I've been/was climbing for 7 years and have a good amount of belaying experience. Further, the routes are not very inclusive in terms of height at higher V levels, and do not contain as much variety. The lead/top rope walls are extremely short and barely qualify, around 15m tall. You would be better off going to Sender One in Westwood, that has a BIG variety of problems from competition to fun dynamic routes, finger strength heavy, slabs, and more (excuse my horrible description). The test was unnecessarily difficult in the sense that they need you to "describe" the knot as some "parallel lines" rather than acknowledging being able to tie it properly, due to some language barriers which prevented me from describing it properly. They only accept the "PBUS" belaying during the test, and disregards what they call the "Yosemite belaying method," which they allegedly only use outdoors?? They do not specify beforehand what sort of belaying method they wanted, and provided little information as to why when asked "we just do it that way". It is also odd because a more experienced employee has and had accepted the other format. Inconsistent. I have also been able to get the belaying license the first time round (2 years ago) using the "Yosemite belaying method." This method is the most widespread in Asia, with all belayers (coaches, climbers/friends) alike uses it. They do have a kilter board?, which can be interesting as you have access to an unlimited amount of routes which I don't see often in other gyms. There's some sort of small gym upstairs with weights, cardio equipment, and space for recovery which is convenient and comfortable to use. Bathrooms are always clean and spacious which is nice.

There are some spots reserved for Rockreation, but it wasn't clear whether it was staff or anyone could use it. Upon walking in, the staff welcomed me and directed me to waivers - the usual. Afterwards, there wasn't much of an introduction, though I wish there was. I started bouldering on one of the walls until I felt uncomfortable... it was in fact a little higher than normal. Turns out, that one is for ropes! On the topic of ropes, there are many options to climb with ropes. I navigated to bouldering, since that was my preference. The grades are a little different with some translation into V#. Pros of this? You feel less discouraged by climbs that may be hard while respecting ones that may look easy. Cons? The tags were super hard to find! Where they the small circles? The tape? There was a giant boulder in the middle of the bouldering section that was also fairly stacked with holds but not really set. Overall, I have to admit that I was underwhelmed with the bouldering options, and it is definitely one of the smaller bouldering gyms that I've been to. They do have a nice upstairs workout area, though!

My family and I came to California from Chicago for vacation. I have 3 daughters, 11,9 and 7 and I…read morewas looking for someone to take us climbing/hiking. After a lot of digging around I found onrope. Prior to the trip I arranged 2 days of activities with Walter: Day one, was a 6 hour hike and climb in Malibu Creek State Park, the Day 2 was a 2-3 hour rock climb and rapell at Point Dunne. Walter was incredible on the phone. Our family is active but has limited experience in rock climbing. I told Water what I was looking to accomplish and he recommended both trips and said it would be perfect. From our conversations, I felt more than comfortable leaving it in his hands. Now that the the trip is wrapping up, I can say it was, without a doubt, the 2 best days we had in California. The trips were beautiful and challenging, but spending time and getting to know Walter was just as enjoyable. The 6 hour day one, started with a hike and then a low angle horizontal climb over water (harnessed in). All my girls LOVED that and were able to make it, thanks to Walter. After some more hiking and scrambling over rocks, we were lead to a climb with four levels of difficulty. Walter was patient, careful, genuine, and spent time helping all of us climb. Everyone climbed with my 11 year old taking one of the harder routes of the day to the top. My middle daughter climbed to the top of one of the runs, and my 6-year old made it about 1/2 way. Very cool to see. 2 days later we met at Point Dunne where we rappelled over 100 feet. Point Dunne was breathtaking. A cliff sitting right on the beach and overlooking the ocean. We all made the rappel down and 2 of us climbed up. Again, this was an incredible day. If you are thinking of climbing or hiking or rappelling and looking for someone, beginner to experienced, I strongly recommend onRope. Walter and his crew are truly remarkable. I feel so strongly about onRope, that if anyone has any questions, you can personally contact me at 773 562 5133.

My very first time I am doing Hot Yoga. I've tried many fitness studios; CrossFit, pilates, Yoga,…read moreBarry's Bootcamp, circuit training, beach workout, etc. Hot Yoga is a lot more challenging than any other workout I've done. The heat in the room makes your body sweat right away, and you burn so many calories. ProTip: Set up your mat near the door; it makes the heat a little more bearable. The studio is clean and aesthetic, but I wish their customer service improved. They run a Facebook ad advertising a free trial. From just looking at the ad, it needed to be clarified if the free week starts on the same day you signed up or later when you start coming. When I arrived at the studio the first time, they said my free week is expired, but I explained Ive never been there before and that this was my first time. I had to wait until after the session to speak to the manager to sort it out. They DO NOT provide a mat or towel. You can bring your own or rent it from them; it's $2 to rent a towel and $8 to rent a Yoga mat. The women's bathroom has showers, but they do not offer bath towels. Bring your own if you plan to get ready to work after the workout. If you are looking for a fitness studio where you can also build a community, it isn't the right place. People don't talk to each other here, they keep to themselves, and some are snobby; it's LA, so I shouldn't be surprised. People here come to work out and leave; they are not here to root for you in any way. I understand that some people prefer it that way, and that's ok; to each his own. My favorite instructors were Janelle and Skylar. They lead a great flow!

I was a loyal CorePower Yoga member for nearly 10 years, attending well over 100 classes and…read morereferring friends along the way. I showed up early, followed studio etiquette, and was always respectful to staff and fellow students. That's why I was shocked to receive a call from a staff member accusing me of THEFT--months after I'd attended a class at this studio. The accusation? That I took retail items into the locker room and left empty hangers behind. I never touched any merchandise, and no one said a word to me at the time. I asked if any evidence had been reviewed--such as camera footage--but was told that "could not be disclosed." I then wrote a calm, detailed letter to CorePower's corporate office explaining the situation and asking for a proper review. Their response? A brief message stating I was permanently BANNED from all locations and that their "dismissal decisions are final." No explanation. No transparency. No accountability. Just silence. I'm not someone who creates drama. I have no reason to steal, no history of misconduct, and I take pride in being an honest, good person. What's most hurtful is how easily a long-standing, respectful member can be discarded without evidence or basic due process. I believe the yoga community deserves to know how this company treats its members behind the scenes. Yoga is supposed to be rooted in truth, compassion, and awareness. Sadly, that's not what I experienced here. I've been practicing yoga for over 20 years --and as someone who has always valued the integrity and mindfulness that yoga is meant to promote--I never imagined I'd be writing a review like this.

I…read morecame here with my daughter hoping for a relaxing afternoon of sun and pool time, and while it has potential, there were several limitations that made it less enjoyable than expected. Timing really matters here. It is best to come during off hours if you want any chance of getting a lounge chair to set your belongings down or take a break. When it is busy, seating is very limited and can get crowded quickly. The pool itself is not ideal for young children or anyone expecting a gradual entry. There is no graded or zero-depth entrance. Instead, you enter via a ladder directly into about four feet of water, with a rope separating this area from the deeper section. This setup may be fine for confident swimmers, but it felt less family-friendly than anticipated. Conversely, if you are looking to swim laps, this is not a lap pool. It is purely recreational. The changing and bathroom area is very open, and the showers offer no privacy. The shower water was also quite cold, which was not especially comfortable, particularly for kids. If you are expecting enclosed changing rooms or warm showers, this may be disappointing. Parking is public street parking only, paid at meters, which adds another layer of planning and cost. Overall, while the beach house is in a beautiful spot and can be enjoyable under the right circumstances, the lack of amenities, limited seating, and less-than-ideal pool and changing facilities make it hard to fully relax or recommend, especially for families with young children.

The maintenance staff is always friendly and say hello. The womens locker room is clean. There's rarely any towels just laying on surfaces in the locker room. I never see litter. Doesn't smell gross. Some lockers have broken hinges, but there's literally hundreds to choose from. I like the new glute and cardio equipment. I've taken a few classes- kickboxing with Steven and Robert and then the mobility pop-up. Steven is more cardio kickboxing while Robert is more about technique. I enjoy chatting with Robert. You should expand to new locations around LA. With that said, there is one area of improvement to work on. The lobby. It's outdated and needs a refresh. 1. The black and white photos in the lobby scream 1989. They need to go. Move the very cool "graffiti"style oversized poster to replace the black and white photos. It would look amazing. It's the perfect background for photo opportunities and Instagra. 2. The brass symbol sculpture needs to go. Its weird. It's broke. No need to prominently display something broken. Move the two randomly placed oversized black framed artwork on the back wall to replace the brass symbol thing. 3. The branches on the front counter with string lights look cheesy and cheap. Zack is super energenic, threw dad jokes, and would be an awesome person for regular tours (not haunted tours), and Candace helped tell half the stories. Not sure how this averaged 5-stars. I would give it 0-stars if possible. Biggest disappointment and waste of money. Our group of 10 people all felt scammed. Wasn't what we expected at all. The places we went to were just too crowded to set the mood. Most of the "facts" that were described weren't delivered well to draw us into the stories. Good information on the buildings, but all the haunting stories didn't have any emotions behind it to create the atmosphere. That coupled with the noise and crowdedness of the entire tour just took everyone completely out of it. The whole tour was missing the Mystery aspect of a haunted tour. Delivery of the stories using "factual" statements such as "EMF" and "Séances" does not make it scary, mysterious, or convincing. Not even drugs or alcohol would make it close to what you would expect (Not to say there was any of that involved). TLDR; If your not doing this for your 5 year old kids, don't waste your money or time. Additionally, the tour sent me an email asking to rate my review from 1-5 stars. If you pick anything below 5-stars you get sent to a fake reviewing site that doesn't allow you to submit; Clicking 5-stars sends you to this Yelp page. That's just terrible. https://pro.peek.com/reviews/sample/5907ae6893d2da304f00005b/1
