From my initial visit to the Californi Custom Sheds business location through to the completion of the shed, everything went very well. Luis was super helpful to me, answering questions on site while we were looking at the models on display. He also directed me to thier website which has a 3D modeling app where I was able to model lots of options and get an idea on pricing as well. When I booked the installation, the lead time was about 4 or 5 weeks out as this is a busy time. I said if anything opens up sooner, let me know. We have had three sheds built by CA Custom Shed. Nothing but praise for all of it --- from ordering to fully built. The quality of the sheds is obviously high, and the business exceptionally well-run or we wouldn't be return customers (3x!). So many detailed things that make not just the product 5 stars, but the people as well. The office staff operates like a "hive mind", smoothly communicating among themselves to ensure the design, planning and invoicing is easy and error free. The build crew works like a well-oiled machine, working independently or helping one another as needed, moving fast and efficiently to get the high quality build done and the site spotless before leaving. The crew was relaxed, friendly and ensured that where our input was needed they gave us a chance to offer it. They also offered their own opinions when asked, and gave great advice for small design tweaks that led to a shed better than it would have been had we gone with our first idea. Pricing for these sheds is better than that for Tuff Sheds or similar that you see at the Home Depot parking lot and they are MUCH better made --- look at stud spacing, look at materials, look at roofing/flooring, look at ground contact materials. This is a review a few months after having two sheds built by California Custom Sheds. Don't expect me to come up with negative info as I find this company and their employees on the exceptional side. I am extremely pleased with the results of the two I had built. I will not cover the prep work which I had done separately as I could write many words about that too. I am using my sheds in place of a garage to store tools and materials of all sorts, much of which are divided between Sterilite totes loaded onto shelving up to six levels high. The style of roof that I chose, the shed roof is angled with an Interior Height of 9' 3", making plenty of stacking room. The shorter side is 7' 3" feet allowing stacking up to five shelf levels. But don't worry I did fasten the shelves to the wall. FYI, Home Depot carries both the large totes and the HDX shelving, 24" deep. Two 64 quart Sterilite totes fit easily on each shelf with good clearance. That is a lot of storage space that is protected from dust over the years and each tote has near transparent sides that you can see through so you do not need to depend on labels. For me it is easier to remember where I put things by visually looking instead of relying on labels on the outside of boxes. The sheds were built with the Heavy Duty construction option for the flooring and walls. When I step into either one of the sheds it feels super sturdy. It also feels roomy since I can easily walk to the other end through a 40 inch wide isle. I have windows on both ends, the door has windows too for additional light during the day. There are two Wind Turbines near the high point of each roof with three vents on the opposing wall. The doors are real house doors with pre-drilled holes so I could add the same type of door knobs and dead bolts that I have on my house. The windows face north and south. The tallest wall faces due west so the afternoon sun hits it with heat most every day during the summer. That wall does not have any windows so all the storage material in each tote works as an insulator and forces much of the radiant heat generated from the sun to travel straight up and out the Turbines. I know this because I had the first shed built and put in all the shelves and noticed how much warmer the second shed was before putting in the shelving. At least an eight-degree difference. After the second shed was filled with its own shelving system it too was much cooler inside. Wow how nice. I did paint the sheds an off white to help reflect heat and I choose the lightest roof color. If the temperature outside goes high then so the interior of the shed. I live in a relatively cool area so my attempt to keep temps down is working well. About the employees. This project did not happen in a short time but over many months of thinking and deciding what to do for prep. The staff at Calif Custom Sheds were always kind and never complained for the many changes that I made. They never tried to up sale me by asking if I might want something that I did not initiate. After I mentioned this detail to one of the employees he said "Yes the sheds sell themselves," I thought that was a nice motto. The way the employees treated me was most appreciated and also their advice was quite helpful. Now that all is completed, I can say I got real value with the quality of materials and a very good construction process. They work very fast and it was exciting. You probably can't beat the level of quality construction they provide included with the price of the sheds. The building crew was also excellent. No playing around, all business. Every time I approached the lead to ask a question, he finished the task he was doing and then listened to what I might ask. He always found a way to accommodate my request. My sheds are both 15 by 8 feet. The high side of the shed roof gives me added privacy from a neighboring two story house. I also enjoy the ramps that they built for me for each shed. read more
