So far my experience with Caliber Collision has been very impressive. I've been to both the Carlsbad and the San Marcos locations and have been extremely impressed by the front desk staff....I'm talking "5 stars." They are so professional and friendly and really make you feel welcome. My estimator Mike at he San Marcos location was awesome as well. Very informed and friendly. I got into an accident and USAA recommend Caliber. My car had a lot of damage and took a lot longer than expected. Chip was amazing. He called me to keep me updated every few days. Even fixed an exhaust problem that was unrelated to my accident because it was taking so long to get all the parts in. Their professionalism was spot on and the work was fantastic. It looked like a brand new car. I'm extremely satisfied!! Hopefully I won't need a collision center again but if I do Caliber will be my only choice. read more

Getting hit in the rear end doesn't get better than this! My faith in humanity has been restored. My new car got hit while innocently sitting in a parking lot. Fortunately, the person that hit me was forthright and told me what happened; he also gave me all of his insurance information when he could have easily left and not said a word. Great repair and customer service! I had the unfortunate impact with a dump truck (his fault) and needless to say, my vehicle lost. Although the damage wasn't too bad (thank God), I had my vehicle repaired at Caliber. The job was performed as they estimated and done beautifully. I had a rental car too from Enterprise and instead of having to return the car to Enterprise and getting a ride to Caliber, they let me return the car there and they took care of the rest. Had a good experience with previous management but.... I recently used Caliber San Marcos for an insurance claim, someone rear ended my truck, and the customer service was pretty bad under the current management. I witnessed the call taker talk negatively about a person on hold to another employee, there were employees joking and using profane language in a back room, very poor communication with me about my vehicle and my vehicle was given back to me dirty and incomplete. I had loose fasteners holding body parts on and emblems that hadn't been attached. I had enough of them so I finished it myself. I'm hoping mine was an isolated experience and if you use them you have better luck but I'm giving one star due to what happened. read more

Unfortunately this place was a no go for me . A few years I came back when I had State Farm . This place had quoted me for 1500 for my damages and when I took it to my adjuster she quoted me for 3200 , they where way off . this time when I went in for my estimate due to a car hitting the front of my car , it was just bad . We kept getting calls from them to drop of my car . I decided to not do my repairs with them and go with a family member for the repairs.Later on we noticed that they had missed some damage on my window . There's a black piece that connects to the windshield and the hood of the car . That piece was damaged as well . We called them so they could add it to the estimate . Biggest mistake ever . Without even looking at it Leslie from caliber collision decided to call the adjuster and tell them it was not from the damage to my car...But wait she never looked at the car and it was her fault she missed the damage, how could she make that assumption? I called caliber collision where I talked to Alma and again it was just bad . I asked them why did they call the adjuster without even looking at my car and let him know that the damage was not related . My car had never been hit from that side and it made sense it was from the impact . When the driver slammed into my car it was almost head on and it pushed the hood of my car up causing pressure on the black piece and my windshield causing it to crack . She kept saying it was damage from a rock. All I was thinking was , there was $6000 worth of damage to the front of the car and the impact didn't cause that ? But a small rocks that probably weighs less than a pound managed to crack the inside of the plastic connecting the windshield and the hood ? Alma also kept stating "would you have brought it to me I would have fixed it but now it's your job to convince the adjuster to come look at it " . Yeah real difficult when she just told him it was not related and insurance will look for whatever reason not to pay. Alma said she would do me the favor of calling the adjuster and telling him to send someone to look at it . She called me later on to say she had indeed called the adjuster and mentioned AGAIN that the damage was unrelated , is she freaking kidding ? I finally got fed up and took my car into a professional glass replacement company where they specialize in auto damage but they only do glass . He took a look at my car and came back out with a pen going trough the crack of my windshield, he said he couldn't find a source of impact and there was no chips and no pockets in the windshield. Meaning a rock never hit it and it was caused due to the impact of the car accident . I was extremely furious because I had already known that and now a stranger is telling me what obviously makes sense. I called Alma back to tell her what the person had told me and all she says was ""YAYYYYY!!!! I'm so glad it wasn't a rock" is she dumb !? Would she have looked at the car she would have seen the same thing but she knew that ! this place is not very professional if you decide not to get your repairs with them. In the pictures I attached . It's the damage to the car . The hood was pushed up due to the car accident being almost head on and the black piece that connects to the windshield and hood is completely cracked causing my windshield to keep cracking . But Alma said it was due to a rock hitting the car and not the impact . My advice if you do t plan on getting repairs then don't even bother here . read more

It had quite a large crack in it and I wanted to know if I needed to get it repaired or replaced he gave me his expertise information on it and then told me he would have somebody call me back that actually replaces windshield. Customer service is lacking badly. They towed my vehicle without my authorization, Then they lied stating I gave them verbal authorization to move it. When I asked for my rear license plate back it mysteriously disappeared from the cart containing all the auto parts that were disassembled from the vehicle. After looking for for more then an hour and a half it then mysterious appeared coming from another building. Oddly enough, it was with one of the same guys who was helping at least four of us searching for it the whole time. I believe he realized I was not leaving without it. Possibly he overheard my phone conversation to my wife stating I was going to report the license plate stolen. It also happened to be a valid license plate with current registration DMV stickers on it. I will never take another vehicle to any caliber collision business again. read more

I should've read the bad reviews and given them the attention they deserve. It's a long read but believe me it will make up your mind in regards to ever taking your vehicle here. The have been repairing my vehicle for over 3 weeks now. My service advisor Leslie won't even call me anymore or give me updates on the status of my vehicle after she completely mislead me and gave me the wrong timelines. Alma the manager of this location was very nice and helpful at the beginning but now she is the one who does the calls and tells me that my vehicle is still being repaired. This place has no organizational skills what so ever my car was assembled and parts were missing almost as if a kid was putting it together and realized "hmmm I think there is a light that's supposed to be there" after my vehicle has been "being assembled" by one of their best technicians, this genius didn't check my air conditioner prior to working on my vehicle, so who do I get a call from? You're right the manager asking me if my A/C worked prior to getting there. Any shop that receives a vehicle does a full walkthrough and inspection so situations like this can be avoided but again that's not caliber collision in San Marcos. Needles to say they told the insurance the wrong completion date. I'm out of a vehicle that I use for work, a rental and all alma offered to do was fill up my gas tank with regular or premium gasoline but the kicker is my truck is a diesel fuel truck. So again is this the people you want handling your vehicle? It's too sad that you can't go any higher than this in regards to complaints but since zero stars is not an option well there's my one star for them. read more

This was my second experience taking my cars into Caliber. I was hit on the freeway and slammed into a wall in my Honda Pilot. Although the damage was not extensive, the car was deemed a total loss. The employees at Caliber rushed to get my damage assessed and car processed quickly so the insurance could pay me out. When I went in to gather my belongings out of the car, I had my 3 small kids with me. The manager took my kids and distracted them and kept them occupied so I could take care of things. She was so sweet! The entire staff was super helpful and went above and beyond the entire way! I am so appreciative of this team who really does care about the people that walk through their doors. First I would like to say that Jay did a wonderful job! My car was in and out in only one day! At first there was a confusion about my appointment but I received a call from Raymond (site manager) who arranged for me to keep my original appointment which was great! He was extremely nice and friendly and I wasn't expecting my experience to be so positive. It was a larger dollar estimate than I was expecting and he gave me some tips and tricks. I have been a customer of Caliber Collision in San Marcos for many years. The replaced the door on my Camaro 10 years ago when a neighbor backed into it, and it still looks perfect today. They performed the difficult task of removing and installing a new sail on the Camaro T-top, when the original factory glue seeped through the fiberglass and bubbled under the paint. And last month, a car backed into the passenger door on our Hyundai while it was parked at a mall, and Caliber came to our rescue again, and repaired the damage perfectly. My Newer Dodge Mini Van was hit hard and this is a great vehicle for grandchildren and making memories , we love our car. I was set back about 5 months and my nice car looked awful after the accident . Today , I picked up my Dodge Mini Van from Caliber and it looked sparkling, brand new ! I was beaming ! After a fender-bender in July we took my car to Caliber Collision in San Marcos. Jay looked at the damage and gave me an estimate. He said there could be possibly more damage that they wouldn't see till the front bumper was pulled off that could affect the estimate. To my surprise, he called me a day later to say that there wasn't additional damage, and the estimate was good. They repaired the car, including some extra repair of scrapes and dings that I asked them to do at my expense. Jay kept me updated on the repairs, so I didn't have to guess when the car would be finished. My car is 14 years old, and metallic silver. I know from previous experience that it can be hard to match metallic paint, especially when the car is so old. But, even knowing where they painted, I can't tell where the old paint left off and the new paint began! Everyone at Caliber was polite, efficient, and friendly, from the young lady at the front desk, to Ray, the Manager. I had interactions with at least 5 people there, and was given nothing but respectful, courteous service. I would definitely recommend Caliber Collision as the place to go for body work. Unfortunately, I have to give them an over all poor rating. While the CSR was a friendly guy, what actually happened in the shop is my problem... Today I have taken my car to my mechanic for routine maintenance and he's uncovered more problems than just the basics; however, the only problem that I am blaming on Caliber is the failure to notice that my accident had damaged my CV shaft. My mechanic is very confident that it had to occur during my accident, and he said given the time frame from my accident to today, that it would explain the excess of grease that has been flung all about the underneath and eroded my brakes. I'm not going to give them a one star because I know that sometimes it's difficult to catch the details of damage, but because this is an expensive repair that I'm paying for out-of-pocket I'm keeping the rating low at 2 stars. First let me start by saying " T "(Tegh) made my experience with Caliber Collision a million times better. He provided me with awesome customer service and understood that it was my first time going through a vehicle repair. I felt that he valued my time as a customer. He went above and beyond by making time between customers to help me with the estimate of my vehicle. I am truly thankful and appreciate his hard work. Others should learn from him "J " because the only respond to my questions were "No, sorry I will have someone call you" the better answer would have been "let me see what I can do for you." I was ready to write a TERRIBLE REVIEW about my visit to the shop this morning at 7:30am. I understand that they are busy and communication between Caliber and the car insurance needs work but its not the customers fault. I have to agree with another review.... one star is more than deserved. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS REPAIR SHOP TO ANYONE. From the moment our car was dropped off at the San Marcos location this has been the WORSE EXPERIENCE with an auto body repair shop. Our car was taken to the San Marcos location (as the insurance company recommended this shop).....over a week went by before we received a call regarding an estimate of the amount of damage. When the rep finally called to give the estimate (over $11K) and that the car would be totaled... I advised rep I think I would like a second opinion - rep then told me that I would have to pay to put the car back together.....talked to insurance company and was advised the car was "totaled" - then several days later a different shop rep called to advise there was a mistake in the estimate (a line item was duplicated for labor) with an apology and that he thought the repairs could be completed, under the value of the car (so it appeared it was not "totaled")... then received a call from another rep the next day that the case was reassigned to him and the repairs could be made, parts were being ordered. The following day rep called back to say when the car was up on the lift there was more damaged than initially observed. The car is back in the "totaled" status due to a bent frame. The car had been at the shop a total of 16 days at this point. I would think if the frame was bent this should have been caught on the first inspection/estimate. The amount of time and stress this has caused - I would NEVER recommend this repair shop to anyone....and after reading several other reviews cannot believe this repair shop is on my insurance "preferred list". I cannot remember that last time I received such POOR customer service anywhere.... read more

After a hit and run that destroyed the side of my car, USAA recommended Caliber Collision. The customer service at Caliber was beyond fantastic. They made scheduling easy and when Enterprise was running 45 minutes late for a pick up, Caliber generously offered me a ride. Matt called every couple of days to keep me updated about their progress, and they finished a week ahead of schedule. My car looks brand new -- the previously damaged side of my car is gorgeous and they detailed the interior and exterior on top of everything. I feel like I have a brand new car. After an unfortunate rear ending I sent my car to Caliber Collision through 21st century insurance because they were one of 21st century's preferred auto body shops and they had great reviews. I figured if I used one my insurances preferred body shops I would be able to get it repaired properly and quickly! Boy was I wrong. They held my car for over a week before even taking a look at it. I understand they may have been behind but nobody even bothered calling me to give me any updates. I had to constantly call them to figure out what was going on. FINALLY after a week of it just sitting there they called me to let me know that they would be using " used" auto parts to fix my bumper and tail lights. In addition to not looking at my car for a week they also busted my custom tail lights which werent even damaged in the accident but now must be replaced as well as an out of pocket expense.As a person who LOVES their car and has put money into modifiing it- I was disgusted! I immediately had my car towed to Nissan itself to get properly fixed where they had it looked at within 48 hours. If you're someone who isn't truly attached to your car or if your not going through the insurance company maybe Caliber Collision is for you. But my experience was a disaster and I will NEVER make that mistake again. The week wait it took to get an estimate on my car from Caliber Collision screwed me during the holiday season. I know have to wait an extra two- three weeks to get it done because of it. read more

DO NOT USE!!!! Caliber Collision is completely unprofessional and has the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with in my life. The insurance company sent me here and I WILL NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. I was told to bring my car into the shop for an estimate so I did ( I already had an estimate from two other shops telling me my car was not safe to drive over 40 miles an hour due alignment issues). Jay Williams was writing the estimate for my car. I was told my appointment was for 9:00 am I got there at 9 and he began to help me 5 mins later. I told him that I already had two quotes says the vehicle was not safe to drive over 40 miles an hour. He did not care what I had to say and did not care to answer any of my questions. All I got was I am double booked I will email you an estimate later today. I think he thought it was okay to neglect me as a customer because I am only an 18 year old girl. Later that day my insurance agent called and said we are going to set up a rental car now because the other places said it wasn't safe to drive. I set up an appointment on Monday to drop off my car (on Thursday) that was the earliest they could offer me. I told them that I was going to get the rental car now because my job requires me to commute on the freeway and the lady on the phone for caliber said its fine as long as insurance is covering it and i said they were. Long story short I take the car in that Monday afternoon and I am leaving it with Jay and he says let me get you into a rental and I said no worries I already had one. He became very angry when I told him this and the anger in his voice made me feel extremely disrespected. He said " YOU CAME HERE FOR MY OPINION AND IGNORE IT, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN LEAVE I DON'T NEED YOUR BUSINESS ANYWAYS." He continue to angry say things to me in a loud tone as I walked out the door ignoring him. All in all he was more concerned with his shops cycle time then my safety he was ok with me driving in a vehicle which was not safe. ALL IN ALL A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND I LEFT CRYING BECAUSE I FELT I HAD NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY IN A PLACE OF BUSINESS. This place was recommended by AAA, my insurance carrier. The work from a pretty minor scrape was estimated to take four to six days. I started checking on it in about four days and was always told they were about to call me. Everything seemed to be running smoothly and on schedule. I was told it would be ready one week after I brought it in or at the latest the next day. The day before I was to pick it up, I was then told that THEY had scratched the passenger front door, and it needed to be repainted all over again. They paid for a rental car, as we needed the car back, which was fine. We finally got my car back nine days after bringing it in, but the first time I had a passenger a couple days later, we realize that the door that they had then repaired twice couldn't be opened from the inside! Back we went today to have them fix it, now two weeks after the initial drop off for the work to be done. If anything happens in the future, I would probably try a different company. read more

I took my car here upon the recommendation of my insurance company after I was backed into in a parking lot. From the minute I got there, I was treated with courtesy, The technician examined the damage and discussed the procedure. The receptionist phoned for a rental car company to come get me and I was delivered to the rental car company just down the street. My technician called me every few days to give me an update on what was going on with my car. When he was out on vacation, Guy took over and he also was so very kind and helpful. He kept me totally informed as to the anticipated day the car would be ready and it was ready exactly when he said it would be. When I dropped off my rental car, I was driven back to Caliber and met by Guy and told they were finishing up cleaning and waxing my car. When it was ready, Guy escorted me outside to look at it to be sure it met my expectations. It was like looking at a brand new car! Even two scratches that were there and not part of the accident damage were removed and the car was clean and shiny and ready to go. Everyone I came into contact with at Caliber was kind, helpful, and courteous. The work done on my car is flawless and perfect. I am a raving fan of this company.
