Absolutely loved my experience here. Will be coming back and the lady who did my nails did an amazing job!! I only waited for a little while and she took her time to do the design in my nails. It was about an hour long for everything but definitely worth it, she made sure every detail was accounted for and checked in with me to make sure I liked it. Don't bother making an appointment they don't honor it! 3 times in a row after making an appointment which I have to leave work early drive 30 minutes to the salon only to wait 20- 35 minutes before the take me! I'm done. The $180 plus $40 of tips per month that I spend can go to another salon that has some respect for their customers time! If I could give zero stars I would. I waited twenty minutes for a pedicure, which I didn't mind because they were busy. However, it was the worst pedicure I've ever gotten. They didn't use clean tools. The nail tech ended up splitting my pinkie toe nail and it now hurts to walk because he essentially left it as a hang nail and didn't file it down. When I paid, he covered the total with his hand, so I couldn't see how much I was charged. I should've walked out when I saw that the tools weren't fresh out of the package. read more

If you are a person of color, this is not going to be a positive experience for you! Nobody should have to leave a nail salon in tears because of the disrespect you experience from the salon! I have been going to this nail salon for last three years with multiple family members. Finally, I have decided to quit this salon as it is clear that they treat a person of color completely different than they would treat a typical white client. Over past years, one of the nail tech named tracy would continually move me from the chair or take another client without finishing her job. I would call them to book appointments for acrylics, but they would say that they are not doing acrylics any more but when I would go to the salon, I would see they are doing acrylics on other clients that came after me. Finally I have decided to stop going there as they made me wait for 45 minutes and told me that they dont have time for me even though I called the day before an made appointment. First they accused me of lying and wanted to see my phone if I have actually called them to make an appointment. When I showed them my call log, they had nothing to say. I had to walk out of that nail salon. Not to mention, I saw them taking a walk in while I was waiting. And Ofcourse the walk in was also a white person. These incidents make me wonder why I have never seen a person of color getting their nails done atleast every time I was there because they definitely will treat you different if you are not white. Well I don't come here often but haven't been pleased with the last place I was going so I tried California nails out the first set I got done was great..I went back a few days ago to get them done again and I pleased with how they came out except two nails which I didn't realize until I had gotten home and showed my husband so I wasn't driving another 30 mins back I couldn't get in the next day as I had to work and they were booked and Sunday they are closed so hopefully I can get in Monday...this is how my nails looked after an hour after getting them done...other then this I haven't had a problem and pleased with the guy that has done mine and I don't recommend going Friday or Saturday read more

I have been coming to California Nails for over a year now. It took a few times before I found the best tech there. Jason is a talented nail tech! I have had many beautiful designs done. They have remodeled and the place looks great. They are always eager to help and please people. I have made appointments and have had to wait and have also been in the chair for more than the hour I booked. I have been on many different day and different times and they are really doing their best to make people happy and to fit them in. I walked in on a Monday afternoon for a walk in and was sat down immediately no wait, and had a lot of fun talking to the young man doing my dip nails as well as some of the other staff. Amazing service but as I'm wearing my new nails I'm noticing how brittle they are :( I hate to say it but I've broken three nails in one day. California does an okay job. The place is outdated and they usually play the news or PBS on the one TV. Doesn't matter if you make an appointment or not, you always end up waiting 10-15 minutes: in other words there's not much of a point in calling to make an appointment. If you tell them exactly how you want your nails they do a good job - having a picture of how you want them helps. I get the dip polish. They're starting to get more colors which is nice. They have a lot of shellac colors but not a lot of dip powder colors yet. read more

No idea how they have gotten Best Nail Salon, because they are far from it; but I guess Keene NH doesn't know quality spa and nail services, this is the best they have. I was very impressed with the service I got today. I had a man, I do not know what his name was. He was very nice very accommodating, and he made sure that I liked everything before he continued. I had recently gotten my nails done at a different salon, and was not very happy with the result. California nails fixed this issue within my appointment time. Although they are not very efficient with appointment times, they always do A great job. I will never stop coming here to get my nails done. Thank you for the great work and attention to detail. One thing I do wish, is that everyone knew how to do simple designs on nails. Every time I have asked for a design, the nail tech I have says they cannot do that design. It is frustrating to pay the amount of money it costs to get acrylic/gel nails done and not be able to get exactly what you want. I know at least one person at the salon can do designs, but most of the nail techs are usually busy so you will have to wait extra. More recently I started getting acrylic with gel paint... after a few days, my ring finger nail began getting lose and it fell off taking the nail with it... my real and fake nail... I went to California and they fixed my nails and redid them all for $10. However, after being assured my ring finger would be fine... it fell off again and so did the remainder of my acrylics... This place is decent for a nail salon. I've been to many nail salons in my time. You walk in and there's the typical front desk and busy technicians working on customers. They were busy when I went, and I had called ahead. I waited maybe 15 minutes before being told to go to the empty pedicure seat. It was kind of awkward as I couldn't understand what she was telling me. The seats are crammed together and there are only 4. I awkwardly squeezed into a chair between two women and had no place to put my coat. There were wires on the floor I almost tripped on. My technician was pleasant and kept smiling, but only talked to her co workers. The technician only became super friendly and nice after I tipped her a big tip. read more

I'm in from out of town for a wedding, and was looking to get a manicure in the Keene area. I ended up at California Nails after calling a few other places that had better reviews, which were all booked on short notice. The salon itself is very dated and shabby, and even a bit dirty. The floor and baseboards were in need of cleaning, and the overall atmosphere was kind of grungy. I'm not confident that the tools my technician used were fresh or sanitized, and the towel under my hands was pretty old and dirty. There was a small TV on in the corner but no other music or entertainment (like magazines near the drying stations). The regular manicure ($15) I got was pretty good. My technician was thorough with my cuticles. I did get one good pinch that drew a speck of blood. They had a decent selection of OPI colors, but the one I chose was pretty streaky. If I'd been doing my own nails, I would have done three coats rather than two, so I should have asked for that. Overall, my nails look pretty good. The manicure itself is 3.5-4 stars. As an out of towner who is not going to be back in Keene anytime soon, I'm unlikely to give this place a second try--but either way, I'd recommend trying another salon with better reviews for a manicure in Keene! read more
