Service: we have always had attentive service - Evan has been our sales consultant for our kitchen and wine bar remodel. He answered all of our many questions, and discussed the pros and cons of various stones. He arranged for several slab 'visits', which really helped with some additional decision making. He is very polite, easy going and fun to chat with. We have worked with other stone suppliers (see below), and Evan has been the best consultant to work with, by far. Selection: when we lived in the Bay Area, we purchased slabs from IRG and DaVinci. These are both huge suppliers with a good selection, but Carmel Imports has more quartzite (our preferred stone) and the people are much better to deal with! If your project is DIY with relatively small tile needs, I sincerely hope your experience with customer service is better than mine. No problem with the order, but a very "could care less" attitude elsewhere. I was told I would be contacted when the order came in - not contacted, I had to call them. I was told it had arrived but first needed to be checked and would be contacted later in the day - no contact later that day nor for two more days, had to call them to arrange for pickup. I saw an interesting floor tile in the window that caught my eye. I went in and asked the clerk about it. She seemed disinterested in my request to learn more about it. I wanted to see photos or get information as to how it would look on a floor. She had no answers, did not get anyone else to help me nor did she offer to call me back. Had no interest in helping me with a new floor. It would have been a substantial sale. The customer service I received was so bad I would not recommend them based on my experience. read more

I am a total supporter of the local business. I have done many remodels and used many different stone companies. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. They shorted me on my order blamed my contractor for stealing charged me more money so that I could get what they shorted me gave me less than superior tile, told me that they told me there would be veins going through the tile. They did not. They gave me tiles with mold on them. And when I complained just gave me excuses and told me I owed more money for the tiles. I definitely will not go back to them nor will I recommend them. read more

We've been working with Robbie and his team for several years now. As general contractors we really appreciate the ability to send clients to his showroom where they can select materials for floors, baths, kitchens, and exterior hardscape in one stop. Their system saves us a lot of time and makes us look good with our clients. In '14 we ordered a watercut floor package for a 10,000sf house that was on an 80' radius. Every row of tile needed a unique top and bottom radius and arc length. Happy to report that 68 unique tile IDs were delivered and installed without a hitch. Glad we get to work with these guys! We had shopped for kitchen countertops for well over a year when we discovered Carmel Stone in Sand City. We fell in the love with the beauty of their Porcelain Calacatta Michelangelo. Within 6 months of it being installed and us working in our kitchen we got 3 chips on the edges pf the countertops. We had no idea how they got there as we are pretty careful cooks in our kitchen. We contacted Carmel Stone to complain and they sent the owner Mr. Robinson out to our home. He said they have never had a single complaint on Porcelain and that we must have hit the counters with something very hard which was definitely not the case. He offered no help other than to call the fabricator to see if they could repair it in anyway. The fabricator who he called then told us he would never recommend using porcelain on counter tops as they are so easy to chip and crack. When we originally evaluated buying these porcelain countertops the sales person said this is the strongest material they sell even over quartz and granite which is why we decided to go along with it along with the fact it is just beautiful. We feel completely mislead and we would definitely not wish this on anyone else either remodeling a kitchen or building a new home like ours knowing what we know now. I will say that Mr. Robinson has absolutely no empathy or customer service skills. We found him to be complete dis-engaged and rude and we'll never do business with this company again. read more

There with a friend AJ cursed at us, got angry for asking to correct placing of stone. Even put us in harms way and told us to put his a frames on the truck wich in my opinion is there job. 1000 bucks paid in advance. Also rushed us out and refused to complete the loading to our satisfaction and peace of mind. Will never go back and you shouldn't eighther. They won't respect your money there slogan (pay me and go!) p.s. Forgot to mention my buddy Steve was promised free delivery at time of purchase. They made him wait a week then they suddenly refused and denied the delivery one week after payment. Took a month before he was finally able to get it to his house to install himself. read more
