I'm not big on writing reviews but in this situation I want to make sure that NO ONE ever goes through the pain I've gone through with Caliber. If this review helps just one person then I'm happy. First of all, they don't reach out to you.... YOU have to reach out to them to find out what's going on with your car. It took them 3 weeks to deal with the insurance and then said my car was a total loss which was not the truth. They added extra damage to the front of my car saying it was because of the accident when I had proof from the other car that we never touched them in that area. For Caliber its about a quick buck -- what cars can they fix quickly to make the most money and junk the rest. DON"T TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! TRUST ME! Instead take your car to Tag Auto Collision - they are honest and reliable. The backstory -- I brought my car to Caliber Collision because it was the 'preferred' auto body shop of Horace Mann - 1st wrong decision. They came back with a quote for around $2000.00. I thought we were good until I had to call them to find out that they submitted a new quote for around $5700.00 and said my car would be a total loss. I was put in a position to buy back my car after they turned it into a salvage only to find out from another auto body shop that the radiator they originally quoted didn't need to be replaced among other things. Tag fixed it for HALF the price. I don't trust Caliber and after hearing from others on Yelp i wish I'd gone with my first instinct to go somewhere else not to mention we did a Google search and found out that Caliber Collision settled a case for $5.8 million for car repair fraud. I have had a terrible experience with this company and did not even have my car repaired by them. They were recommended by my car insurance company to repair a damaged bumper. I could not talk to a representative during my first visit and had to give my claim number to make an appointment for the next day. After choosing a better fit for us I called and cancelled the appointment and even emailed to confirm the cancellation. Then I got called the next day by my insurance company because Caliber was claiming to be taking care of my claim. Luckily my insurance company was checking in with me since I had already told them I was going with the other. In short, they are unorganized, unprofessional and almost caused a delay in the already tedious process of getting the car fixed after a hit-and-run. One star is one too many. read more

I usually don't go out of my way to write these reviews, but my experience with Caliber Collision was EXCEPTIONAL! My worst fear living in Southern California came true when I was involved in a hit-and-run, most likely with an uninsured motorist. I thought it would be a headache dealing with the insurance company and dealing with a repair shop. That's when Matt stepped in to help me out. The level of professionalism this guy projected goes above and beyond. He made everything convenient for me. Matt situated me not only with my insurance company, but also with a rental car at a local Enterprise. My car isn't anything worth bragging about it's a 2003 model. It's still in the shop and I'm sure I'll be pleased with whatever shape it comes in, when the repairs are done. As of now my car is due way ahead of what I anticipated. Matt is definitely one of those employees that leave me with a good feeling that the work I've asked him to do is going to get done right, based on his sheer work ethic alone. I don't go around hoping for people to get involved in random car accidents, but if you do I hope you're lucky enough to get Matt to handle your auto-body repairs. If I could give 10 stars to the crew at Caliber I certainly would! My teenager crashed my car, Met Life Auto recommended Caliber. They took care of having my car towed to their downtown shop, and let me know that they were backed up due to the weekend of rain (San Diego drivers, booooo). They offered to have my baby towed up to the San Marcos shop. Once there Mark and his team took awesome care of me and my car. They were in constant contact. There were a few hiccups with the repairs so it did take longer than I expected; however, their professionalism and care made the experience smooth, and the extended repair time was no biggie. Had bad vibe from this place right off the bat. Brought my car in for repair. As soon as I spoke to guy in the front it seemed like he didn't want to repair my car. Spoke negatively about progressive insurance, who was other party's insurance that was paying for my repair. I told him I know my rights and I can bring my car anywhere. Had good experience at other caliber in OC but this one is not the same. Picked up my car today and there is clear coat pealing from an area they didn't even repair and I now have a broken fog light. They strategically put fog light in on side of front bumper that had some pre-existing scratches but I did NOT have a broken fog light. IM just shocked at how this place has good reviews! They were fantastic! I dropped my car off at the Oceanside location, but they towed it for free to San Marcos. The manager is awesome! He called me everyday to give me updates on my car. They finished 2 days before schedule. Hopefully, I won't back into a pole again, but if I do I know who to go to! it's hard to even give it a star. Worst service we've got. walked in, a team member went out of his office to grab a candy, didnt acknowledge us or asked if we had been helped. Finally, another man went out and said he'd call the person in charge of our insurance(USAA)...Low and behold, the rep. talked to my husband for only 3 minutes, said he is on lunch and will give us a quote when he comes back from lunch, and stressed that we came late for our appointment eventhough it's not our fault because the insurance told us to go to the other branch in esco. Also, Ulyssis, the rep in esco called this branch to tell them that we were sent to the wrong collision place, and said we are coming over, and this branch said it is fine..... Hubby explained to him that we'd appreciate a quote so we could compare it with toyota. The rep jaz nonchalantly said "that aint happening because im on lunch right now. i can send you the quote later today." Hubby and I just walked out after hearing those words.....At any rate, there were other options for treating us better but he didnt bother to think for solutions, because apparently "he is on lunch". read more

This place is a joke. I went in today to get an estimate on repainting the hood and top of the fender flares of my truck. During the estimate the lady tried to tell me that the fender flares needed to be repainted completely to be able to match the hood. I found that kind of funny since Toyota and Tag collision repair both said they just needed about 6 inches down to be able to match the paint. After I go back in side she calls another guy out to look at the truck. This moron starts looking at the doors of the truck and then comes and ask me if the truck has been repainted. I said no it's from the factory then he continued to tell me the paint on the doors and fenders don't match. The lady now walks in after looking at my truck for about 10 minutes and tells me it's going to be about 25-30 minutes for an estimate. Great must be a large estimate . Now sitting in their waiting room was kind if fun. I got to hear the employees running there mouth to customers and all I heard was let's BS this person and make more money. Anyway so finally she comes back with my quote. She hands me the quote and smiles and says it's around $1800 and 1 penny hehe. Where's the customer service. Could she maybe have sat down and explained why it would be $1800 and 1 penny. Guess not. So after leaving I compared my estimate from Tag( who has a 5 Star rating) and caliber collision. So my truck has some minor body work that could be repaired and keep in mind I only wanted and specifically told the lady I just wanted a repainted on the hood and top fenders. Here are the totals Body work: Tag 5.2 hours at $46/hr = 239.20 Caliber 14.9 hours at $54/hr = 804.60 How does body work labor go up. Maybe you should replace to slow guy to someone who can do the work a little faster. Paint Tag 8 hours = $368.00 Caliber 10.9 = $588.60 Plus they tried to add to my estimate repainting the doors = $687.60 And $216 to repair my fender flares which there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Total estimate Tag $930.12 Caliber $1868.and 1 penny Save your self the time and money and go somewhere else. I know I wasted my time and will never get the 45 minutes this place wasted back. read more

I can't believe that some people would rate them high on yelp! Awful experience all together with my car, a CRV Honda that was rear ended no fault! They found some other damages in the front which the car wasn't damaged at all and decided to total the car! Insane as the car was in a great condition when I brought it in at the exception of the back door being jammed! After some back and fourth I got my car out of their lot to be repaired by Tag! Very poor experience. Told my car would be ready at 5:30. Returned rental car. Paid for work and then told,'sorry we got backed up.' So stuck waiting over an hour. Not sure how good the work will be at last minute on a Friday night! Another customer was told his car would be ready in 20 minutes.
