I haven't given a review in a very long time but this one is well deserved. I noticed my left ear getting clogged so I tried ear drops and the spray bottle and that made things worse. I couldn't hear out of my left ear. It was horrible! So that night I searched on yelp and found the most amazing hearing clinic. I called the next morning right when they opened and the receptionist was the nicest person and got me an appointment the very same day. Dr. Ashley was the doctor that took care of me. She's absolutely amazing. She was very thorough and explained to me everything she was doing. She definitely spent over an hour with me irrigating both my ears and micro suction. Staff was great gave me a lot of information on the specific questions I asked. Doctors were great. Although at the end of the day they didn't specify if my clogged ear concerns where because of an ear infection and missed out a whole cause probability. They made sure to run test and and exams of what other concerns raised red flags on why after my ear cleaning. I still could not hear. I still get a phone call to this day if I need a check up or just to come into the office just to update them on how my hearing has been. I went here recently to get ear wax removed. Overall the experience was great. The front desk staff were friendly and pleasant. The doctor who took care of me was easy going and professional. She started with the ear vacuum and switched to apply some ear drop solution to soften some impacted ear wax. She removed the rest using manual tools. I came here for an ear wax removal after feeling a bit stuffed up for the last few weeks. I called to make an appointment and they had next day availability which was super great! Once I arrived at my appointment, I was seated in the waiting room for about 15 minutes. I had no idea what to expect as I hadn't had a wax removal before. However, the process was quite straightforward and very comfortable! I believe I saw Dr. Ashley (my apologies if I spelled this incorrectly), and she was very informative and gentle when removing the wax from my ears. I have been a Pacific Hearing (Menlo Park) customer for 4 years and was referred there by my mom (in her eighties at the time). I saw how my mom's quality of life improved after her hearing improved from getting hearing aids. So I decided to have Dr Baxter evaluate me. I had become increasingly aware that my hearing was getting worse. When I was in group meetings or social gatherings, I couldn't hear everything that people were saying. Increasingly, I had to ask people to repeat what they said, which became embarrassing and tiresome. My other options were to not respond to a comment or question, or worse - to guess what they said. I decided that the ability to hear was a priority for me as a businessman and personally. I needed to be able to hear. Dr Baxter and the entire Pacific Hearing staff are very professional without being stuffy. The battery of hearing tests were very thorough and her diagnosis and explanations were easy to understand. She presented a range of hearing aid options and price points for me to choose from. I never felt that she was trying to sell me anything. Her clear goal was to provide solutions for my hearing loss that fit my budget as well as my needs. I ended up getting WIDEX hearing aids. Based on my hearing test results, Dr Baxter "tuned" them to amplify specific sounds that I could no longer hear. Sounds that I could still hear were not amplified. Then the hearing aids were linked to my phone which allows me to make some adjustments on the fly in different situations (lots of background noise, etc). Cosmetically, they are not very noticeable. The particular model of hearing aids I chose was a major purchase for me. But they provided the hearing quality that helped me the most. Dr Baxter let me test drive the hearing aids for a week to decide if they were worth the investment. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I wear my hearing aids everyday for 12+ hrs. My life is so much better because now I can hear all the time! I hear the people talking to me, I hear relevant conversations around me at work and home, I can hear different pitches of music, cars approaching from behind when I'm walking, and I don't need the TV to be so loud. On and on. There is so much I would miss out on if I wasn't able to hear. All of the above has improved the quality of my life. I fully admit I was in deep denial that my hearing was suffering. After Dr. Otto's hearing test and mapping the results out both in a scientific way and in an intuitive, easy to grasp way, I finally (!) understood why* I couldn't hear my husband in a crowded room anymore, or why background noise was louder than whomever was speaking directly to me. Now it all makes sense thanks to Dr. Otto's kind and patient explanation and answering all my questions. I wish I was able to provide a review on their services. I had an appointment for today and completed all of the necessary paperwork online. When I booked the appointment, they stressed the importance of being punctual. I showed up 5 minutes early......after waiting 25 minutes i walked up to the front desk to say I think I needed to leave since I had lost patience waiting. There were no apologies nor effort to get someone to see me. I then said they might as well cancel the appointment - I did not have the time for a 90 minute appointment (what I was told to allocate) should I have started so late. Another person at the front desk asked for my name and simply took me off schedule. I can't speak to the quality or capabilities of the audiologists at Pacific Hearing Service, but the level of customer service and overall attitude here is absolutely outstanding. My experience there is what finally motivated me to register with Yelp and actually write a review. I needed a part for a relative's hearing aid in another country that they were having trouble getting. This was a $25 one time purchase and the kind of thing that a business _can_ afford to blow-off - which is exactly what happened at the first place I contacted. When I contacted Pacific Hearing Service, Vicky answered the phone and could not have been more helpful. I didn't even have a part number, only photos. She invited me to stop by and see if she could figure out what was needed, which she was able to do. It wasn't a brand they carry so she had to do a bit of research and then order the parts. The story goes on but Vicky was incredibly helpful and gracious at every step. This definitely took more of her time than it was really worth and all for someone who isn't even a real customer of theirs. So I figure a glowing review on Yelp is the least I can do. My parents joined us in Los Altos after they were evacuated from the Santa Rosa fire with the clothes they were wearing. It has been a trying time for my parents who are in their late 80's. My mother, who is profoundly hard of hearing, broke one of her hearing aides one evening and was completely devastated. Her audiologist from Santa Rosa suggested we try Pacific Hearing to see if they could give her a loaner. We went unannounced and were greeted with kindness and compassion by the entire staff. Not only that, but Dr. Debbie Clark took time from her lunch to help my very anxious mother. She was incredibly patient and took great care to speak with my mother clearly and carefully....and then she performed a miracle and fixed my mother's brand new hearing aides. She didn't stop there though! She arranged for my mother to spend time learning more about the care and handling of her aides by one of her lovely staff. This is what I would consider a small town, friendly, neighborhood doctor's office, amidst the hustle and bustle. I am not a patient here, nor is my father. However, I've recently taken over full care of my Dad's health management as he moved back to the Bay Area. He's in Walnut Creek, I work long hours in Palo Alto. I find myself with a seemingly broken set of hearing aids and a Dad in board and care 60 miles away. Where do I even start? The maker of the hearing aids directed me to Pacific Hearing Service in Los Altos. I called and they said I could absolutely come over and they'd take a look at them. The fact that they were open until 7:30pm that night made them that much more convenient to fit in. I walk in, no appointment. The representative at the front desk was friendly and ready to help me find a solution; same experience I encountered when I called earlier that day and spoke to someone else. She took the aids and placed them in some sort of cleaning machine, ran them through several times, cleaned up the ear pieces, put in new batteries, provided a new case and voila! the hearing aids were fully functional again. The cost was $20 and I was on my way with a smile and a friendly good-bye. What made the experience exceptional to me is encountering welcoming, uncomplicated, friendly expert service which resulted in my big problem being a relatively easy one to fix. If my Dad was local I would definitely take him to this office. They genuinely seem to care about what they do and how they can be of service, regardless if I was a current patient or represented potential future business (it was clear I was neither).
