I'm taking karate from a dude in my building. Real old school guy from the 80s. Said his training was all leg sweeps and body bags. But he teaches me different. One thing he teaches me is beer. #datbanquet S'why when I walked in & learned this place's fave brew is the same as my sensei's, I HAD to get the gold mzafzn bottle opener card. Gold, bro. I can finally have a bottle opener in my wallet next to my license every time I get pulled over for crunk driving. KIDDINGGGGG

Very interesting new business. I like it a lot and their motif of surfy outdoorsy culture..handcrafted, designed flannels and printed shirts. I didn't actually like the women's offerings, but it was interesting. If only the shirts weren't $130-140 for printed or flannel. You can get that elsewhere for cheaper. But it's all concept and design.

Bought this shirt for my son for Christmas. He loved it. Best gift ever. Now, one month later both sleeves are ripping. Ugh! He lives in WA and it's a real bummer for $150.

Cons: some things were priced appropriately, I got a Brandy Melville cardigan for $24. But some things were definitely overpriced - I'd say a lot of things. Maybe half the things. Ex: a forever 21 slip dress for $22. Probably cost that much (or less) brand new. I found the staff person to be very cool in temperature. Not icy cold, but far from warm or personable, and I did not feel super comfortable because of that. She was a bit cold toward both myself and another costumer. Just not inviting at all, and I'm not itching to go back. But would I stop in if I were in the area? Sure. Would I drive 20 minutes again? Prob not.

My appointment was on a day that the store was closed. My purses were taken at the door - I was not invited in to discuss which purses were wanted or the selling prices. I was not given an opportunity to withdraw the purses if I felt the selling prices were too low. I was never given an inventory of what they kept or the prices. Security isn't great - when I went to pickup the 3 purses that went unsold, only 2 were located - the third was apparently shoplifted. The owner was unsympathetic and unconcerned.

I love learning about culture and didn't want to interrupt as I walked around the store I noticed that iconic Buddhas with handwritten messages about what each figurine stood for. I only know about a couple of the Buddhas and good luck charms within the Japanese and Chinese culture but Tibetan culture is still new to me. Some of the items were a bit overpriced, but I believe for the value since they were imported, it wasn't too bad of a price. Plus, I love shopping at small businesses and I fell in love with some bracelets that look similar to an Nenju in Japanese culture, made out of turquoise and tigers eye. I know the healing qualities of both beads, and I bought two of the bracelets for my son and my best friend. As I asked the gentleman about the masks on the wall, he was delighted to tell me about his culture, and how there is a Buddhist tradition where people wear a larger version of the mask to ward off bad/evil spirits at different festivals throughout the year! I was able to share with him about the Japanese culture and how they have a festival in February where someone wears a red or blue mask of an OnI mask. He listened to my story and added more from his culture since he was from Tibet! I love to listening to his story, and he actually brought up a video of the cultural dance on his iPad! I felt very enlightened for the day, and I loved learning about his culture and history! I will definitely be back again!!

There is a place which honors San Francisco and the Richmond ( the District and not the city of Richmond). This place has art which honors the monuments of San Francisco and the style of San Francisco on clothing. It is called Fleetwood. On a Summer stroll on Clement street I landed inside Fleetwood. Inside you will find hats and jewelry along with shirts and seaters with prints that represent San Francisco from the Richmond District to the Golden Gate Bridge to the Sunset Dunes. You will find posters with San Francisco related prints along with tote bags. Fleetwood is also an art gallery and also has screen printing workshops. "They seek him here, they seek him there His clothes are…read moreloud, but never square It will make or break him so he's got to buy the best 'Cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion" (the kinks) I stumbled into SONAS after I had a $14 pancake ($17 with tip) across the street in lovely Fairfax. SONAS: snuggled sort of in between Gestalt Haus and the COFFEE ROASTERY. (Sans the character who used to wear nothing but pink terry cloth short shorts who would hang on the corner daily.) A groovy little store with maximum use of minimal space. Hip aesthetic, kind of like the British invasion meets Robert Graham on the way to a little modern day "Liberace-esque" style without the candelabra?! Not exactly the right gear for my body or my style as I'm sort of a self-proclaimed hetero "POLO Queen". I'm kind of locked in that chino slacks, Weejun loafers, old school preppy look. A very welcoming, friendly proprietor named GERRY holds down the set very well. It's a great haberdashery (maybe "boutique" is apropos as they have men's and women's clothing) for that evening out in the city at a rock concert just hanging out in general. An OASIS for Burning Man folk or the Marin County corporate attorney preparing for a weekend of debauchery! JIMI on one wall mirrored by PRINCE on the other with Gerry sporting a sort of iridescent blue tie with the words "KIND OF BLUE", a nod to Miles. A trifecta, three of my favorite musicians! "So you want to be a rock 'n' roll star? Then listen now to what I say Just get an electric guitar Then take some time and learn how to play And with your hair swung right and your pants fit tight It's gonna be all right Then it's time to go downtown Where the agent man won't let you down" (the byrds) These lyrics came to mind as I was eyeballing the joint and they're very fitting, GERRY the "agent" and "downtown" representing Fairfax downtown.... Kind of reminds me of "famous4" in Mill Valley, but with a keener eye. I shall return one day and pick up something- maybe as a gift. Or, when I wanna "take a walk on the wild side".
