in words to totally change the meaning of what I said) I don't even know they would give me problems just because I'm posting here, but I wouldn't be bullied into staying silent. In general, I don't feel free to do what I'm entitled to do while living here, and I'm constantly afraid that they would find some way to give me trouble, and claim that I broke some rule. Overall, if you want a peace of mind at your own home after a long hard day at work, don't stay at this place, at least until they do some serious changing. read more

The Brodsky building at 12 East 86th Street (The Croydon) is infested with cockroaches. We have lived in the building for a little over year and have had at least 4 per month. Every time we complain to the building's management, they offer to send an exterminator who "patches up some holes" and hasn't made an impact. It is really unpleasant to come home to several dead cockroaches after a long weekend away. hands down the worst management company ever! every last word of this review is accurate! i could honestly write an essay about how horrible they treat people. i will say i wasn't nice to them in return. fast forward to the final straw. living with bed bugs for over 30 days. i had a horrible and traumatizing experience. i had no idea what it was for 30 days and that"s my own fault, however how it was handled once confirmed is disgraceful. currently still a tenant haven't lived in apt for roughly three months, lease expires end of month, and never once dreamed of not paying my rent. after going through multiple treatments thinking i had scabbies i saw a dermo. she took a sample of one of the bites to send to the lab and mentioned i should look foir bed bugs as well. bingo.. if you could upload pictures i would, i have them all saved i looked like i could be a drug attic. i had a horrible reaction once confirmed i lost my sh** it was the final straw. an exterminator couldn't come that day but rosco could,to confirm that it was bed bugs. like i was making it up for my pleasure. after confirmation from the dog it was bed bugs i went after safet, he thought responding 2-3 hours later was appropriate and i was over reacting, i could stay in the apt was his original response. how could he react any quicker. what any 1/2 deent human being who's managing a building would do....be sympathetic to the misery and tell me to stay in a hotel. after telling him that's what should be done he told me to send him the hotel bill. i sent him the bill for two nights and told him i would split the cost. it had nothing to do with the $ it's principal. i was told i'm lucky they're paying for the exterminator, and denied any refund for the hotel cost. keep in mind the doctor bills,the medications, creams and all the cost for every last article of your clothing to be cleaned. worst of all the mental trauma, i don;t wish the experience on safet himself. i never dreamed of asking for a penny from them, just to split two nights at a hotel. you can't make this up. i wish i could just upload all the emails we have about issues from the start. i really could just go on and on about all the horrible interactions i had with him, but it would turn into a short shorty. the building has roughly 24 tenants, so it's small....not one tenant was notified that i had a serious bed bug problem. probably the most prime example as to how much he cares about his tenants. i'm willing to bet every last dollar i have someone else in the building 100% also has or had bed bugs... they spread like wild fire and are extremly difficult to get rid of. i'm no lawyer but i actually think it's illegal not to notify at least the tenant i share a wall with but that's another story. all in i wouldn't live in any building managed by brodsky if they offered me free rent for a year. the best part is having every thing via email, and i'm the first to admit i had my fair share of issues as well, and remember "live with it" and expect nothing in return. it will be resolved though, just as soon as they decide it's important enough. you're a bad dude REALIZING YOU HAVE 30 PLUS REVIEWS AND THEY'RE ALL NEGATIVE BESIDES THE 3 FAKE ONES IS ALL THE SATISFACTION I NEED. read more

Having lived at upper west side Brodsky property for 26 years I can say without a doubt what a fine landlord the Brodsky organization is . The building is extremely well maintained and the employees are friendly and always willing to help. A personal atmosphere is present as opposed to a robotic one where greetings seem rehearsed. One star because I like our apartment - good Columbus Circle location, doorman, nice light. Getting out of the apartment without getting stuck in the elevator, however, seems to be a problem. Since we moved in, the elevators have been going through an "upgrading" process because they were getting stuck, meaning for a building of 40+ floors, there are only 2 elevators working at a time, so we need to wait as much as 10 minutes for an elevator to arrive. The worst day, I waited over 20 minutes, and finally joined my neighbors to walk 20+ flights of stairs to get out. Ok, fine, I can handle that all because we'll have new working elevators, right? Well, for the second time in two days, I've gotten stuck in the supposedly new, upgraded elevators. Stuck, as in, doors-won't-open, pressing-emergency-alarm, banging-on-doors stuck. Brodsky management has been totally unresponsive to complaints from many people in the building and they seem to think that it's fine to keep an 8 month pregnant woman suspended between elevator floors. read more

I have lived in the same apt with Brodsky for 10 years. The staff is always helpful, the building maintained. Safet our manager is always easy to communicate with as well as our super Zijah whom has been a blessing from day 1! Highly recommend. read more

I have lived in my building for six years and have only wonderful things to say about the management at Brodsky. Every time I have an issue, concern, or question, I've received prompt and considerate help. Jimmy Chen is especially great to work with. Whenever I've needed help - whether it be lease renewal paperwork or even how to sublet my apartment, he has taken the time to call me back and go through everything with me - this was really kind considering it often involved several emails and phone calls. I have never had a management company give such great customer service, and I feel like they really care about their tenants. Virginia LeLan and Teena Mau are also super helpful and have great response times with email whenever I've had a question or needed something repaired or replaced in my apt. read more

Review is for the towers at 59th and Columbus Pros: beautiful buildings / the units are generally very nice and spacious / some have truly spectacular views Cons: unfortunately, cons carry the day for the Brodsky Group. As nice as the buildings are, the general aesthetics do not legitimize the inevitable hassle that comes with dealing with the management company. In a city full of awful landlords, Brodsky finds itself right at home. Unreceptive, shoot-first, ask questions later types - save yourself the headache (and the legal bills) - live elsewhere.
