Wonderful experience from start to finish at this office! I've always been protective of my hearing at concerts, parades, and other loud environments, but always been a little disappointed at how regular foam earplugs and even more expensive plugs distort the sound. I knew custom-fit, professionally engineered plugs were an option for far less distortion (and thus more enjoyment of shows), and I decided to bite the bullet and have some made. There was a little bit of a snafu with the appointment I'd made through a third-party provider, but the office managed to work me in despite the trouble (which was totally not their fault). This was all uncharted territory for me, but Dr. Giana Hatem put me at ease and was really wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. She answered all my questions, made some recommendations, and walked me through everything, from taking impressions of my ears (which feels super weird, but it doesn't hurt one bit) to making sure the fit was right and that I was happy when the final product came in. Which brings me to another thing to love about this office: they have a wonderful sense of humor! So refreshing! As Dr. Hatem was walking me through the office while I had bright pink goop in my ears, another doctor pointed at my ear and said "there's something in your ear!" On a return visit, they had a skeleton sitting on a bench in their waiting room reading a newspaper for Halloween too. These are not stuffy, super-serious-business people. I love that. After using my new earplugs for a while, I decided I wanted a second pair with far less attenuation for karaoke nights so I could hear myself off the house speakers better while singing, and Dr. Hatem made that process super easy. She asked me several questions to make sure she understood my needs and went out of her way to find me attenuators with about 80% less apparent attenuation (16dB less). I didn't even have to come back in for impressions- they still had my previous ones available to make a second set of plugs. If you're a serious musician or even just a serious concert-goer and you want to hear the full spectrum of sound, without distortion, and just quieter, I really recommend getting a custom set of earplugs. And this California Hearing Center office is a terrific place to get some made! read more

At my former audiologist (affiliated with a local hospital) I was given an appt for mid-2023--WTF?! I was out. Hell with this bs, and scouted around for another place. Stumbled onto this place, and oh man--I lucked out BIG time! Every single person here is a rockstar. My audiologist, Dr. Kira Savin, is bomb: a dervish of energy and expansively warm, a ball of fire who intuits my needs, and quickly prescribed a better option. I'd been wearing Widex Beyond 440 and having problems for years, tried the Evoke, hated them, and returned them ASAP. but humans are an adaptive species, and sadly, I'd resigned myself to squealing/feedback, sub-optimal sound, uncomfortable feel, public space background noise, and due to its crappy, confusing, complicated, busy user-interface, never used the app ... the list of woes interminable. I was a bit nervous before my first appt. with Kira, but was immediately put at ease--she's on the ball, super efficient, and has a vibe of spinning the earth with one palm, lol :-) A week ago, I got my brand spanking new Oticon, and I gotta say, other than my husband, this is my new found second love :-) The are dope, e.g. yes the hardware, but beyond this, it's all in the programming and customer service, which can't be beat here. We got rid of my stupid tulip domes, and today I got a tutorial on replacing filters, and experimenting with different sized/types of domes. I need to get a life because I'm oddly excited by all this novelty :-)! I'm astonished by what Dr. Savin manages to do--the equivalent of pulling rabbits out of hats and pull magic trick after another. I'm a toucher and hugger, and for years, I'd hug people but brace myself, apprehensive for the inevitable feedback whistling that happened. It's sad I normed on it :-(! It is now significantly lessened, and I went out of my way to hug Kira as I left the office (to test whether I got feedback). Noooo! I did not! For those of you who are hearing impaired, you'll understand what a colossal pain in the ass it is to hear a massive high pitched squeal coming into and out of your ear. I've also started to wear my Oticon in public noisy environments, precisely because I know they'll be forgiving, and not an assault. I'm thrilled with my experience at CA Hearing Center: the level of service is incomparable, e.g. Dr. Savin encourages me to email her for questions, and I take full advantage of this, badgering her with my OCD stalker-ish alerts, lol :-) After my first fitting, she insisted I go back in a week so she could be on top of my evolving needs. I complained about being worried about dust on the recharger, and voila--I got a solution! I had issues with sudden loud noises, and bam, by programming the thingamajig ... problem much better! I'm elated because for so many years I lived just kinda shrugging my shoulders and figuring there wasn't much that could be done (because when I brought it up before at previous places, nothing much changed for the better), I thought all those issues a necessary evil. Hello! I now have not one but two ... count them two, programs with two separate control volumes, literally at my fingertips. Technology is a wonderful thing, especially for me who grew up without smartphones and with the library card catalogue. Dr. Savin, btw., makes intelligent choices and doesn't rush in to change stuff just for the hell of it. I appreciate that she wants me to live with the device for a while and collect real life data, and report back, so that we can discriminatingly reprogram. She's has a wonderful blend of challenging and respectful of my idiosyncrasies, e.g. my not wanting to use the Bluetooth capability, when I explained my dislike, understood. Did I mention my Oticon's are a beautiful pearly baby pink?? What more could a girl want? This entire place is an ode to better hearing, it actively celebrates it. The front staff, Charisse, always gracious, available to coordinate/pass messages, help me with their tea/coffee machine ... Sneha, billing expert extraordinaire--she never phones it in, and goes the extra mile to proactively call me to update on insurance stuff, e.g. when I tried to get a "GAP exception," through UHC she tried to make it happen, and though it didn't work out, I appreciate she took the time to learn about it, and also confirmed my benefits before ordering the hearing aids. The parking situation is pretty good, e.g. street parking without meters and they have a little lot as well (the clinic is an adorable little house converted into a medical facility). Though they are 'out of network,' I decided to go to them, and how worth it, because my experience here is above and beyond anything before, e.g. a level of personalized service and attention to detail, timely appointments, comfortable setting. If I were a sports person, I'd shout "home run," "touchdown," or some such thing. LOVE this place and the people here. I applaud myself for choosing wisely :-)! read more

I really appreciate California Hearing Center. I take my uncle there for the care of his hearing aids etc. They are always very nice and friendly. The front office staff are great and really accommodating, as I have to drive to help take care of my uncle. Recently he had major surgery, and CHC was very efficient. His exam was quick, so that he was not waiting around in pain. The office was clean, and everyone was wearing masks, and keeping safe. I felt that we were in good hands. The real quality of a service provider can always be found in times of difficulty, when it's not easy or convenient to provide exceptional service. Today, California Hearing Center proved again they provide just that kind of service. Supporting the Shelter in Place Order, it would be easy for them to close their doors and just wait it out...leaving their customers to solve their own hearing device problems. But they didn't, they create solutions; they offer curbside appointments, batteries and supplies by mail and delivery/pickup service. I needed to have one of my aids looked at and they made it so easy. Their curbside process protected us both and resolved my problem aid in a simple, convenient visit. I brought in my stubborn 73 year old father who has seen two other audiologists over the years but has refused to wear his hearing aids. We were desperate for help as he had stopped interacting with his family and it was impossible to have a normal conversation. Dr. Savin did an incredibly detailed test and then patiently spent a long time addressing his complaints and adjusting his hearing aids. She also provided a demo unit for him to borrow which he ended up liking more and purchasing. With the unit she worked hard to get us an amazing price and has been tweaking it every month to address all of his concerns. He now wears them all the time and has begun to spend more time with his grandchildren. I will forever be grateful. read more

I brought my hearing aid in for servicing, they were to order a part, paid for it and did not hear from them after 10 days. I contacted them on their website and did not hear back, I contacted them again a week later and still did not hear back. then they called me about 6 weeks saying they got the part without any apologies as if it was no big deal. Keep in mind, the part was badly needed to prevent the battery from falling out, so I had to go elsewhere for this part. This office is either unorganized or they don't care. I was also in the market for new hearing aids and was going to go to them for that, but after this experience, I ended up purchasing the hearing aids from another local practice. I also felt there is an elitist attitude at this practice and that they didn't need to impress me to win my business. I really hate to give anyone as one star, but this clueless practice deserves this, I am also going to bet they will contact me to change my review (based on their other ratings), but I am not going to budge. read more

Terrible service, not once but twice. I arrived early and no one was in the office. They let me sit for 30 minutes. Not one patient with the staff. All I needed was my over the ear tubes replaced. Just because I wear hearing aids, don't assume I'm a senior! As a younger woman I don't mind going here because it doesn't smell like some places that might cater to an older crowd nor does it smell antiseptic. It is bright, clean and the employees are all very friendly. I go to get my hearing aids adjusted or to add something like a bluetooth for hearing impaired people. Darcy knows how to find the right device for the patient. Everyone in the office is very pleasant and knowledgeable. I have learned over many years that what works for one person is not necessarily right for another. Darcy has worked with me, patiently, to find the combination of devices and programming to optimize my hearing. Because hearing aids are not perfect, it is important to find the right ones for you, and to get them programmed properly for your hearing loss. I trust Darcy to do that for me. Every time I go in, I hear about how out of date the devices I bought here now are, and I get the high pressure routine to buy new ones. If I tell them I'm not ready to speed several thousand more dollars on new devices, the indifference towards the performance and quality of the current devices is appalling. And thanks for enjoying your cup of coffee while not offering me one. And thanks for telling me, after the fact, that a loaner device was available while my earlier device was being repaired. That didn't do me much good when I needed it. There are good reasons why this industry is regulated, and I have been reminded of them here. read more
