I decided to give this place another chance after going there two years ago, and them completely messing up my nails. I desperately needed a pedicure and I wasn't going to drive back home an hour just for a pedicure. For some reason the pedicure went from $32 to $52. I have no idea how that happened. It's extremely dirty there's flies everywhere the flies wouldn't leave me alone. Everything is dirty. It's cluttered and it smells funny in there too. She didn't bother rubbing the lotion into my legs and said I was all set. So I got lotion all over my car seat and all over my pants. Barley scrubbed my feet at all. I kind of feel like I just poured $50 down the drain if I'm being honest. Next time I know to just drive that hour back home and get a quality pedicure. read more

I had Rachel as my nail tech. I was apprehensive about going at first because I've had bad experiences in the past with manicures but this was the best I've ever had. Rachel was so careful with my nails, I didn't have any pain, she explained the benefits of dipped nails, and we talked a lot too. I liked how affordable it was as well. It was very dirty. Everything I touched (the pad where you place your hands, the counter where you dry your nails) was very sticky and dirty. The plexiglass that is up between yourself and the nail technician is utterly filthy. It was disgusting to me. The nails themselves look good, but I will not return due to the lack of sanitary care. If you want a short and lazy massage go here. If you want your cuticles to also be painted again, go here. If you want awful customer service with no goals or values to help their customers, this is the perfect place to go! My daughters paint jobs were okay but my cuticles and practically skin on one toe were painted over! The massage (major eh) was - rubbing lotion into your legs, there was no exfoliating the leg or foot either. This is the shortest pedicure I have ever had, inside of thirty minutes. I couldn't get there the next day, so returned two days later and asked if they could fix. She offered to clean it up, but insisted that my cuticle line was not my cuticle but part of my nail bed and that she had 18 years of experience and this is the way it's done. In addition, she put some blame on the color I chose (lots of white in it), but when I asked if I could change the color she said I would have to pay. She implied that the other pedicures I have had were incorrect and that they would be looking like they were two weeks out if she painted inside the line I wished to be corrected. Overall the repair experience was not gracious, I was made to feel I was out of line even though she fixed it up much nicer. read more

Love it! Just got my first set done and I am not disappointed. Initially, I booked the appointment for an acrylic full set, but upon beginning the manicure, Helen herself recommended that tips with dip powered would work better for the length I wanted and would be better for my natural nails. I have tried pretty much every nail salon within 30 minutes of where I live, in every direction. Helen's is by far the best. I've never left the salon unhappy, and the consistency of their work is refreshing, especially after driving 30 minutes to get there. I really don't understand the negative views, except to say that I only get a basic mani/pedi--no acrylic, gel, or dip. But I am definitely a regular, and always recommend this place to anyone who needs to salon in the area, and have brought several friends here myself. Although the service was prompt, the quality of their work is trash. 4 nails broke off in two days, I initially got them done for an event so I called to see if I could get them fixed and was told a charge of $15/nail due to Covid testing guidelines. I don't usually write reviews but I felt that this was necessary. I went in about a week ago and got an acrylic full set. It was a little pricey but I didn't mind too much. My nails looked nice and I thought I was set. However, a few days later, two of the nails just broke off. Then a few days later, I look down at my hand and it has happened again. KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM HANNAH! The woman is rude, rough, doesnt listen and does a crappy job! Had me put my feet in an empty basin and turned the hot water on. When I removed my feet she swept my foot back in the basin while admonishing me "no, no, no". It wasnt until she got splash back did she realize maybe the water was too hot. Then she turned the cold water on but instead of monitoring the water I then sat with my feet in Luke warm water. Not relaxing at all. Once that was done we moved to her station. Put on the tips...but instead of asking me the length I preferred she started cutting until I pulled my hand away. By now 4 were cut way too short and when she saw my displeasure she said they are fine and no need to redo. By now I just wanted to be done. Instead of asking me to reposition she would grab my hand reach under my elbow and pull me forward with an exasperated sigh. Mind you the heater she would have me place my hands in front of was to my right so I had no choice but to sit oddly drying my left hand while she worked on my right. After the 3rd time catching me off guard and "helping" me move I finally looked her in the eye as strongly suggested she not do that again or I would be happy to "help" her move. Then when I realized it was cash only for tips I apologized profusely and said it was a last minute thing to get my nails done so all I had was my card. She then proceeded to lecture me on not having cash so I finally said "no worries" and she "ah good your fond your cash" and I said "no just no need for cash bc tips are based on your experience and or quality of work and quite honestly both were were poor so I was all set." Was denied service because of my nail deformity. The lady started to do my nails. She had the tips on my right hand, ready to do my thumbs. My thumb nails are deformed because my nail looks smashed. (I was born that way) After they denied me of doing my nails, she also left them cut uneven and very scratchy. They embarrassed me by talking in front of other customers about my nails. I would not recommend. It was very busy when we arrived for our scheduled appointments. We waited for a short time, then we were led over to the Pedicure chairs that had people still in them. As they were getting up we were hurried into their chairs. One of the girls barely swiped with a cloth one of the foot tubs beside me as it was draining. Helen the owner did not spray or wipe my foot tub. She just started filling it with water. I asked her if she was going to disinfect it, first? There was no plastic bag/cover inside the tub like many other salons have. She seemed very irritated with me, and snapped at me that she did do it. She turned to one of her employees throwing her hands in the air talking in a foreign language that I didn't understand. I was watching the entire time and she did not disinfect it. She was too busy jumping around and answering phone calls on her head set and must have forgotten. She walked over to a carry container that had a some containers and a spray bottle of Lysol and a cloth. She grabbed the cloth and Lysol and heavily sprayed the foot tub with it and wiped it down and cleaned the foot rest in front of me. Helen told me to stick my feet in and started the water, while there was still a puddle of Lysol in the bottom.She informed me the tools were disinfected as well as she picked up a nail cutter and another instrument from the stand in front of her. I did not see them be taken from a bag, they were just sitting there. She also did not change out some of the items she used on me like the toe nail brush that was very used, the emery board and another instrument. I should have walked out. I just better not get some foot fungus or another issue. Needless to say, I stayed. The pedi only lasted 20 min. for $30. plus tip. I did not feel pampered at all. I didn't appreciate Helen answering phone calls the entire time, from her head set as she worked on me. She picked up her appointment book off the floor discussing what each client wanted and time options and wrote the appointment in, then threw it back on the floor after each call numerous times. Very rushed, unprofessional and I question her sanitary practices!!! read more

Today I tried out a new salon with two of my friends. I went in to get my nails redone and had only one broken nail. When I asked her to put a tip on that single nail (because my nails are naturally long) she charged me an extra $5 then charged me another $5 because my nails are shaped into the coffin shape which that had already been. I was fine with both of those charges. I was then told that I was being charged an other $5 because my nails were too long?? I was not okay with that charge. When I questioned the lady doing my nails why I was paying an extra $15 she was very rude and telling me to go somewhere else and wouldn't let me talk. She rushed through my nails and was very obviously talking about me and my friends in a rude way to the other workers although we couldn't understand what they were saying. The reasoning why I couldnt have my nails soaked was that it "takes too long" and they will lose business. I even informed my nail tech that this was the incorrect way and causes serious damage to the natural nail with no response but her sitting back and questioning if I was going to leave. I stayed, and while my nails look fine: I have swelling in the fingers that were ripped off. I was also charged $5 for having coffin shaped nails already on (this was not the salon that shaped them in the first place). got a shellac here from Helen herself a little while ago, and although the actual manicure was well done, the experience was horrible. i booked an appointment for 10am (when they opened) and showed up promptly at 10. i greeted her warmly and then i took some time picking out my nail color. she proceeded to make huffing noises and made it obvious that she wanted me to hurry up. i felt extremely rushed and when i finally decided on a color she accosted me for not showing up earlier if i was "going to take so long" and that "this is going to delay her other appointments." how does that even make sense when i took the earliest appointment? is she expecting people to walk in before the doors are even open? mind you there was no one else in the salon at this time... she did the manicure in moody silence, stopping in the middle of the service time and time again to take calls. she couldn't manage to be polite the entire time, even though i was. i will not be back. read more

I had a "new DIP" process done ( up sold me on that, because it has vitamin E in it) and in two weeks my nails seemed hard and strong, growing out to a nice length. I called and could not get an appt to remove the finish, so tried soaking them in acetone myself. Big Mistake. Completed my left hand and each nail was so weak and thin that they literally ripped off along with the multiple layers of coating. .. so much for growth and strength. ..Not doing that to my right hand, so went in on Thursday 1:00 to have the polish removed from the other hand. "Not possible to just take it off..too busy...everyone else has appointment ". .. so much for "walk-ins welcome". They could have handled it so much better! How about offering to let me sit and soak then taking it off for me ( only 5 fingers to do)! I have been there many times in the past although I find it expensive. I got a gel manicure here and honestly, it's the best one I've gotten in a long time. It's very neat, non bubbling, and my cuticles look amazing. HORRIBLE service at Helen's Nail Salon. I came in to get my dip powder taken off and they were very rude and aggressive with me. When she completed my service, my nails were very uneven and there was leftover polish all over my hands and in my cuticles. They did not even attempt to clean my hands and nails off. When I said something to her, she said that it will come off throughout the day and I can try to scrub it off when I get home. I can only imagine what it would be like if I had gotten a full service. Love Helen's! The women there are very friendly and do a great job. You can either make an appointment or go as a walk-in. I always make an appointment because they can be pretty busy, especially if KSC is in session, then that way you obviously can get the exact time you want. I get the shellac done on my nails and I have the french manicure done but choose a color instead of white which will run you $35. If you do the shellac and have the nails painted fully (not just the tips) then that is $30. They also offer pedicures (which are nice and I've combined it when doing the shellac on my fingernails), gel nails, acrylic nails, and just a manicure with regular ol' polish. People have also stopped in before for touch-ups/fixes if a nail breaks. read more

Terrible experience! Came here with an appointment and had one of the most chaotic and disrespectful experiences I've ever had! From the very beginning the employee was extremely rude, aggressive and overall disagreeable. I started with a pedicure where she completed with a lackluster attitude that was later displayed on my feet as I'm walking around needing a pedicure after paying $40! Pushing forward to where she started the work on my full set, I communicated the length I desired, to which she promptly and nastily let me know that when she's done she's done and there's nothing that could be done and that she wasn't going to fix it. At this point, I had enough of her treatment and asked the owner for another tech. When that wasn't an option, I decided to end the service with a set of tips glued on to my fingers. I would not recommend this place. My sister had a shellac manicure that came out fantastic, but other than that everyone else, including the owner does not prioritize a good experience/customer service in this establishment and therefore should not have my or anyone else's business. read more

The woman was very aggressive with me, very rude, did not care about the acrylic that was all over my skin, my nails were not dry and i actually said that they weren't dry when she tried to send me off and she insisted that they were and now all the color has peeled off. Crooked and uneven. I got a full acrylic set in 30 minutes when it usually takes closer to 45-60 minuets. Not worth $50 at all. Overall, I am such a fan of Helen's. Reasonable prices, very clean, and I always get a great pedicure here. I love their massaging chairs, and the ladies are all so friendly! My pedicures here often last at least 3-4 weeks (or more). They also have a great selection of OPI and other colors. I'm always deciding between at least two! I have however had really mixed results around manicures. My last Shellac manicure there lasted only about a week before chipping. It was clear the tech doing mine was not as skilled as one or two of the other ladies. While they all seem to universally do a great pedicure, I am only certain that Helen herself does a great mani (shellac, extensions or otherwise). While I am overall happy with my recent full set with a shellac french manicure, there are some small technical issues (including a bubble in my acrylic). Moving forward, I am likely to get my fills or shellac elsewhere unless I can see Helen. This is "the" place in Keene for nails, so do make an appointment (especially for weekend time slots) well in advance. read more
