This dojo is always changing especial senseis and even though they push you to beyond your limit,…read moreyou definitely learn some valuable lessons here and when to walk away. The mantra to show "No Mercy" is to treat someone with extreme harshness which echoes outside of martial arts, that leaves a stain on the soul. John Krease is truly unhinged, but sensei-Lawrence has fight and heart and brought balance to the dojo in a powerful way - but his struggles as a former student turned karate master definitely lead him on a better path. Mixing a splash of Miyagi-Do (the rival dojo)... "when the fight comes to you, you have to be ready to fight back..."... Johnny Lawrence cares and wants you to excel to the best of your ability in all areas of life which is what a true sensei should be and demonstrate, because karate isn't just a form of self defense it's a way of life. And while I've walked away after the All Valley incident pre-2020 as have others... I will never forget Cobra Kai never dies.

Great little spot. I learned how to defend myself here but more importantly- I made some friends…read more Sensei Kreese sometimes drinks when he is teaching me, but I don't mind because I get it #Vietnam. I wear my cooler fanny pack to keep his beers cold and in return he tells me gruesome stories. Sometimes I wish I had something to be depressed about. Until then - I'll just keep on doing happy karate. I just get so happy throwing punches. Thank you

I chose Shihan even before my kids were born. I first learned about his dojo when a classmate spoke…read morepassionately about the sense of community at HKD (Shihan's original dojo), and I was immediately sold. I called the dojo when my son was 3 1/2, and joining has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I wanted my children to grow up in a positive, supportive environment like the one Shihan has created. Shihan and Sensei Marco are incredible instructors, bringing decades of experience, deep knowledge of martial arts, and a strong understanding of child psychology. I can't emphasize enough on their patience!!! Their dedication to both the art and their students is exceptional. With experience that spans Hall of Fame recognition in Europe and the U.S., they treat everyone in their community like family. I cannot recommend this dojo highly enough. My older child is now 8 and I have seen firsthand how Hiro Martial Arts has shaped his confidence, focus, and character. And now my little one is part of the group as well. The impact of their guidance goes far beyond martial arts skills -- it truly transforms young lives.

The best decision we made for our kids!…read more We enrolled our children at Hiro Karate and it has genuinely been one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. From the very first class, the instructors made our kids feel welcome, confident, and excited to learn. At the heart of it all is the Shihan, whose presence and leadership set the tone for everything at Hiro Karate. You can tell immediately that this is someone who has dedicated their life to the art -- and to passing it on the right way. The Shihan leads with authority but also with warmth, and the respect the students show is completely earned. Seeing our kids look up to someone of that caliber has been truly inspiring. What sets Hiro Karate apart is the incredible balance they strike between discipline and fun. The instructors have a gift for keeping kids engaged while instilling real values -- respect, perseverance, and focus -- that we see carrying over into school and home life. Our kids walk out of every class standing a little taller. The teaching style is patient, encouraging, and age-appropriate. No child is left behind, and every small milestone is celebrated in a way that builds genuine self-esteem. Watching our kids advance through belts has been such a proud experience for our whole family. The facility is clean, safe, and well-organized, and the scheduling is flexible enough to work around busy family life. It's clear that everyone here truly cares -- not just about karate, but about the kids as individuals. If you're a parent on the fence about martial arts for your child, stop thinking and just go. Hiro Karate isn't just teaching kicks and punches -- they're building character, and the Shihan's influence is at the core of it all. We couldn't recommend them more highly.
