I found this company through the Ride Yellow app, which worked like a charm when I needed a ride home on Sunday night. The app is incredibly simple to set up (name, e-mail, and payment method). You can choose whether to pay by card or with cash. When a driver is found, their information (first name, photo, cab number, and license plate number) pops up and remains on the map, along with a countdown as to when they'll reach you. Then you receive a phone call from your driver when they've arrived. My experience went smooth as silk. Angel called to let me know he was at the building, then found my exact location a few minutes later. Spotlessly clean sedan, climate control, friendly and professional the whole way. There's a helpful automated screen, too, where you pay at the end. Receipts are sent to your e-mail or by text. Truth: I was quite concerned about how I'd get home tonight. Absolutely terrifying experience driving home from John Wayne airport at 10 pm on Wed, Aug 19, 2026 in cab 541. The driver veered erratically between lanes and went very fast above the speed limit (80 in a 65 accelerating dramatically in the left-most lane). I had to repeatedly request that he slow down. He had his phone on the stand but repeatedly looked at it intently and made multiple swipes to the point that that was also unsafe and unquestionably illegal. He plugged my Costa Mesa address into his phone as a Santa Ana address, and so we went the wrong way on the 55, and when I told him that he just got irritated and told me to "relax, relax, relax." It wasn't until we got to the wrong address in Santa Ana that he understood my point and turned us around towards Costa Mesa. I was literally shaking because we were driving down industrial streets I didn't recognize with no witnesses and my phone was weirdly not getting signal, so basically your worst nightmare. I even asked to be let out of the cab, which he didn't acknowledge right away, but then he pulled up the correct Costa Mesa address and I chose that over unloading with all my bags on an unknown street. What should've been a simple 5 to 10 minute ride from the airport became a $50 tab on the meter, but he let me pay him just 25. I was so shaken I actually didn't understand in the moment (totally frozen) whether to give him the $25 change or the $50 bill, and he laughed at me like I was an idiot. I tried to share this directly with Yellow Cab Company, but haven't been able to speak to a person for almost 2 days so here you go. I have debriefed this with the sheriff, so just so you know if something weird happens in their cabs just call 911 because there's absolutely no clear readily accessible safety contacts in the company itself. This was my one big forray into what I thought was a real professional cab (usually do Lyft but was too tired to walk up to level three at airport) and I can say with absolute certainty it was my last. Coming home from a long day of air travel, we thought it would be a little more than an Uber to take a taxi. Like $5 more. It was $21 for the uber... but in a rush, we grabbed a cab from the airport instead. It was $43.70. More than double. Ouch. Don't ever use a taxi home from John Wayne airport. awful. not only did their driver speed up to run a red light in the rain, but the pos filed a false police report, saying he hit me at the intersection. I tried to get the ins info but his boss was an ass and refused to. i had a perfect drivng record before this pos hit me and moved his car the long beach pd was useless, a witness offered her info and she was ignored. CA is a leftist state but even a half block down they blamed me for turning left...I had a passenger and we were both shocked the guy hit the car 1/2 of the way to park.Pantry. Today at JW Airport, one of your Yellow Cab drivers came within millimeters of hitting me while recklessly trying to merge into fast moving traffic where there was clearly no room. The passengers in the cab were screaming at him in fear, which shows just how unsate the situation was. As someone who works in the legal field, I know people have sued for less. It is shocking that a company responsible for public transportation would allow this kind of behavior, especially given the serious safety and liability concerns involved. It is also shocking that the company does not have some sort of "How am I driving" phone or website where you can report situations like this. This driver should absolutely be disciplined. Can I give -2 stars? I'll let them have 1 star because they returned my call, but I'm being VERY generous! I scheduled them on 6/3, for a 6/5 pick up at 6am. He, on the phone, said "no problem". My flight left at 7:30am. At 6:10am I called, it sounded like I woke him up. I asked if my driver was on the way. He said I'll call you back. No call, no ride, no flight. A long overdo getaway was put on hold. I wonder if they'll pay my fees for changing my flight. Don't bother calling them if you REALLY NEED a ride. read more

This outfit is strictly hit and miss when it comes to it's drivers. I'm currently going through a massive automotive overhaul over months, and though the repair shop is only a short distance away, I only have one car, and it's too far to walk, as I am partially disabled. The first driver I got was a complete jerk. He crabbed all the way about having to come from a 15 mile distance for a short hop, but hey, is this MY fault? Seeing my cane, the guy didn't even get out, open the door, and help me in! I was also treated to a discourse on getting new car for a certain amount of money, if I knew the right people". WHAT?? Is he running a sideline, and working the people he picks up at garages? He never gave me a receipt, either. I was so annoyed I didn't get his name or cab #, but Buster, you know who you are! The second driver I got was excellent, Jenny #3LYO; she opened the door for me, and helped me get buckled in. Same routine at arrival, totally professional. I've had to use this outfit several times in the past, and again, it's totally a random experience depending on who you get. The company doesn't seem to care one way or the other, which is bad for the good drivers. The automated phone booking system is a royal pain. It frequently misunderstands you, and you have to keep repeating yourself. I wish I could give this outfit 2.5 stars, because it's totally random what kind of experience you'll get. Both cabs arrived in a decent amount of time (less than 20 minutes), so that was good, but it's a roll of the dice when it comes to the cabbies. Also, there does not seem to be a governing authority when it comes to Taxis in Orange County. In NYC, San Diego, L.A., and many other cities and counties in the US there is: They set rates, conduct, licensing, etc. Not here. It seems totally unregulated. I'll update this review when my car has completed it's overhaul, as I'm dependent on this monopoly here, and will need several trips. Very dishonest driver! We stepped out of John Wayne airport and got into a Yellow Cab by a woman driver. Her tablet shows $44 to our destination. Then she turned it off and said that the tablet isn't working and her calculation is $48. By the time we reached destination in Irvine in less than 20 minutes, she told us that the cost is $63. To begin this review I did not use the company but rather was almost in a car accident caused by one of their drivers who was a male, with glasses, in their 40s, possibly bald, at approximately 4pm today in Fountain Valley. I had a green light to make a u-turn as they were about to make a right turn on red. I went when I had the all clear although traffic was coming. As I went to u turn, the taxi driver made a right. I honked for them to stop but they proceeded almost hitting my car. I couldn't stop because there was on coming traffic. Then the driver proceeded to move across 4 lanes fast. Do not allow cab #6677and 6420 to pick you up he will inflate the fair and take the long route to your destination and he is very unkempt in appearance from his hair to body. Cab 6420 is using fraudulent data blocking malware i believe to inflate ride prices. Becareful of these scammers. I reported both cab drivers. Giving them 1 star is too much. I called way in advance to make my reservation to pick me up at my home and take us to JWA. I had just spoken to a dispatcher that same morning to confirm my pickup. She said all was fine and he would be there at 8:15 am. At 8:30 am, he still wasn't there at my home. I called back and only got a recording that said "we are trying to locate a driver for you." Kept calling for 10 more minutes and got the same recording. So, we left and drove my car to JWA so we wouldn't miss our flight. It cost me $120 to park there for 6 days, but at least I had my own car waiting for me when I returned from our trip. I didn't have to worry that I would be waiting for a No-Show cab. Driver never showed! Called to reserve 15 hrs ahead, was connected to a Call Center in the Philippines. Operator #### was not very nice while booking over the phone. I asked for a confirmation number, she seemed reluctant to provide one. I asked her to repeat the itinerary and how can I confirm driver will show. She said they'll call. Do not use this taxi company they are beyond bad at what they do. I called on May 10th and booked a wheelchair taxi in order to get a ride from Orange to LAX on May 20th at 6 am, for a 9 o'clock flight. The lady on the phone said this would be no problem. I called on May 18th to confirm that my ride was good and everything was okay just to double check because being in a wheelchair and flying in a commercial airline it makes everything very complicated as a lot of planning and coordination goes into place with a lot of people. Well, as May 20th at 6 am arrived the cab never showed up, at 6:10 with still no cab I called the number to check on the status of the driver and the lady on the phone had the audacious to say, "I am sorry sir but we currently don't have a driver for you at the moment." Hearing this got me incredibly mad that the fact this company after checking twice to be sure everything was set and for them to say everything was good twice is just asinine. Knowing that a California Yellow Cab was not coming it took me 20 minutes to find another wheelchair cab company that could get me to the airport, but by this time the damage was already done as I did not get to LAX until 8 o'clock. Ultimately, I missed my flight with all my bags getting on it but me. I ended up reaching my destination as the airline found me another flight a few hours later, but throughout the day every direct flight was already full. So instead of reaching my destination in a 5-hour flight, it took two stops and I did not get to my destination until 2 am, 9 hours after my originally scheduled time. So to anyone looking to use California Yellow Cab run when you come across them because just all this could have been avoided if this company had just called me the day before to inform me that they did not have a driver; therefore, I could have found an alternative method. I feel I was scammed by this company. I called for a quote to John Wayne airport and was quoted $41-48. When I got to the airport I was told my fare price was $55. I questioned my driver on the charge and he handed me a piece of paper that showed a flat rate of $55 which I had to pay. Pretty disappointed in this ride and wouldn't use them again. read more

DO NOT ever use this company for your transportation to anywhere and here's why: We reserved our ride 2 months in advance because we needed an accessible vehicle with a lift/ramp. I called at 3 times before our travel date to double-triple check they have the correct information since it was our first time arranging this type of transportation. Our flight was for 8:50 a.m. flying out of LAX. We live in Garden Grove. Our ride was late 15 minutes, then 20 minutes; my first couple of calls to them, I got an automated answer saying "we're scheduling your ride". I got worried and kept calling back until I got someone on the line to speak. Finally, a guy answered, this is after 23 minutes later, and told me that they're "still assigning an accessible vehicle" and that I should have a Plan B just in case - this is the DAY OF our ride and they were just now "assigning an accessible vehicle"!! He also provided me his corporate office number if I wanted to lodge a complaint. I thank you God my neighbor was home and had a vehicle to fit my husband's wheelchair and he took us to the airport. Oh and get this, on our way there (it's been about 45 minutes later), I get a call from this company asking me if I still needed a ride - I asked if they had an accessible vehicle for me, they answered "no, but we're still checking and want to know if you still need a ride" - I had to let it go and hung up!! If we didn't have the help of our wonderful neighbor, had he be out of town or unavailable, we would not have made it to our destination, our vacation would have been RUINNED! Used California Yellow Cab for our trip for Disneyland and both trips were great! We flew in and out of John Wayne. On arrival day we walked out of baggage claim, hung a right and there were multiple cabs waiting. One of the drivers helped us get our bags in the trunk and took us right to our hotel. Nice gentle driving and enough chatting to not be awkward but not forced. For our return to the airport I used the app, selected ride now & we had a cab within 10 minutes. Again the driver helped us get our bags in the trunk & chatted some on the drive. Gentle driving again & I get car sick easily so that is really saying something. The price looked to be comparable to Lyft/Uber. After reading some of the reviews I made a choice to not book ahead of time, but I've had bad luck with that locally with other companies so that issue may be more with whatever system is used to manage the bookings. Without a doubt I would use California Yellow Can again. read more

My wife and I were struggling to get a cab at Fullerton Train Station when we happened upon California Yellow Cab and driver Mack. He was a God sent. Friendly, reliable, and courteous. We liked him so much that we requested him for the trip back, and he was waiting for us at the hotel fifteen minutes earlier than requested- ensuring that we had plenty of time to catch our train. I was so scared to death on this ride that I had a death grip on the door handle. Got to my appointment in 10 minutes for a 5 mile drive that usually takes 15 minutes, and he asked if I needed a ride home, I said NO. I called my sister to drive from La Mirada to Anaheim to pick me up. I will never use this service again. Driver was Orlando in cab #488. I used to drive taxi and never drove like this.
