I had a similarly negative interaction with another representative from this company about a year ago. It might be a coincidence, but based on my experience, it feels like dismissiveness and hostility toward potential clients is a feature--not a bug--of their customer service culture. Ashley very patiently explained every little thing to me (often more than once), was available via multiple modes of contact (many times late at night via text), and, I firmly believe, had my best interest at heart. After talking to Dan and Siobhan I found out it would be SO much easier than I imagined. Dan and Siobhan met with me and were incredibly generous with their time even though they knew I wouldn't be ready to apply for a year at least. They gave me excellent advice, answered my questions, gave me worksheets and information, and pointed me to local tax credit programs I didn't find in my own research (like the Portland Mortgage Credit Certificate). I learned that they even teach a home-buying class in their spare time. In short, I am super relieved and very glad I contacted these folks. It is incredible how fast he works while still finding any possible options or angles that might benefit us. On our most recent purchase we had not been planning to move but found "our dream house". It's common knowledge that splitting up mortgage payments into twice monthly allows one to pay off a mortgage quicker, as it hits more of the principle and ends up being 13 months of payments by the end of the year. Also and simply - it eases the burden of the first of the month my allowing it to be spread out through the paychecks. Guild refuse. Apparently, according to customer service reps, the stakeholders / investors (read : bosses) refuse even though it's been requested by many in the company and customers request it all the time. There is no reason for this other than greed. The folks at the top want to make more money at the expense of those who have a loan w them. I call bullsh*t. We don't need more greed in the world right now, we need people who willingly do the right thing because it's helpful and kind. Guild - do the right thing. Quit being greedy. Be cool.
