I'm really grateful I found Mission Auto Repair. I originally came across them when my former mechanic's prices had gone up beyond what I could reasonably afford. I usually handle my own oil changes myself, but at the time I didn't have my tools with me, so I decided to bring my vehicle here instead -- and I'm glad I did. Richard (owner) gave me a quote and helped me schedule the oil change. During that oil change, Cole (one of the mechanics) noticed that my shocks were leaking, which was causing uneven tire wear. I truly appreciated his keen eye and honesty in pointing it out. Because of his heads-up, I went to the Jeep dealership and was able to get the shocks replaced under warranty -- something I likely would have missed until it was too late and no longer covered. More recently, I returned to have my start/stop battery replaced to clear a caution light, and once again the experience was smooth and professional. Brought in my older car form Richard to work on and he replaced the water pump and power steering. I was still having issues with overheating even after the water pump being replaced and to me he seemed to just not care enough to correctly diagnose the issue excuse being it was a 2002 car and he did not want to spend the proper time with it. He just wanted to turn and burn simple fixes. When I brought it back in all he did was tighten the hose and spray it with blue devil head gasket stop leak. Well he did not adjust the correct tension on the drive belt causing the belt to slip on the water pump pulley which caused the engine to overheat because the pump was not running properly. With the belt not tensioned correctly it then caused the belt to fail completely shutting down the power steering pump to fail which made it impossible to steer the car which luckily was not on the highway at the time when it failed. If you didn't want To work on the car and give It the time it deserved as a paying customer You should have just told me outright and I'd have found a different mechanic. This was all after he replaced the water pump and belt tensioner and he swore there was no leak or issues well clearly there was as the belt snapped and the car is undrivable now. If you watch this video you sent me with the engine running you can see that the belt tensioner which is in the middle is not lined up with pulley next to it the groves of the pulley are off center of each other. No wonder the belt failed. He also told me I needed a new pcm to turn the check engine light off so I paid $300 for a new one and installed it myself For it not to fix the light being on at all, I had to take it to someone else and pay another &400 to fix it. I would not recommend bringing my car to this place as they simply do not care to correctly Diagnose the issue, it's a turn and burn mechanic shop. read more

I was selling my BRZ and the buyer wanted this place to check it out. the guy was very unprofessional and was literally laughing in face telling me I was F**cked. The frame was messed up and the alignm couldn't be fixed. not sure how he got certified but I took the car to a mom and pop shop in Orange County up north. they did the alignment and the car ran like a champ. They told me there were no damages to the frames or anything or the sor. The I found another buyer who brought her mechanic grandpa and sold it for $15k instead of the initial $12k the other buyer offered. People should get a second opinion or estimate if they plan to come here. Luckily I met this terrible guy, I found a good alignment shop as well as making a better profit. Based on all the 5 star reviews we were confident this was the best place for him to bring his car to. We were not disappointed in the least! Our son said the staff was so nice to deal with and excellent communication. They knew he had to wait for the car since he lives about 30 min away so they got the job done quickly. We were excited to try mission auto after a rave review from my neighbor, now he feels bad for the referral. All around bad deal, from the guy telling us we had to call in a couple weeks to make an appointment, which is why we called, to stripping the spark plug and saying it's now undriveable. He diagnosed a compression problem and didn't want to fix it. But luckily there's a number of mechanics that do. He takes a lot of time without doing much and in my case, made it worst. Waited the month to get the rv into the shop, they kept it two weeks (during which time I had to pay for a hotel) finally heard from them and they said it was going to be looked at the next day - (what were they doing the last two weeks with it?) at the end of the next day they called to tell me they performed only the diagnostics I had already done at their direction and refused to do any more with it and could not provide any answers. Two weeks, $1200 in hotel charges, no communication while they had it and no resolution. They moved it out to the street and told me to come get it. I came here a couple of years ago because shield tray under the engine was loose and scraping the ground. I took it in and they didn't charge me to remove it. I remembered that and I took my Acura in this week for a timing belt. I had just received an estimate from the Acura dealer after a recall that I needed a timing belt and a seal too. After the dealer put the engine back together they suggested a timing belt and engine seal. Mission Auto repair questioned why the dealer didnt suggest to add the parts since the labor is already done. Mission Auto discovered there really was no oil leak. They did services the dealer wouldn't include like the throttle body which they remove anyway. You can tell, this shop cares more about you and what is necessary without overcharging or suggesting unneeded services. I will definitely be a repeat. They were about $1000 less plus replaced spark plugs and cleaned throttle body while they were in there. Since I didnt need the seal it was closer to a $2,000 savings! What a deal. I knew this place was good since they have 4.8. stars. Owner is a super nice guy. read more

When we caught our old mechanic ripping us off, we had to find another place and I tried Mission Auto Repair based on the reviews. We took my wife's car in for some work and it went well. I got a good feeling about the experience. Fast forward to today, and I call them and tell them I'm pretty sure I need a new starter. I was recommended here by Campingworld for a brake inspection since they were not able to service my Winnebago. I could feel some issues with the brakes/ rotors and heading on a long trip soon. I asked Rich to have a look. He scheduled me in a week ( not long) confirmed my suspicions. Replaced my rotors/pads and suggested the front shocks. He was very honest on what will last a little longer and what should be replaced. I didn't want to wait and fix it later so i chose to do it all at once. OH MY GOSH!!! she drives so nice it's like a new car (i know it's a motor home) Not knowing pricing I did check with my RV forum to see if this is my new guy or not. Well as it turns out for the parts he used most people on the forum were impressed and the price was on the lower end of everyone's estimates. and I say most people because i did get a lot of DIY'ers NO THANK YOU some things i just don't want to do. I think of this place EVERY time I drive my car. Why? My steering wheel is now crooked because of this shop. It wasn't before coming here, but even after TWO alignments... still askew. Long story short- I raised my suspension and added camber arms in the back. I adjusted the camber via a tape measure to try match both sides. Front was fine. No cockeyed steering wheel, just toe was off. I made an appointment, came in, waited 3 1/2 hours for the first alignment. Richard said they didn't bother adjusting the rear camber because I got it close enough. (Close enough? I came for an alignment!) So toe is fine in rear, camber -1.7 one corner -1.1 the other. I was told the front had to be adjusted because it was pointing to the right. Immediately after leaving I realized the car goes straight but the steering wheel was to the left. Called Richard, made another appointment. Second alignment was free of charge (as it should be.) 2 hours later (alignments don't usually take so long) I got my car and was on my way. NOW- the steering wheel still points to the left, and if I let go the car will immediately drift to the right. I feel if you can't get it right the second time, i'm not going to bother with a third attempt. You guys test drive after alignments, how was this ignored? Was looking forward to having a shop I could go to when there's a job I can't do on my own. Guess i'll have to keep looking for one. Edit- for anyone wondering. Wheels are balanced. All tires at same pressure. Trust me, I checked everything to try avoid this review. read more

I don't make the time to write a review unless I am thoroughly impressed or touched by a service. Mission Auto Repair is very deserving of my honest review. In short: Honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, efficiency, above-and-beyond service and kindness, down-to-earth, earnest. Long story: My car would not start on a Friday afternoon right before the Christmas holiday, and after 2 calls to triple A to figure out the problem, we ruled out the battery being the issue. After several phone calls to auto repair shops who could not fit me in, I called Mission Auto. The receptionist was the first kind voice I heard, eager to get me help. She got Richard (the owner, I assume) on the phone, who was had a practical, up front communication style. He listened to my problems and cut to the chase of possible issues. I got my car towed to the shop, and he immediately ushered me in, and had his mechanics looking at my car right away. Over the course of over an hour, several mechanics looked into all the possible causes of my car not starting. Every 5-10 minutes or so, Richard would find me and give me an concise update. After an hour of tinkering, they finally deduced that my broken key was very likely the issue - the transformer had fallen out, so my car was not reading the key. Richard arranged for a local locksmith to quickly come make me another key and after a long ordeal, my car was able to start with my newly programmed key. When I asked Richard for the cost of the work (over an hour of him mechanics working on my car), he graciously said - nothing, this is a holiday gift to me .... I am more than impressed by the swiftness, thoroughness, integrity and refined customer service that Richard and his team exhibited. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant, helpful, and earnest. They are the kind of people that I would trust to take care of me with my best interest in mind. They are the kind of people that I would happily give my business to, and eagerly encourage others to do the same. read more

This review is a couple of weeks late but still well deserved! I took my daughter's car here for a quick check up before she was to drive out to Palm Springs without any adults with her. Richard checked us in and we came back later to pick up. Upon our return I went into the office to pay (hadn't discussed pricing prior) and they said no charge! Wait what? I said thank you but it's ok to charge us even though everything checked out, etc. He insisted, no charge and then told my daughter the best way to get to Palm Springs without stressing the car further in the 110 degree heat she was going to encounter :-) Richard is a gem and we will be back when our cars need repair! read more
