The Calico Cat staff is always welcoming and helpful. All staff are volunteers. The shoppe is clean and orderly and always smells nice! The inventory changes quickly, and I can usually always find an item of clothing or useful household item. I appreciate being able to try on clothes in the dressing room. Pricing is very inexpensive and fair. I like that all the money goes back to helping others in the community who need assistance. read more

This is a smaller sized thrift store managed by very kind and friendly women! I stopped in here over the weekend and it was pretty busy in here, so obviously a community favorite. It has some clothing, home goods, knitting supplies, toys, games, and more. It is CASH ONLY! I didn't know this until I went inside and saw a sign on the store, this was discouraging for me because I don't carry much cash around, so I was not prepared. Nothing caught my eye when I was looking around but like I said, it was busy in there so obviously this store has good finds. I would give it another chance and go back maybe on a week day when it's less busy and I can really take my time looking around, but my main take away would be to remember cash! Great thrift store with really very affordable prices, so quick turnover of inventory. Proceeds go to the middletown foodbank and it is all volunteer run by a very kind group wanting to give back. There is a dressing room, parking out front and across the street. Very small space however with part time hours. If you are wanting a to browse stop by for a quick look. read more

I've been shopping here since 1993.. or when I no longer had to wear my catholic school uniform ;) Beyond great prices - colored tags identify if the item is half off or not,check w/ the front counter for sign. Large selections of men's, women's, kids clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, housewares, books, linens - don't be surprised if you find merchandise new w/ tags! What a nice place... I've found the Calico Cat to have high quality, clean items, with a sense of flair and style as well. My daughter who is 11 loves the jewelry box, and other items I have gotten her there. But the best part are how nice every one of the volunteers are. Calico Cat is a great little place which is not your standard thrift shop. They do not have books, housewares or electronics. I would say that this shop offer more, higher end purses, bags, evening wear, suits, shoes, jewelry, etc. They do have some racks of just basic low end clothes. I have bought some great designer bags that were barely used. This store is pretty tight and every inch of space is filled. I love just looking through everything and it is time consuming but to me it's fun. For me this place is really a hit or miss and that's the best part of thrift shopping. On a good day, I'll walk out excited about my purchase and on other days, I just killed some time. As with all thrift stores, you should call to see what their store hours are so that you won't be disappointed when you get there. read more

I have never shopped here but I have dropped off lots of clothes. I discovered this place when my daughter did her community service for her confirmation. I do not trust the donation bins in the various parking lots and at Calico Cat I can at least hand my donation to a real person. read more

The most important part about this shop is that all it's donations and proceeds go towards helping the local community. Items are carefully sorted and scrunitized before being priced. Our prices are low to competitive. There's something for everyone here. From infant toys and clothing to adult. Bric brac and households. It's a tiny store so no furniture. These are posted on the left door frame after you enter the store so check that display before you start to shop. What an absolute waste of time. We were out shopping on rt 35. We come from staten island. It was 2:20. They wouldn't let us in even after telling them we came from staten island. They close at 2:30 on a Thursday! Who closes 2:30 on a Thursday! Even so we had 10 minutes. I see why they call it calico cat. I LOVE this place. It is clean, organized, and the prices are LOW. I got my senior prom dress (a beautiful, full length, light blue, David Bridal gown) here for only 50 cents! Basically, you won't have to worry about rifling through a heap of stained clothes and dusty garbage just to find something that is over priced. And the best thing of all? The money goes to a good place. I'm in college now, but I still go here every chance I get. Trust me, this place is great! read more

i purchased a lot of items here and also donated a lot through the years. I felt someone could use what I was not, and vice versa. It is very smart to shop at a thrift store. However, I had a bad experience last week. I dropped off some items, and then started to shop. I guess they didn't realize I was still in the store. I gave them a beautiful framed picture of Beagles and a clipboard (fine condition, with a picture on it a child had drawn). Some items i give them i feel they would be able to provide to their pantry, which also dispenses clothing and free books and other items (such as the clipboard). They actually told me this once. I thought a child would like to use it for art or pretend play. Well, one of the ladies made fun of my bringing them a "used" clipboard. She dramatically dumped it in the garbage. Isn't everything in your store used? Isn't that the whole point of it? Then, she proceeded to talk about how people give them items that are "garbage" because they are hoarders, and cannot on their own deal with throwing items out. For her information, that clipboard came from a school teacher who was retiring, not my house. I felt it was not a very nice way to speak about the people who are supporting your thrift shoppe. I will never shop or donate items there again. I do not go to places that are not appreciative, let alone insult. read more
