We have never done a similar tour but as our friends from AZ were looking for a true Hollywood experience, we chose this company for the good ratings and also a great Groupon deal.... we met at the location a bit early and were able to use the restroom before leaving for our tour. Our tour guide Dave was awesome - engaging, informative and also inquisitive as we were all an active part of the tour. What more to add? Yes, book the last tour of the day as the tour guide may not feel as stressed to get back to the Hollywood Blvd location on time and you may see some of the local celebrities, either driving their vehicles or briefly walking outside. Great company and ditto experience. read more

Manuel was a great tour guide -- he was very knowledgeable about the area and all the fun facts about the celebrities and the history of several areas in and throughout Los Angeles. He would even provide suggestions of food places to go to and I kept adding things to my bucket list of places to check out on my own time if I were to ever return to the area. I appreciate his patience and professionalism when navigating the roads of LA as not many drivers on the road are all too fond of the bus tours. However, Manuel handled things very professionally throughout our tour and was a flawless and safe driver making sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of. I am also very grateful that he reminded us to bring a jacket as this was around 3:30pm for the start of our tour when it was really sunny but it quickly became freezing by 5:30ish in the evening. He definitely saved us from the cold by recommending us to grab our jackets! Overall a really positive experience as he did not shy away from providing more info and knowledge about Hollywood even to the VERY last minute as we approached the drop off point. If you're thinking about doing the Access Hollywood Tour--do it, and definitely ask for Dave as your guide. He's been doing this for 30 years and you can tell--he knows everything about Hollywood, from old-school legends to today's biggest stars. But what really made it great was how personal and fun he made the experience. Dave was super friendly, funny, and really interactive. He didn't just rattle off facts--he told awesome stories, pointed out famous spots from movies and TV shows, and gave us the inside scoop on celeb homes and landmarks. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that made the tour even better. We were totally into it from start to finish. Honestly, it was worth every penny. I took my daughter and our friend from Europe on the two hour tour and we loved it. Dave was our driver he was so knowledgeable about Hollywood and the history of Hollywood. He showed us so many beautiful and incredible places and always had a story to tell about each location. Additionally, I felt very safe on the tour, he is an excellent driver! Manuel was a tremendous tour guide and this tour covered Hollywood and Beverly Hills; such spots as Runyan Cun and Mulholland Drive were covered, as well as stars homes both past and present in Beverly Hills along with Rodeo DrI've. Our tour guide today, October 7, 2019 @330pm was amazing! He was very courteous and patient in driving too. It's a total of two hour tour. Tipping is highly recommended for a minimum of $10 per person, which I personally think is just about right for the service rendered. Excellent experience. Thank you! read more

My friend and I took the day off of our stressful job to enjoy a day out and tour around Hollywood. We are both from Los Angeles and currently reside in the San Fernando Valley and Moorpark, and even being Angelenos, it was such a wonderful tour and day!! Our tour guide Dave was phenomenal! This was our first time in LA and on a Hollywood tour. Dave was extremely knowledgeable about the area and dropped gems on how to spot celebrities and who was nice if you ran into them. We stopped and was able to get out and take pictures of the downtown overview which was a great stretching break. I love that the van was open window so you could easily take pictures without a window glare. I would bring a jacket on the tour if you get cold. Seeing celebrity homes was a big highlight as well. I give 5/5 would definitely recommend to anyone for a cost effective great 2 hour tour. read more

The purchase process & check-in process was very smooth. They provided very good instructions on where to park, etc... Our 2 hour Celebrity Homes tour was super fun because our big group had our own bus for the duration. Big E was our guide and he did his best to make our experience delightful. The only critiques I have are that the Hollywood sign visit was a bit weak, and the actual drive through LA traffic could have been dealt with a bit less frustration. Overall great times and great job! read more

This was a really fun tour. Our host was awesome, entertaining, and I could tell he loved his job (I wish I could remember his name!). The tour was a great way to see parts of Hollywood that my husband and I wouldn't have been able to see if we were wandering around on our own. It was so cool to go around the Hollywood Hills--even if we couldn't care less about the celebrity parts of it! It's still awesome to see the fascinating/huge homes and ways of life. Although I said I couldn't care less about celebrities, I did get a bit excited going by Justin Timberlake's house...with garbage cans out front that I took a picture of. Come on, I had to have a little fun, right? It was nice to get out to get pictures of the Hollywood sign and see great views of downtown/the hills. I enjoyed hearing facts and information about each area. Even if you aren't into the "celebrity" scene, it's worth it. The tour is 2 hours, which was a good amount of time for me. Suggestion: bring a water bottle if it's warm out and be sure to use the bathroom beforehand. There's a bathroom towards the back of the Mexican restaurant where the tour starts. Ask the people to direct you. The only thing that I did not like was that there is a sign in the trolley that said suggested tips were $10, $15, and $20 (per person) depending on how much you enjoyed the tour. Based on the suggested tips, my husband and I should have given $20 each (because it was a great tour), essentially making our tour $40 extra. If you're on a tour with your entire family, it's simply unreasonable to give such a large tip after already paying for the tickets. We initially bought the tickets because they weren't $80 each like many tours in the area. So, I'd take the signs lightly and not stress about the tip. Not that our guide didn't deserve a tip (we gave one) but $20 is excessive... especially since we didn't even have that much cash on us anyway. Overall, worth booking if you want to see some fun areas around Hollywood. read more

Took the 2-hour tour on a Sunday afternoon...my 2nd and my husband's 1st Hollywood tour. Assumed (and based on reviews) Access Hollywood would be the more knowledgeable and informative of the tour groups around. THUMBS-UPS: -Parking lot across the street, $20/day -Departs from Hollywood Boulevard, so the sightseeing begins fairly quickly -Easy check in -Can bring food and drinks on the bus -Smooth riding open-air bus DISAPPOINTMENTS: -Our tour guide was a nice guy but ~75% of the tour was awkward silence. We drove for miles but very few homes and landmarks were pointed out. (Example: sat at numerous lights on Rodeo and zero mention of the Beverly Wilshire/"Pretty Woman" filming locale straight ahead...utter silence instead). Same with Greystone Mansion, Troubadour, Playboy (fmr) Mansion, Hotel Bel Air, Sunset Tower (drove past it twice with no mention), historical sites, etc. Of course not all tour companies point out the same things, but we literally sat for 10+ minutes multiple times with no mention of anything. Very awkward and it was a let down...we could've driven that ourselves for free. -Did some curious fact-checking afterwards...2 homes and 1 "fact" were 100% false info. Made up? SUGGESTIONS: Eric you have some people talent...bump it up a few notches and in between point-outs, fill in with Hollywood history or fun facts or ANYTHING!!! LA/Hollywood are history-rich...there's zero reason for substantial silence. Cruising along Mulholland Drive? Fantastic, tell us about it! Roxbury Drive? Your guests are interested in it's old Hollywood residents! Your guests pay to see sights and learn! read more

We had an amazing time on the celebrity homes tour. Steven was a fantastic tour guide. Not only was he funny but he was knowledgeable. He shared information about celebrities that only an insider would know. He also took us to an overlook area for the Hollywood sign and gave us 10 minutes for photos. Not of the other tours do this! We saw a ton of celebrities homes and landmarks in LA, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Bel Air and the Sunset strip. Definitely check them out! Best open are bus tour in Hollywood! read more

I went on this tour with my mom and daughter, so I can attest this tour was good for all ages. Dave was so fun and engaging and made two hours fly by. He is great guide - funny, informative, and charming. This is a great way of getting an overview of Hollywood/Beverly Hills/some general landmarks in two hours, and a great choice for out of town visitors. This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our LA trip! It gave me all the touristy feels I was looking for while in Hollywood! The meeting spot for the tour was in the middle of the Walk of Fame, so we enjoyed exploring the area before and after the tour. The bus itself was clean and well maintained. I also like that the top was covered so we didn't get too hot. I felt bad for the people we passed on other tours with the sun blazing down on them! Our tour guide Dave definitely took the tour to the next level for us. He got to know everyone on the bus and was extremely personable. My favorite part was when he would say something like "that's the hotel so and so got arrested in!!". I surprisingly don't know a lot about pop culture, but knew the bare minimum to make a tour like this enjoyable. Definitely beginner friendly! Before and after the tour, they let us use their private restroom which was appreciated. And side note-- I also like that this tour company isn't one of the ones who try to grab your attention or hand you a brochure as you walk down the street. Just seemed so much more professional than others! I can't recommend this tour enough!! read more

we arrived to our tour van, and to our relief was offered a restroom (hard to find in LA). Our tour was very punctual; once everyone was checked in we departed. our guide (I think his name was Eddie) was fun and had a few treats for the kids to keep them occupied. He pointed out some cool celeb homes and kept the tour moving. We had been hoping for some more "fun facts" but Ed did a good job of answering questions. Celeb homes arent right on the road (for security reasons) so the views were about as good as they could be. Overall we were happy and it was a great way to get a feel for LA without battling traffic. read more

Is the bus covered, can this be done if raining?

Does this tour give you chance to take a good picture of Hollywood sign?

Hi Nancy, John from Access Hollywood Tours. We have one stop for 10 minutes at the Hollywood sign view point on Mulholland Dr about a mile and a half away 1700 hundred feet above ocean leave.

Do they have an office you start at to check in? We would need to use a restroom before it started. If we didn't m ake it all the way through, is there a bathroom break? Public restrooms can be hard to find in Hollywood and I have bladder issues!

I don't recall bathroom breaks throughout, but the kiosk is outside of a Mexican restaurant and you can get a key or code to use the restaurants bathroom before the trip starts.

The vintage funeral car was such a cool and fitting touch for the Manson Family Murders Tour (and the main reason why I booked the tour). About 80% of the experience was spent in the car, which was cozy and gave us plenty of time to soak in the history while listening to music from the era. Including Manson, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles, to name a few. We also made three stops along the way to get out, take photos, and see key locations up close. As a mortician, the experience carried an extra layer of meaning. I actually helped funeral direct the service for the LaBiancas' granddaughter (who had the same fate as her grandparents). So hearing and seeing this history firsthand felt deeply personal and surreal. If you're into true crime or Los Angeles history, this tour is an absolute must. Graveliners and Ansley made the experience both educational and unforgettable. We loved every minute!

Since this incident in 1959, the 1925 Spanish Revival mansion has remained vacant and perfectly untouched. If you were to peer through the windows of the home you would see that the Christmas tree, the presents, and the interior décor have remained just as it did the night of the murders. A few months after the murders the home was sold at auction to a couple who used the home mainly for property storage. After they died around 1994 the property was passed on to their son who has continued to keep the property as is. We stopped at the Clifton amd before we entered heard all about Clifford Clinton, his efforts to clean up LA, his wife, his mistress, his attempted suicide and finally how all the of the aforementioned managed to find a way to co exist until his death. Chris was well spoken, articulate, funny and very personable. The others on the tour were cool people too- I met two women from my hometown of Boston and ended getting dinner with another couple of people after the walk. The entire experience lasted a little over three hours with bathroom breaks and a martini from the Clifton thrown in the mix. I'm so glad I chose these guys vs a commercialized van on a people safari in LA. I really wanted to experience DTLA from the perspective of a truth seeker, mesmerized by its architecture, history and seedy history. I could feel the energy in some of these places- magical. I wanted it to be a surprise, so I called the company to let them know of my plan and Julia made sure to send the link of the song to my gondolier. We got Jack for our gondolier and let me tell you, he was perfect. He made our night very special and was very informative of the houses and history of the canal. He picked the perfect time to play the song and made the entire experience perfect. I highly recommend this for any special occasion. I definitely want to go back for the holidays to see the lights.

We were spoiled and treated like VIPs throughout. Highlights include: Temples - so many Buddhist temples, beautiful and unique. Elephant sanctuary - A highlight! Up close and personal with these majestic creatures. We walked with them, made and fed them medicinal treats. Tuk Tuk tour - a VIP tour of the streets of Chang Mai. So fun and enjoyable. Hotels resorts - beautiful, elegant and top service including massages and buffet breakfasts. Food - Supera goes out of their way to handpick local specialties that most tourists don't know about. My husband loves movies like "The Long Goodbye" and "Dead Again", LA based thrillers, so that's how we discovered High Tower Elevator because they used it as a location for these cool films. So we looked into it. More trivia, it is mentioned by Michael Connelly in his novels ("Echo Park) and he used to live here, cool, tight? Hard to find parking in the area, but since we got tickets for the Bowl and we were parked in their lot, we figured we should take advantage and walk to it. Just a few minutes walk, from Highland, we took a right on Camrose and another right on High Tower Drive and here you are! If you want to see it closer, take a right on Los Altos (stairs) and another right on Broadview Terrace and you will be able to see the building and the elevator closer up! A quick hike up the stairs, nothing really. At 2200 Broadview Terrace, there's a Frank Lloyd Wright House, the Otto Bolman House. Lots of hidden gems, art deco beauties around, great views of the city and of the hills around. There is even a bench to sit, relax, admire the beauty around. Fun excursion in our own city where there's always something new to discover, something unique and original. The elevator is for residents only, but it was fun to see it. The tower is inspired by Italian campaniles, built in the 20's. Great slice of LA history, always great to dig deep and find great places off the beaten path!
