This review is long overdue. Both our front tires completely shredded on our roadtrip up to Oregon. We were first towed by another company, and after some tire installation mishaps we realized we needed to be towed again to the nearest Tesla service center. Very unhappy about one of your drivers that needs his CDL reevaluated by DMV. On 10/22/21 around 2pm, this truck was in the FURTHEST RIGHT turning lane going from Hilltop onto Cypress, which is a turning lane for I-5 NORTH. Instead, driver decides to CUT OFF about 5 cars and quickly jump into the next lane over for I-5 SOUTH whilst towing a Penske truck behind. This caused a huge traffic jam in the middle of a photo enforced intersection. Total d**k move and I won't take this review down under any circumstances. It's even possible that some people got a ticket because of this. Train your drivers to drive courteously!! Not cut people off!! Dylan is the best tow truck driver trucker ever! We got stranded late at night when our (rented) Tesla would not take a charge. We had to go rent a hotel room, and the fine people of Corning, California could not have been lovelier. The next morning Dylan showed up. Tesla customer support actually recommended him because he specializes in towing Teslas, which we think could be a very good living based on our experience! Anyway, we have had a lot of experiences over several decades with various tow truck, drivers and Dylan was outstanding. He is incredibly kind, professional, an excellent driver, with a lot of training, skill, knowledge, and all around a really great person. We now have a new friend. read more

My grandson was involved in a rollover collision on Christmas Eve. The tow truck driver was rude and resentful that he had to come out on a holiday. He treated my grandson and his wife like they were trash. He padded his hours and complained all the way from Viola to Redding about having to drive all that way on a holiday. The owner was even worse accusing my grandson of being a deadbeat without insurance and that the company was going to be on the hook for the expense of the tow even though my grandson was insured. He kept yelling at my grandson to hurry up and get his belongings out of the totalled car because it was Christmas Eve and he had a family to be with. My grandson was upset and shaken up from the accident, it was his first car, and he was unsure of what to do. The entire experience was upsetting. DON'T USE CALIFORNIA TOWING. The worst !! If I could give zero stars I would. My insurance company dispatched them, they sent out a tow truck driver with only three months experience, he said he couldn't tow my car after we push the car out in the street because he didn't feel comfortable putting it on the flatbed. He was a nice young man so I asked him to call his supervisor to have him come help, the supervisor would not come! So my car was left in the street until I could get a hold of Keith's towing who promptly put it on the flatbed without any damage or concerns. I do not recommend this tow company! read more

Got into a collision. Had to get my car towed 4 miles away. A tow truck happened to be at the scene and gave me a quote of $100. Unfortunately, he was called away by his company to a heavy accident. Police came and insisted on getting a tow for me for "safety" reasons, even though I called my own with my dealership. Ended up paying about $300 to tow 4 miles with this company. I'm not even implying anything. Further, I talking to the police and wasn't paying attention when the driver was hooking up my car. He dragged it up with the parking brakes active in my car in park. Called California Towing and clearly communicated my need to have a 37' fifth wheel trailer moved approximately 1/4 mile from one drive way to a parking space. Model, location , clearly provided. Upon arrival the driver made several trips back and forth between location and destination and AFTER almost an hour then assessed that his non commercial vehicle was unable to move the vehicle and had no additional tools or ability to help. He then recommended we call yet another truck to then lift in place the trailer but at an additional hourly rate. Honestly I've never had a worse experience with a towing service provider let alone a company who advertise transport also. Was contacted by office and received a refund. read more

Worse! No Stars for California Towing! My truck was stolen and I was out of town. RPD stated we could drive it home or have it towed by California Towing. Change vendors RPD!!! Kevin Junior was in the main office and was unfriendly: No eye contact, no smiles or conversation. We stated our story and he hesitantly got out of his chair to retrieve the notebook with our invoice. Tossed the invoice on the receptionist computer and went out the back door saying " let me check if it will even start". So, a lie first of all cuz it was in their service yard 5 miles away, Secondly, what the heck? RPD didnt say anything about it being disabled. He comes back from the bay "Wont start, but you can try". LIE ! Luckily, Alphonso comes in and rescues us from this disaster. First I want to say I post a lot on Yelp. I consider my posts to be honest and straight forward. I have slammed businesses when needed. In this case with California Towing I can not believe all the negative posts especially about Kevin. I was stranded on North I-5 for over six hours because our tow group dropped the ball several times, but that's another matter. When Cal Tow was finally contacted they came right to my recuse as fast as they possibly could. I was towing a 31' fifth wheeled trailer and they brought two vehicles to tow both. They were very efficient and got right to it. They had us loaded up and headed towards the repair shop in less than 30 minutes. They even towed our trailer to the local Elks Lodge for us. My wife and I spent over 45 minutes with Kevin and he was very kind and personable. We enjoyed our time together even though my truck troubles were looming. After setting us up at the Lodge I offered Kevin a tip and he wouldn't accept it. I believe jobs well done should be rewarded. So those of you who think Kevin and his company are RIP offs I'd think again. I would definitely recommend Kevin and his company. They got me out of a huge problem. Now my Car Club Company (Good Sam's ) is a worthless non professional company and I'm going back to AAA. read more

Paid 112$ OVER my insurance covered 75$!! Have used every towing company in Redding and have never been charged extra. Even got a tow in San Francisco completely covered by my insurance. How long was my tow with them 8.8 miles!!! That's almost 200$ for a 9 mile tow!! Absolutely ridiculous when I called for an explanation I was told they charge $125 an hour and the clock starts from the time they leave their shop and get back. My husband and I were stranded on I5 south last night after our front drive line went out on our pickup on the way home from vacation. While we had some gripes with the way our insurance carrier handled my service call (taking over 3 hours to get someone dispatched) we were very happy with California Towing once they arrived. Our driver was a nice guy, caring and thoughtful. He had to drive us 222 miles to get us home with our big 3/4 ton diesel pickup loaded on the back of his rig. His truck was clean, as comfortable as possible and he was courteous and quick. The price was steep as our insurance only covered 100 miles and the additional cost was over 700. That being my only complaint, I guess it's reasonable for an emergency service. I would highly recommend this tow company for the unfortunate circumstance of needing emergency roadside assistance. read more

I've never liked this towing company and their customer service. Second time done business with them and they charge up the a**. First time was when I got into a terrible accident and California towing towed it down the road (less than 2 miles), charged up the a**. I let them keep the wrecked car because my insurance was not going to cover all the damage repairs which cost more than the vehicle. Second time is one of our vehicles got stolen and my husband couldn't pick it up same day without finding a truck And someone to help. So here it is presidents day and husband left work early and THEY ARE CLOSED another day to collect your storage fee right? Husband asked if they would make an exception to waive the fee and they pretty much said "nope can't do" which is ridiculous. How is it our fault that you guys decide to close on presidents day when some businesses are open? I will never ever ever ever recommend you guys and I will continue to tell everyone how crappy you guys are. I will keep telling people to not ever rely on you guys for towing.
