I had waited 20 years to replace the carpet so it was a very big deal for my family! I surveyed various carpet companies online and selected Floors Direct Carpet One in Gilroy. The store had a great selection, offers to assist but did not oversell. The owner is very knowledgeable. I took my time and narrowed down to 3 selections which I could take home to evaluate in the room. Once the decision was made the rest was scheduled timely and the installation went smoothly. The installers were very nice, competent and respectful. They even helped move furniture! I love my carpet! The experience was much easier than anticipated. I was very impressed with the selection of laminate flooring this place had. It was awesome to have so many choice in one small nice shop. The customer service was really good and Rhonda was extremely nice and knowledgeable about flooring. The reason for the minus one star is because they don't always have their inventory where they say they do and had to let me know certain things wouldn't be available for our project till after we paid. And we had to wait an extra 3 weeks to finish our project. But other then that; I would highly recommend this place to others! read more

Honestly, cannot even rate this business as we've been trying very unsuccessfully for the last 3 weeks or so just to have someone come out and do a simple estimate. Don has supposedly given our info to a couple of different subcontractors, none of whom had contacted us. Yesterday, when he called and said he was passing it off to yet another installer, I told him that really, we just need an estimate done already. He called me back and FINALLY said someone could be out here around 3 the next afternoon. 3:30 this afternoon, the guy calls and says he can't come today to do our carpet stretch because the job he's at now is taking too long. I told him we were not having a stretch done, just a quote. He says his order says to do the stretch. I tell him without even ever getting a quote, the order is incorrect. He tried to put me off but I explained that we'd already gotten the run around for weeks now. He said he'd call me back but thinks he can get me in. He does call back very promptly and asks if between 5 and 6 will work. I'm not happy but I just want to get this done finally so I say sure and even repeat..."Okay, I will see you between 5 and 6 tonight." He affirms, and now it's closer to 7:00 and I have a family I need to prepare an evening meal for and my day starts very early. No call to say he's running late (or more obviously not coming at all). I am irritated that it should take three weeks and beyond to even get someone out here to give me an estimate. If the installers don't want to work, don't put your name in. Don, you should be vetting your subcontractors. You are going to lose customers who wanted to purchase flooring from you. I have already done research and have found other local flooring folks who will want my business and treat me like my time matters. I will not recommend this business to anyone, but then again, their customer service says more about them than I could. ***UPDATE*** Have not heard from this business since the guy made an appointment with me for between 5 and 6 the other night. And never showed up. No call to apologize, nothing, But..... I have since contacted another business and (pay attention, Carpet One), not only did they get back to us the next day to schedule an appointment, but they even sent an email confirmation today, for our appointment tomorrow! Already, this place gets more stars than Carpet One. read more

We had a great experience with John at Floors Direct Carpet One. He is honestly a very patient Salesperson/ manager. We started shopping about 6-8 months before we were ready to purchase just to get ideas. We told him we weren't ready to buy yet and he still gave us his full attention helped us with color samples and pricing. Months and months later we were ready. We gave him a call he gave us more samples and came by our home for measurements. He gave his professional opinion on our choices ( after us asking of course) . We narrowed it down and finalized our order two weeks later. Installation came within another two weeks and him working around our schedule. His installers worked very fast and professionally. I am completely thrilled with our experience. We got laminate flooring that looks so much like wood floors. It changed the look of our home completely. I've been working w Carpet One in Gilroy to select numerous flooring materials for the remodel of my 5th wheel. There selection is great and I am very impressed with their expertise on items I have zero knowledge of. These items include different types of laminates, vinyls and new and improved materials I've never heard of. They allowed me to take samples to have my team review the carpet textures as my 5th wheel has 4 sliders and can be quite complicated to fit correctly. I met with them again today to start my selection file after confirming the carpet height would work. I have an interior designer who will assist with the additional colors and textiles. I can't say enough that during a remodel it takes so much stress off of you when you have a team of experts who can confirm your needs but make sure it all fits together nicely. read more

I have rental property and needed carpet installed pretty quickly. I first went to Home Depot but their turn around time was too long. After finding Floors Direct on yelp, I gave them a shot and was very happy with the experience. Rhonda was very knowledgeable and got me going right away. They were very flexible with their timeframes and the installer was very nice and fast. They did forget a small part I specifically requested but here is where they went above and beyond. They told me they didn't carry that part so instead of leaving it at that, the installer went out of his way to purchase the part on his own and after work hours came back on the same day to make sure it was installed. Floors direct installed four rooms of carpet. It was a very easy transaction. They measured the rooms the next day for free. The quote was competitive, even with the huge chain hardware stores (who are much more complicated to deal with). The installation went quickly and there were no flaws. A carpet installed by this store location a few years ago started buckling under our feet not long afterwards. We brought it to the attention of the previous owner, who seemed reluctant to offer a solution, so we tried to live with it until it became totally unacceptable. We returned to the store 5 days ago, talked to the NEW owner (Don) about it, and he said he would send his worker out to stretch the carpet, only charging us a small fee for the labor involved with moving the big furniture. 48 hours later, the carpet was repaired, no indication of the wrinkles remained, and we are so grateful for his caring response to something Don wasn't even responsible for. Pros - Got lots of help from Don in choosing the hardwood floor we wanted and we're very happy with our choice. He was also able to get the carpet I wanted even though it wasn't one on display in his store. Price for flooring and carpet was the best around! We felt the work was done at a quick pace and we're happy with the new carpet which is in a family room, hall, and 4 bedrooms. Cons - Was not given any instruction on how to take care of my new hardwood floor. Workers that installed the carpet did so with dirty shoes on. I had also asked them to allow me to clean the baseboards behind the large furniture when they moved it. They said they would let me know when it was a good time to take care of that but they didn't. They seemed very detail oriented on day one but on day two which was a half day they seemed to be in a hurry. I had to point out a dresser that got scraped with white paint from the doorway (they did take care of that but I found more after they left) , a piece of furniture was put back backwards, and another item not quite in the right place but too heavy to move over once I saw it. I'm also not thrilled with where the carpet seam is in one of the rooms. I would definitely do business with them again but would be more observant as they moved my furniture in and out. I'd ask about the location of the seams, and have them come prepared to cover their shoes when walking on the newly installed carpet. read more

They carry good quality products and provide superb customer service. I love the solid bamboo floors that they installed for me. We found Floors Direct using Yelp! We wanted to remove the ugly old carpet and install hardwood in the three large bedrooms and long hallway (980 sq ft). In the upstairs area of our house. We found a great bamboo that doesn't look too bambooish at Floors Direct. Rhonda helped us in the selection and throughout the process. The ordering of the materials, delivery, and finally the installation were wonderful. They did all the work in one long day ( it was the Friday before a holiday weekend so we were really glad that they could finish). Everyone was nice and responsible and quiet workers. We had flooring in our living room and den and tile in our downstairs bathroom. John helped us in the process by explaining different flooring and tile. He was patient with us and was very accomodating. He arranged the flooring order and tile order as well as working with us on a installation date. On the day of the flooring install, Rick and Eddy and one other person were there at 9 am as scheduled and did both the living room and den in one day. In at 9 and out at 3:30pm That's including moving the furniture out of both rooms. Aaron came on a Saturday to install the tile. He moved the toilet out and did an excellent job on the tile and reinstalled the toilet. Everyone one at Floors Direct was friendly and very knowledgeable. I will have them put in the tile in the laundry room as soon as funds become available. First class all the way. read more
